Blizzard’s “performance”, last night, only adds to this thesis.
The way I (and MANY others) were treated last night, by Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ: ATVI), provokes a strategy change…
It’s time to “short” ATVI

Right and the industry crappy buisness practices and market trends have nothing to do with it, It’s all about your stress test experience that the market has lost billions?
Wake up and smell the peacebloom.

@ Thundathys, You are welcome to possess whatever perception you’d like…
As for me, I have a new game to play.
ATVI is trading negatively, on nearly every metric measured. Last night’s “performance”, is a highly correlated event, in relation to the company’s overall performance.
You go long… I’m going short. We’ll see who has more gold, in a year or two. LOL

And report streamers to the IRS.

That’s like saying everybody that has a beer is an alcoholic…
Every single Games publisher’s(with a few exceptions) stocks are down and it has NOTHING to do the beta stress test.

@ Thundathys… Again, you are welcome to your own perception. Nobody wants to stop you from relying on warm and fuzzy excuses.
The reality is, ATVI’s peers stock prices, have not all collapsed… AND… ATVI’s stock price, has collapses more then any of it’s peers.
I’m going to rely on empirical data, with the inclusion of first hand experience of ATVI’s core business performance.
Good luck. {hugs}
If you look at their one year chart. You can see a decline rapidly after Blizzcon. However… I think it’ll be better when Classic comes out.
Do you guys not have phones?
That chart tells more stories then just the decline at the end of 2018…
ATVI stock is trading below technical averages. Even the 20 SMA death crossed the 50 SMA, a couple days ago.

Actually it shows a trend, EA’s stocks are doing basically the exact same thing (but at higher values) and remind me how much of blizzard is owned by EA?
Why you gotta throw logic and facts into the argument? Cant you just run on emotion like the OP?
No, the market does not care in the least whether you made it into the stress test for a game in development.

Note to the thread: Highly advised, you don’t rely on @ Thundathys for your retirement account management.

I guess trying to read the news about Activision might be too difficult for you. You’d rather try to make a post to make you look smart when typing 5 words in google is telling you exactly what’s happening . The issue is about Call of Duty.
A stress test it not made to be played. Blizzard had many players in, did a few things, spawn a few bosses (which, may I remind you, is nothing new … they did it in beta 2004, did it a few times on some servers for the fun). They probably got the reports they needed, and analyzing it to understand where the issues are.
A stress test server that crashes is a GOOD THING. You want many errors and reports to come in.
@ Qklazsiqh, I don’t care either, about the game. I care about ATVI’s performance.
After all REAL gold, has a bit more value.
Then you are in the wrong forum.
Theres much better companies to be investing money into than a games company, and If I had to put money into an entertainment company it would be disney not activision.
The OP should be proof of not doing drugs at school.
@Seijuron, you, too… are missing the point. But, that’s ok.
Not if she is shorting the company. Again, like any investment, it is a risk. Classic can come out and save ATVI’s butt and then put the OP in a bad spot, depending on how long they are holding the stock to short.
That said, I don’t agree with the premise that the stress test is in anyway indicative of why ATVI is tanking. The stress test did exactly what it was supposed to do, and if there is a problem with communication, it is on the side of the reader, I believe.
Look, if it pissed people off, it doesn’t matter what they said. They should be rolling out damage control and trying to get some of those people onto some kind of early access server sooner than later.
It’s incrementally bad for their reputation to keep doing things this way. No matter how many people say “stress testing doesn’t mean early access”, that won’t stop people from getting angry and it won’t work as damage control.
There is such a thing as understanding the politics of gaming communities. For a company like Blizzard to not be constantly trying to win over their audience… I mean it’s a business. What do people expect exactly?
Their stocks aren’t affected by worsening reputation? That’s basically what the defense league is saying.
And here’s the thing, it’s not just this event. It’s many previous events incrementally hurting their reputation.
All I’m saying is this - take away emotions from both sides, both arguments.
Did this debacle “help” Blizzard? Do they really believe the negativity doesn’t hurt their bottom line? Why would they think that?
Stocks don’t drop from one bad event. But, this event reminds people that their stocks are dropping.
I’ll say this again… it’s just business. Don’t get angry at me for writing this wall of text. This was me being pretty objective.
