Activision Blizzard sued by California. This is bad

I am assuming they are left out of social events, missed opportunities to network or whatever. At least it’d have to be that if it’s worth suing over. If it’s just the guys not hanging out with them, eh. You don’t have to like your coworkers, after all.

I can’t believe Alex is involved. He always seemed like one of the good ones. :frowning:

I think that where this part is applicable: instead there was retaliation in the form of involuntary transfers, selection for lay-offs, and denial of projects and opportunities

I’ve been looking up some of this stuff in psychology published papers- just enough to get a handle on how the prosecution handles it. But, back to my normal world. Good conversation. Thank you.

And stuff like always being lowest priority for time off, being left without support or breaks for extended times, being demanded to work OT while other people don’t, ever, and all of this while being one of the most senior people on the team.

Had a boss for a while who would hit on the young attractive men on the team and do his level best to exclude women from support and opportunities. I more than once wound up the only supervisor trying to manage 35 people on a 15 hour open to close shift with no lunch or break because one of the boys “really needed the day off for this CrossFit event/random last minute trip/other last second BS” and it was “too late to get anyone to cover.” Went 5 years without a proper vacation because of that nonsense.

Joke’s on him, I was hired and promoted by the client we were supporting, and he’s jobless in Vegas after his husband left him.

It’s worse. Their response was to refuse mediation and supply an aggressive non-apology that accused the state of not telling them what they were being investigated for (what?) and that California drives away businesses or something. By like…enforcing labor laws. It’s a real hot take, and I can’t believe that their lawyers actually signed off on it.

Let me explain a little something to the knights calling for “proof or didn’t happen”. A state doesn’t levy litigation against a publicly traded company, especially one as large as Actiblizzard, unless they’ve turned up a mountain of evidence in those two years. You can bet your a$$ a large portion of what is being described in that article is probably true. In fact, my guess is that multiple people at the CDFEH have staked their careers to these allegations. You don’t just do that for the lulz.

i can’t believe it never came out, i don’t remember ever hearing about it

I seriously hope someone has screen shots of all your posts and saves them. You have given spectacular evidence against yourself in the event of a lawsuit. You openly admit to discrimination against women.

The document mentions that the ones that brought up concerns were met with retaliation. Since it’s going to court, they probably have the complaints and the time-frame of the individual being laid off or looking at their career growth.

Makes me wonder if there was a difference in women vs. men when they had that large layoff.

This all just makes me sick to my stomach. I’ve always loved Blizzard, I’ve always felt they championed the underdog, and pushed for inclusivity and equality. Clearly, it was all a sham to make a quick buck on those communities, and behind closed doors it was the opposite. I’ve unsubbed from the game, and will not return until I see some changes, and even then, there has been some irreparable damage done.

I’ve gone to several Blizzcons, and I just can’t believe the devs and employees I’ve met are the same people working/condoning this behavior. Shameful.

So hypocritical. I guess I should’ve know during the Free Hong Kong controversy. Oh well.

In before the next apology video

I will just wait for the legal system to handle this, after all that is their role in our society. If they are actually found guilty, then punishment will be handed out and the company will take steps to correct the situation. Interesting how all that can happen and I don’t have to do a thing.

Well that is the saddest part of all this, that someone would consider this “common place” ITS NOT ACCEPTABLE…to consider this “oh it happens all the time so its ok” it is NOT ok, it should never ever be considered acceptable to be common place. It should be "no this cannot be!! at all times…for everyone…its a type of abuse acceptance and when it happens, finally someone is ringing the alarm bell and SAYING this is OUTRAGEOUS finally…because IT IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN…I hope they get prosecuted and the whole world is aware of it now. Not like in the past were there was no way to put things out there, now there is. And I am glad about that.

Dude, take your fear of sexual assault allegations and shove them so far up your kiester. False accusations are so rare that they are statistically insignificant. You know what isn’t rare? Sexual assault.

False… please do yourself, and sexual assault victims, a favor and actually put forth a little bit of research next time before making a grandiose claim.

Let’s hope it all turns out well and justice is served if needed.

However this is something that is very hot for a few weeks then after a few months nobody will remember this. Typical internet.

It has gone to court, that’s how we’ve all heard about it!

Until all the evidence & proof is revealed, it doesn’t matter til everything is known.

Innocent til proven guilty should apply in all cases, to everyone.
