Account suspension?

Joined a battleground today got a phone call ran out to my truck grabbed a water on way back to computer was logged out with a 2 week suspension for AFK. Make this make sense

Generally a 2 week suspension is given for repeatedly AFKing during a very large amount of games. E.g. you were not penalised for just one game of AFK.

You said you ran out for a phone call and did other things like grabbing a water. If you do this repeatedly, that means you did AFK during games where players expect you to play the Battlegrounds letting them down making the penalty stand as is.

Take this as a learning lesson and if you don’t have time to play BG’s or suddenly something comes up: Just eject yourself from the BG in that way you’re not deemed AFK.

i understand that, i play each and every game of pvp generally speaking a few moments of life come up here and there but this seems over the top yeah i had to grab something quick and came back i wasnt gone long enough to be deemed afk and removed.

They don’t ban you on the same day you did the thing. Usually it takes a few days, weeks, whatevs.

However, I would stop “running out to your truck” because they got their eye on you now. In the future, a self 30 minute deserter is better for yourself and your team than a two week suspension.

If it is that frequent, once the two weeks is up I would recommend exiting the Battleground. Because Blizzard has taken a stance that if you do 0 damage and 0 healing over a certain amount of games (we aren’t given the #, but it is a lot). then you will be actioned for non-participation.

Just to note, this is also not an automatic thing. Other players would have had to report you, and then a GM would take a look at your BG participation stats and decide if account action was warranted. You can definitely appeal, though the numbers kinda are what they are.

Ok, over a certain peroid of time, Blizzard has been investigating you over for nonparticipation, and found that a majority of your matches had you doing either no damage or no healing.

And if you’re one to just go and sit at an objective when nobody is around in a battleground, then that will do it.

Providing I’ve found the right Bnet among the three I found - this was for nonparticipation between the 13th and the 19th.

The metric we’ve seen for these so far generally mean doing zero dps and heals across a majority of the games they looked at.

It is impossible to do this and actually play the BG you signed up for. I play plenty of epic BGs, so do many others.

Moving forward suggest doing some dps or some heals in the BGs you Q for.

Yeah we’ve seen the argument before.”I’m defending.”

Please don’t say you were defending Snowfall

i did grab a water the BG wasnt even going yet still on opening timer; playing every game to stop the enemy from winning so fast im using consumables, doing damage and gaining hks. doing more damage when were behind and less when were ahead. it seems as if you can only play the game a certain way and not like you want to or enjoy. sad day i just started to pvp last week and didnt like the fact that alliance was throwing the games for speed / honor per hour i wanted to play the game as i seen fit in an attempt to stop them so we could win.

well maybe she can come back with more details, but the last time someone had a topic like this
it’s because they did 0 damage and healing for a number of games
zero
as in you literally go out of your way to not hit an enemy or heal an ally

As in you literally hide in the vicinity of the least contested tower or GY and soak free honor while hoping no one comes along to challenge you.

Battlegrounds are team event, not something you can run off on your own and do. What little we know about the non-participation category:

  • Your team mates did not feel you were helping them. They did not approve of your strategy and reported you.
  • Blizzard found that more than 50% of your games between the 13th and 19th had ZERO damage or healing. Zero.
  • A penalty was then issued.

If you want to avoid penalties you will want to actually work with your team and do damage or healing, whichever your role is. Going off and “defending” a target that nobody comes to generally is not a good strategy.

If you were doing damage, then you wouldn’t be here on the forums telling us you were suspended for nonparticipation.

Anyways, if you wish to appeal this, feel free to appeal it.

Just keep in mind, Blizzard can see everything.

It is the “story” that all the AFKers have told each other to go on the forums and tell. I’m guessing they think that if they say it enough players will start to believe that Blizzard is suspending people for just defending and not being tops in healing and/or damage.

It is what the cheaters do all the time, they have Discord groups and Reddit groups that are just for talking about how to spin the story to try and get the most players to rally around them and hopefully force Blizzard to back down.

If whatever objective you are running to and guarding every single match isn’t contested the majority of the time, that’s probably a good hint that you don’t need to be defending it every match.
It’s one thing to fall back and watch a flag when you think it’s likely to be attacked, but it’s another to do the exact same thing every match that involves you doing 0 damage or healing for the majority of your matches.

In my own experiences I have learned that if a strategy I am using isn’t effective after a couple matches, I change up what I’m doing and adapt to each match. I don’t just run to the same flag every match and sit there the entire match no matter what else is going on.

This is probably an and, not an or.

It’s plausible that a healer would participate by doing a lot of healing and 0 damage, or that some DPS classes would show as having done 0 healing while doing a bunch of damage.

Nonparticipation requires neither healing and damage. Basically, no activity to put it in better terms.
