I dont Owe u anything first of all. I dont care about that man at all or what he did so no I wont walk pitch-forks. Third eduquate yourself a bit cause like I said blizzard aint the first and wont be the last. Just look up internet. Look Ubisoft Montreal sexual harasment. Like I said its a matter of time before other company come out thats all.
Oh and just for the record my roomate work at Ubi so I knew about this harasment thing before it was even public.
Yes. That is happening. I, personally, can’t impose legal consequences on the company, only the courts can.
Meanwhile, I am perfectly allowed to form an opinion on whether all of this happened or not based on the available evidence - the results of a two-year investigation by the state and former and current Blizzard employees outright saying “Yes this happened”.
Judging from the posts I’ve seen, a lot of people have no idea how lactation works, the importance of relaxtion in enabling let-down (it doesn’t affect just humans, either), or the pain of working with engorged, leaky breasts, the risks of infection and mastitis… and that’s not even including the need for hygiene with the bottles and pump.
Some women can work while pumping, others need a quiet room, others are fine with a small closet. And no, bathrooms are not sufficiently hygenic to be considered a suitable pumping space.
It can also be really, really hard to let down so that you have something to pump without your baby there for a lot of women, so you need to kind of…concentrate on relaxing? And think about your baby. The human body is weird. I never had much success with pumping myself, and just thinking about trying to do it in a room where a bunch of dudes might come blazing in like “WE RESERVED THE QUIET ROOM FOR OUR COD SESSION” basically would’ve been my worst nightmare.
Never had to use my breasts for their primary intended purpose (the sexual function is very much secondary, gentlemen), so no personal experience, just reading and hearing about the experiences of other women who have tried pumping at work.
More input from women who have tried pumping at work might, (I"m not particularly hopeful here) help inform some of the people reading this about how lactation works in humans.
I’m afraid that most dudes probably get their information from…uh. Non-educational animated videos? Manga maybe? Rule 34 websites? Where a woman basically turns into one of those kids toys that you hook up to a hose that has waving arms that spray everywhere during activities that are definitely not for the purposes of feeding a baby.
That’s not an actual thing. And what skeeves me out is that the guys who kept blazing in to the spaces reserved for lactation were probably hoping that they’d see something super salacious and cool “on accident”.
Here are some links on lactation in general (apparently there are fish, birds, cockroaches and spiders that have some form of lactation) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactation
I don’t believe this case is frivolous or being brought for either financial or career reasons. It’s clearly none of the above.
That said, California has in recent years received a minor and brief reprieve from a rapidly growing mountain of debt and liabilities already nearing $400 billion. Again, that’s irrelevant to this suit, but its recent surplus (much smaller than initially reported) is not indicative of its fiscal status.
I assume that they had to do some extensive machete work and it was easier to put everyone on pause for a minute instead of having to chase the fires getting put out
So for all the flak that Steve Danuser cops for the narrative, he put out a very good message about this mess today on Twitter.
This is what we need to see, not just from Steve, but from leadership across the entirety of Blizzard, which is followed by swift, noticable action. The roots of this crap need to be pulled out, and I for one, am happy to see at least one leader at the company acknowledge that.
Now to see if it does become more than just words.
