Now I’ll admit as much as a lot of people don’t like boosting, I don’t have the time outside of my weekend to play much so it’s a way for me to catch up faster. I started a toon on anniversary and from lvl 10-40ish got it boosted in multiple dungeons. I’m wondering if I’m able to get ahold of someone via phone on wow’s team to get a understand on why it’s a permanent ban.
Why cheapen the experience for yourself by boosting?
No one will speak to you on the phone.
All you can do is appeal the decision until they tell you to stop. Good luck.
No, there is no phone number to call. Truly, there has never been a phone number to call for appeals, and that’s why the Billing and Tech Support numbers are no longer available.
You need to open a Support ticket to appeal.
A blue poster may be able to look into your ban and give some general advice.
When it comes to boosting, it’s allowed but unsupported. However, the type of people you deal with in the boosting community are often unscrupulous people, dealing in many things that are not allowed. If there’s any gold being passed back and forth, there’s a good possibility that it was stolen.
On the pessimistic side, I’m actually curious how you can afford boosting prices if you don’t have time to play, especially to the extent that you need a boost. These are not cheap services. So if you engaged in any level of swapping gold from other iterations of WoW or even straight out purchased gold yourself, then that’s very likely why this happened.
No. You cannot, tickets are the only option to appeal, always have been.
I’m just looking for more information over tbh, I know some people with the ban wave got 2 week, 1 month or 6 month bans, so I’m just curious on why mine is perma. I appreciate your information and time. <3
How do you know you were banned for boosting, was that specifically called out in the email you received about the ban, or are you just thinking that was the problem?
One of the Blizzard reps here might be able to provide a bit more information for you, though understand it will be very general, and they are no in anyway able to help you with the current ban. Your only option here is to submit an appeal which you probably want to do, especially if you feel you did nothing wrong, as mistakes can happen.
Total account bans simply aren’t typical, even if you participated in RMT as buyer, and generally would only occur with more serious offenses, or on accounts which had numerous actions against them.
The email states that I was banned for “Unauthorized Cheat Programs (Hacks)”. I do run a VPN, but nothing to automate any facet like scripts.
This would not be for getting boosted, this is typically what you would see occur with people who are botting or using cheat programs. I suspect you were likely caught in the latest ban wave, these go out periodically to target and eliminate goldsellers/bots.
While typically these are usually pretty good and we don’t see a large number of false positives, in the latest ban wave, it appears to have flagged a number of accounts incorrectly based on some what we have seen people posting, far more then normal.
While obviously I have no insight into your case, I strongly recommend submitting an appeal at you first opportunity, and hopefully you aren’t one of those that is being impacted by the current reporting issues.
Good luck with your appeal.
Thank you for the wishes and the information, it’s greatly appreciated. <3
Just to be clear on this, every banwave has false positives and there’s really no indication that this one had more than normal. There’s also an AFK/non-participation ban wave that seems to have happened recently, and those kind of banwaves have a higher potential for false positives.
Yes/No, I don’t recall seeing quite as many false positives normally, and we have seen about 10+ threads recently, both in the CS forum, and other forums for people getting actioned, where in almost all we have seen the blues come back noting a positive result with the bans getting overturned.
So while maybe I am perceiving it different than normal and this is a regular thing, either way, the appropriate answer here, especially if they feel they did nothing wrong, is to appeal.
The forums handle a very small amount of players in this game. We really don’t have any information about how many false positives there are, or how it compares. This one may have had more or less, but forum traffic/internet outrage is not really a way to measure these things.
As I said, there seems to be (at least) two different banwaves recently, and it seems the AFK/non-participation banwave has had most of those positive results. But there’s really no way to know the numbers. That’s Blizzard’s territory, and they don’t usually release them.
Oh definitely agree with this, and that was somewhat the reason for the question about the email, as for those with the AFK issues in BGs thats a completely different issue and those are a bit more messy I expect, and I suspect many of them wont see a positive result if they appeal, like with many other issues, those are also mostly short suspensions though, but even for people I suspect likely deserve the action against them, still the advice is appeal, or ask questions if they feel the action was wrong.
Agree also that having more false positives also doesn’t really show the true picture of a ban wave also since we also don’t know how many valid actions were taken, so it could have been very successful, yet still picked up some innocent players. In this case the posters story seems genuine to me, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt in this case, but ultimately their fate will be determined by Blizzard and actual data.
They said:
This wasn’t on Retail.
As for the OP I wonder if the booster was using wall/fly hacks to boost you.
I’m curious about that, it would make the most sense for Maraudon. But the runs took around 20-25 minutes. It would make sense to ban by association, but once again I wouldn’t have known because it’s a random person marketing it in chat.
- appreciate the correction on Upyours ragebait
Regardless, Appeal and keep appealing until they kindly ask you to stop (aka you had a final appeal). Each appeal is seen by a different person.
Where it was categorized as Unauthorized Cheat Programs it may take a few attempts and the Hacks team to double check logs from my understanding.
Be kind and don’t use harsh language and bash them when appealing.
Also is this a Bnet account ban or License Ban?
License ban I believe, I’m still able to play hearthstone of the acc.
I did send an appeal in and got:
"Greetings,
I see that you have an inquiry regarding your account status. However, this penalty has already been upheld.
Further requests on this topic will not be reviewed."
With this being stated, should I continue putting in tickets or is this the stopping point?
It’s a License ban then not an account ban. An account ban would close your entire account so you wouldn’t be able to play Hearthstone on your account.
The good news is if you exhaust your appeals and it’s still a perma ban you can add a new WoW License to your account. (WoW 2 for example). You would retain all of your achievements, cosmetics, mounts, etc that you earned on your WoW 1 License but you would have to start over with characters.
I’d still wait until you exhaust all of your appeals before you spend money on a new WoW License though (as you would need to buy the Retail expansion and pay for a new sub).
What do you mean by exhaust my appeals? On top of that question with the GM already stating “Further requests on this topic will not be reviewed” should I continue to put tickets in?
If they said they will no longer review, I believe that means final. I wouldn’t press my luck any further. And that further contact about it won’t be accepted.
