A simple solution to the vote kick issue

I mean… we have seen what protections do. In wrath your " cant be kicked timer" increased each time you got kicked. It lead to people with multihour kick protection timers.

I honestly believe less then 1 in 10 kicks is undeserved.

Well, thankfully its Ion and Crew who make the decisions for the game.
we know the kick has been modified before over issues…so hopefully if this continues long enough Ion and crew will take notice and make some more tweaks to the kick system

It’s amazing that it is literally the 3rd thing I write in the original post and how many people miss that.

I can’t help but wonder if some of the people here reacting so negatively are probably people who enjoy voting to kick others, but don’t want to admit that so they just attack people instead

I know you’re not writing me, but I understand this. I really pull my weight in this content. I understand my group’s capability and if I get the sense that they want it to go quick I’ll pull the world, if they are struggling I’ll chill out. If I am dpsing then I’m probably top dps. If I am healing I am making sure nobody dies. This is a normal dungeon … it is not a font of skill and it is not hard for someone with a modicum of skill to perform well.

Again someone who failed to read the whole post OP, with the idea actually having accounted for that. Go up and read the whole thing, I’ve addressed this in the original post.

EDIT: Here it is for reference:
there are plenty of vote-to-kicks that are for real reasons and it is hard to distinguish. I think if someone goes offline, the group has a valid reason to vote kick. If someone has been afk for a minute, that could also count. Perhaps some recent keywords in chat could also count. Perhaps if the person hasn’t started a vote to kick for more than a week, that could also count as a “valid” vote to kick.

As of now the kick feature works the same in all queued content and the debuff is the same no matter what content you’re “exiting” for whatever reason (even in LFR with loot lock outs for backfillers). Blizzard really needs to understand that the blanket debuff isn’t appropriate in all situations and adjustments should be made in for LFR and people being vote kicked. 15 minute debuffs for willingly leaving content is more than enough of a punishment as well…

I’ve seen it and don’t discount the many issues there are with how it currently “works”. Although I do think it has been happening less, it may be because people are steering away from “leveling” and/or the gear progression isn’t as useful… perhaps people have been burned by others abusing “features” that Blizzard has no intention of changing.

They appeared to be “tough” when keys started getting bricked… but when queued content was/still is being abused it’s “working as intended”. The debuff got buffed after “the trinket incident”… and they got some of you to believe that people actually “wanted” this? No, stop punishing the player base for people who are abusing the system first… like you did with M+ abuse.

Last expansion Blizzard made the vote kick anonymous, this was mistake #1.

They also gave players the ability to freely type in a reason, that was mistake #2.

The vote kick should be an off to the side notification that allows you to keep fighting freely as well, having it pop up in the middle of your screen making it difficult to keep playing is mistake #3.

Lastly allowing players to anonymously vote kick with no limiting factors at all is mistake #4.

They needed to solve the issues with this months ago, it does look bad.

Yes, it does. But some of these issues are blatantly punishing to the player base and are unnecessary. A problem does exist, that why it keeps…

I think with most its not so much being maliscious as skimming posts and missing details.
Sometimes I’ll read a post three or four times and still miss what someone is saying. lol.
Other times it probably is intentionally spinning what is being said for a strawman response…lord knows we see enough of that. lol.

in some cases its just to argue for arguments sake…no real points being made, just listening to our own voices in the wind, Im sure.

It’s such a minority that want to make a big deal out of it.

That’s what I’m saying! LOL

We did. Until someone returned.

Certainly some overlap between the people that just brush it off here and the people whose vote kicks I would decline in-game.

Especially when you count in the original queue time…then the timeout…then a new queue wait…its easily an hour or more depending on the day and hour.

ANY system can be abused. Its silly to say otherwise. Offering blanket pardons doesnt void the abuses, it just means the company knows they dont have the manpower to deal with the problem.
And thats fine, just tweak the system a bit…and then announce publicly that blizzard doesnt condone or promote kicking players who havent warranted being kicked by their own behavior.
That at least puts the responsibility on the kicker instead of blizzard allowing themselves to be the scapegoat.

There are 3 answers to everything. 1) the real answer, 2) the joke answer, 3) the worst answer.

It seems people always view 1) as the joke, look at 2) way too hard and end up doing 3).

I do not know why this is truth, but when I find out why I shall tell the world so that I can be laughed at for the madwoman I am.

The reason this change was implemented was due to the player population whining and crying about people leaving Ara Kara after the first boss.

So what does Blizz do? they go hog-wild and OVERCORRECT by doubling down on punishments for players instead of taking a hard look at what caused this to begin with.

  1. They could have balanced all the trinkets in the season to ensure there wasn’t some STUPIDLY OP one that everyone would want
  2. They could force loot to be @ the end of the dungeon like they do in M+ – ensuring people will stay for the whole thing and not leave to begin with
  3. They could have been SMART and NOT put a trinket on the first boss and just moved it to the last one. (I’m a bigger fan of doing this since they already do it in raid)

I dont think its fair to punish kicked players immediately. They should be kicked more than 2 or 3 times consecutively to get a deserter debuff.
I also want a dungeon blacklist on the random dungeon finder …b/c it sends them feedback that maybe something they created was hot dogwater and they need to fix it.

There was on run maybe two years into me playing wow where someone had tried to kick someone and when it failed they seemed to go on a rampage trying to kick anyone they could. lol. The kick kept popping and failing like 10 times or more lol.
Kinda do want to know who is trying to kick at a point so you can kick them for disrupting a run with the kicks lol

This is a typical response from a certain person in all of these threads. And it’s just gaslighting. If you cannot survive in your argument through debate itself, then just quit debating. Don’t devolve into nonsense.

The Sacbrood was easy to farm, though. People just do not think their way around obstacles and figure out how to beat them.

That trinket should NEVER have been on the first boss, period. That was a smooth-brain move on Blizz’s part. What did they THINK was going to happen?

Like Blizz didn’t think around the obstacle of just moving the trinket to the last boss instead of changing the debuff system?

VERY reasonable.
the real trolls will end up with the timeout soon enough, but that couple freebies allows for those who havent done anything wrong to get back to the game and hopefully into a better group of players.

Why not? Made getting them easy.

good point. If you have to stay till the end to get it, no one is gonna bail early.

I still don’t understand how or why you people are getting kicked so often. I’ve been playing since vote kick was introduced, I’ve been kicked once. I’ve seen votes to kick people extremely rarely and it was almost always someone who was AFK or DC’ed or just trolling.

Um, are you following the thread?

Making it so OP that every other trinket was crap compared to it (in dungeons) + putting it on a first boss CREATED the issue of Ara Kara groups immediately falling apart on the first boss.

People are kicking new tanks in Timewalking or leveling dungeons for not going fast enough. People expect these newbies to play it like a timed M+ run which is just unfair and toxic AF
People are kicking players who die in leveling dungeons and take a while to catch up b/c maybe they’re truly lost or having a hard time keeping up

This is toxic behavior and it’s going unchecked b/c whiny max level players were pissypants about Ara Kara leavers.
