Technically speaking you only pay for access to their servers nothing more.
I don’t think it’s a big deal if people are temporarily inconvenienced on 1 of the 3 sets of servers for 1 of the 3 builds of the game they pay for.
If they don’t like the inconvenience on SoD, there are other ways to play classic era where the restriction does not apply (in addition to 2 other games).
At the moment I feel discriminated against, harassed violently in that they do not indicate the cause of their update, since if it is due to a bot I am open to proving that I play fairly and that they do not consider me within their restrictions.
You already agreed that blizzard is allowed to do exactly this.
“Alterations to the Platform and Availability. Blizzard may change, modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Platform, Games, or Accounts at any time, including removing items, or revising the effectiveness of items in an effort to balance a Game. Blizzard may also impose limits on certain features or restrict your access to parts or all of the Platform, Games, or Accounts without notice or liability.”
If you change your mind and no longer agree with this document, you are free to have your account deleted.
Regardless of your generalization it wasn’t a bait & switch and blizzard is well within their right to do what they want with their game. We have no say so in the matter other than to vote with our wallets.
Found a Blue in another thread
I’ll give you my story. I know you don’t care, but this is why it’s frustrating to me.
I started playing SoD, and only SoD late February as a way to escape from some personal issues going on in my household. I cannot leave my house much due to these issues, so this is the way I decided to spend my money. I chose SoD because, after I quit in 2010, I didn’t want to “relearn” the game (retail), but still wanted something new. SoD seemed like a good fit.
When I subscribed in late February, had they told me “40+ days into your subscriptions, after you’ve leveled numerous max level characters, and joined a guild you really like raiding with, we are going to indefinitely suspend your AH, Mail and trading privileges,” I would not have subscribed.
I know you think this is fine and good. I don’t think it is. I also don’t think “reroll a classic or retail” character is a very good, practical, or serious solution.
So you getting caught up in this whole thing is the bug (which if you believe the blue in another thread, should have been resolved by now).
They are not going to delete an entire system that looks promising, before having a chance to see how it does, because it’s bugged in an edge case.
Why would I believe the blue in the other thread when I know, for certain, it hasn’t been resolved?
You’ve checked in the last 15 minutes that you can’t mail anything?
Your “story” does not matter. Blizzard has imposed these restrictions (and is accepting as much feedback on them as possible, though Not. In. Here.), and every customer is treated the exact same. Your “story” does not grant special privileges or access to anything more than what you pay for.
Great. Leave your feedback where it will be seen by the people who need to see it.
That place is not in here. You are screaming into the void here. Nothing will come from posting in here, and your feedback will not be seen by anyone who can consider it when deciding on the next steps.
This thread could go back and forth forever. Players that are affected feel attacked and unfairly treated, while players that aren’t affected just say to suck it up. I’m sure there would be a little more care if it involved everyone, not just specific accounts.
I think the biggest issue is players that either are currently over 30 days, or are approaching it, are worried that their sub is going to renew, and Blizzard will continue to ignore it while we keep paying in hopes that something is rectified, while also knowing from responses that Blizz employees truly do not care about an individual can’t play.
The players that are not affected will just say “cope” and go on continuing to actually get what they pay for, however I think that if those people were suddenly not able to play their reactions would be wildly different. It’s easy to say “sucks to be hungry” when you’re being fed.
The biggest problem is not having any clear indication that this actually will get fixed at some point for all accounts over 30 days old. We will just continue to pay money and wait, just to continue getting automated responses about how the account may not meet the requirements (when it definitely does), and keep submitting bug reports into a void.
“A very small number of you may have seen this restriction erroneously applied to your accounts periodically in the past week while we wrestled with some edges case, these have now been resolved. Once an account has passed this aging threshold, it will never see this restriction again.”
This part isn’t true. This was erroneously applied to my account and it has not been resolved.
What’s my next course of action?
“Suck it up” is not a phrase that has been said anywhere in this thread.
Players are being told that if they are affected by the bug that is not lifting the restrictions in 30 days, to post on the Bug Report Forum. This is the ONLY place where their issue can be resolved.
Players are also being told that if they are unhappy with the restrictions, put your feedback in places where the developers will see it. That is the ONLY place where their feedback has any sway. That place is NOT in this forum or thread.
Still can’t. =(
Again, that message was posted 19 minutes ago. Have you completed logged out of the game and launcher, restarted your computer, then restarted the game (without addons) to see if the issue has been resolved?
If the issue is persisting, then you need to URGENTLY post in the Bug Report Forum. Again, that is the ONLY place to go for solving bugs.
You know what to do then:
Restarted. Even re-downloaded the client. Did everything. Still not working.
The issue has not been resolved. The blue post was either untrue or misinformed. A bug post has been posted.
To me it’s important this information is everywhere so players in my position know they aren’t alone.
