A few days ago, I was banned for: “acquired gold through illicit means, such as gold buying, botting, or participating in other real-money transactions.”
I didn’t buy any gold, the only gold I have gotten is from some I won in a twitch giveaway from a reasonably sized streamer. I can prove as much with the likes of vods but they are too large to upload, I added a link to the channel but the only response I get was an automated one saying to look at the ToS (which I did and I didn’t violate any of them)
I can understand something like “the gold you got was actually ill-gotten and then passed on to you so we have removed it” but to just be outright banned for 2 weeks and the appeal process for something this serious be “beep boop too bad” even with evidence against the ban feels like a bit of a slap in the face.

It’s a necessary measure, unfortunately. People don’t really understand the gravity of the situation, and it’s good that you’ve identified a major facet of ill-gotten gold that people tend to come through here with. No one can really know where some person got the gold they’re giving away. Some people just want to watch the world burn and take out as many people as they can in the process.
It’s critical to always be aware of things in these situations. Did they give you the gold on a level 1/10 alt or their main character? It’s possible even they didn’t know they were in possession of malign gold, but lately it’s been just a bunch directly from the source.
But as mentioned, posting here will not accomplish anything, I’m afraid. You can only keep up with the Appeals process and hope it turns out in your favor.

it was their main character that they actively play at level 80 in high rated PvP, one that has things like spectral tiger, bruto etc. Honestly, I don’t think they knew the gold they had was illicit either as it seems like a lot to risk just for a gotcha sort of thing.
Well blizzard traces the gold and the streamer will be punished just like u.

Blizzard views receiving stolen/illicit gold from an unsupported transaction as strict liability. If you got any, you can get suspended, even if you didn’t know.

The hard part here is you conducted a lot of the transfer related activities outside of game, so they cannot verify your story. Even with VoDs/screenshots/etc, they couldn’t because they don’t know if you doctored them or not. They only go by ingame stuff to validate.
Most likely they had received illicit gold from some sort and passed that gold onto you as a reward unknowingly. But keep in mind all blizzard can see is the illicit gold transfer. They can’t tell if it was unknowing or not. For all they know you could have worked this whole thing out of game, the streamer “chose” you as the winner, and passed you the gold all to hide an RMT transaction and look innocent. I’m not saying you did this, but on their end they cannot verify the opposite.

Think about it. If they used AI, you’d think it would be a bit better at eliminating the false positives.
Just like claims that they use AI in the GM responses - yet, the ticket queues are high and often the responses are incorrect (wrong template selected etc).
I’m well aware AI is far from perfect, but come on… Don’t believe everything you hear or read…

First of all, it isn’t mass flagging. You’re also partaking in help with derailment towards the thread. People have every right to flag a post if they feel it is in violation of the Forum Code of Conduct.
Just because a post of yours get flagged by the community, doesn’t mean they don’t have the right to do so. In the end, it is for the moderation to decide if the post does violate the Forum Code of Conduct, and what actions to take, not the community.
Now, just like everyone else, I’d suggest also in not derailing the thread, and hijacking it.

This one seems to be getting derailed so I will be locking this one down for now.
