A Very very Minor Change that no one will complain about

Not the only things but part of it… I think it’s important you realize what makes that all things are interconnected in the formula that makes a hit and if you want to replicate it you need all the parts. Yes even the ones you consider bad or unfun

Uh no, not ever in Classic. They can add those changes to other games that aren’t Classic.

Not wanting changes doesn’t mean we are unwilling to listen. But when you start trying to change things to make the game more convenient you take away from what the game was.

No says slippery slope…Then every other class will want something.

How does item stacking hurt RP? Should nothing stack in your bags then? How in the world does your mount fit in your bags?? Oh God the magic of bag inventory is ruining the RP experience!

Also it’s very rude to throw accusations at the OP like that. You should not say that he does not know how to play his class simply cause he wants shards to stack. Also emptying his bags might very well not be difficult. Irritating or frustrating would be a more appropriate word.

We have over a decade of evidence that shows where changes lead to

If only I believed you actually meant it.

Item stacking factors into several aspects. First is the inventory management which was a key part of vanilla.
Secondly is that it affects balance. A Warlock could only hold so many shards. Now imagine a Warlock who can hold an additional 20 times the soul shards he normally could. Basically has access to unlimited amounts of shadow burn casts

So, my little gnomish friend. I have 10 soul shards in my bag. And then when I’m killing something, I cast drain soul on it and suck in their soul and make it into a little item. It’s the 11th one in my bag. I can take it to their family and put it on the table, or spin it on my finger as I talk about what I did to their loved one. Or I can crush it and use the power I gain to summon a demon from the twisting nether. You know, because evil warlock. How am I suppose to do that if they’re all stacked up?

Part of the deal is that having 30 soul shards is a lot! It’s not easy to walk around with dozens of souls from your victims.

But if you want a more plain answer. Soul shards are larger than you think and don’t stack nicely. Which should sort of be obvious just by looking at the icon… it kinda looks like a squished dodecahedron, but it’s clearly a bit different… I’m not sure what you would call the shape.

To late we’ve already seen changes and we will see more. I’m fine with small qol changes, just don’t want lfg, Transmog, sharding and I’ll be fine.

Except blizzard has literally already said this isn’t a remaster.
Furthermore not only did most of us expect the changes they have listed but blizzard has modified some of the changes to prevent abuse.

Furthermore soul shard stacking isn’t a little change and affects balance.

This game was created to have patches and continuous balance changes. Of course it’s going to have changes. No version of wow was designed to be static it wouldn’t make sense

They are literally designing Classic to be a static version of WoW. A museum piece.

lol. Of course. But there are already changes friend

We already know that’s not true… look at the last couple of announcements.

Making changes before the launch is somehow not designing it to be an endlessly static version… right…

Yeah I don’t really want to battle immortal Warlocks who have effectively unlimited shards.

There is a reason why you have a limit.

I must be no one, because I will complain about it.

yeah now you’re cherry picking an argument. You said it’s supposed to be a museum piece when they’ve already made significant changes that prove otherwise.

This.

Also, @ the OP… As a warlock main, stacking vanilla era shards would be a very bad thing for non warlocks. I’d spend every second between BGs farming more and be using Soulfire/Shadowburn as often as possible rather than them being situational spells. And believe me, the last thing the vanilla world needs is my warlock doing even more damage in a bg situation… Enough people are going to die without effectively giving me unlimited shards.

The only soul shard “change” imo that should be added, is officially supporting the old “Soul Stamp” addon and baking it into the standard UI.

All the addon did was name each shard from the target you got it from. For example, if I killed Maeser above me, I’d get a shard named “Maeser”. No gameplay impact, tons of vanilla RPG flavor… and with the added benefit of being officially supported rather than an addon, the shards might be able to retain those names between sessions (the vanilla addon version would reset to to a “generic soul shard” if you relogged)… Also if officially supported/baked into the game it would have the benefit of being written by someone who actually knows what they’re doing, rather than having to be attempted by a novice/hobbyist programmer named Åpocalypse.

I’m not cherry picking anything thing. Just because you don’t understand what they’re doing doesn’t mean anything. Yes, they’re not making a 1:1 recreation of Vanilla. That said, they’re making the game, so once it’s released, all they have to do is turn on the gated content as needed, and once it’s all out there, they’re done. They are not going to be doing anything but fixing bugs after launch and activating content.
