[A-RP/Soc] <Veritas> - Take a Break from Adulting!

In a few select taverns, common halls, and libraries scattered across Kul Tiras, Stormwind and Ironforge, a few carefully penned noticed are placed on the notices bulletin board, each marked at the bottom with a red wax seal bearing a flame. Below the notice are pinned some neatly penned business cards, with the unusual instruction to crack the miniature seal on the card if you wish to speak further. (For those sensitive to the arcane, you’ll detect a very faint residue of magic on both the letter and the cards.)

Good Gentles,

The Order of Veritas seeks a few able-bodied adventurers and scholars to assist us in an upcoming effort. All walks of life are welcome, though personal integrity and competence are a must. Pay rates commensurate with experience._

Our mission is to secure certain objects of interest from the hands of those who seek power, self-enrichment, or especially those allied with the Banshee Queen and her efforts at the destruction of Life itself. Scholars, historians, diplomats and acquisitions-specialists are preferred, but anyone with a thirst for knowledge, an upstanding character - more or less - and a healthy curiosity is considered. Our methods vary, but we prefer wits and skill over brute force - at least, as much as such things are possible in this era.

Should you wish to learn more, please contact me directly. My cards are placed below - simply snap the seal and you will receive further instructions. Alternatively if you prefer, simply pen a letter and leave it pinned to the board here, and I shall read and respond forthwith.

In Service,
Lady Shinnorah Nightsbane, Archivist of Veritas

TL:DR (cause I’m wordy):
We’re good people. We have good times. We’ve got a cool, semi-secret society historian/adventure theme and we roleplay as often as we can. We’re stable, low drama, and casual friendly. We’re older, but if you’re cool you can play on our lawn. We don’t use a lot of Discord. We love using the WoW Community feature. We LOVE in guild chat/in person RP, and doing light PvE content with friends, and that’s our focus.

Read on for specifics and details!!

((OOC:

For more info, check out orderofveritas dot com/forum/ - you can read our stories and some of our current adventures to see if it’s up your alley!

Veritas is a smaller but stubbornly active group of mid life RPers with extensive tabletop and RP backgrounds. Our guild has been around continuously since 2007 under the same leadership, and we will remain together for as long as there is a WoW, continuing to foster friendships, run RP events, and just hang out and have fun together! Some OOC details pertaining to who we are and what we do:

  • Guild level events average about one a week, plus regular alt leveling groups and some lower mythics, and the rest of the time left open for individual RP and ad-hoc interactions. It’s been a bit more reserved and sparse between the holidays and Classic, but we’ve got a few regulars still leveling alts and RPing.

  • Our RP is a mix of guild chat, spontaneous smaller in person events, and larger D&D style campaigns. Guild chat is entirely IC, with OOC being through our community. Our communicator is a mix of magic and gnomish engineering, and may be carried with you and switched on or off as needed.

  • Peak play times are evenings server time, most of us are at work during the days.

  • We require 22+ IRL, and most of us are in our 30s and 40s. Gen X FTW! (No disrespect to younger folks, but when it comes to brass tacks I’m also a college professor IRL and I don’t want to cross the streams between work and play.)

  • We are very inclusive - managed by a woman and with many female, minority, and LGBT members. We welcome gamers of all backgrounds.

  • While many of us have RPed for longer than some of you are old, we’ve got everything from new RPers to old hands. All levels and experiences welcomed, and we love introducing new people to RP!

If this sounds interesting to you, please ping me at BattleNet Shinnorah#1801, or Discord Norah#0859. If during business hours on a weekday, please be patient - I can’t use these at the office, so I can’t respond until I am home from work.

Hmmm, I’ve been looking for a smaller adventuring type of guild with likeminded folks. I will search you out.

Delighted to chat with you! More dwarfs == more winning (I LOVE dwarves and wish I had more time to play mine!)

I believe Isral (or his alt Barrush) is on this afternoon, otherwise I expect to be around tonight after 6pm Central (or shortly after, depending on how long it takes the toddler to go to sleep). I’ll keep an eye out!

Former Veritas alumni here! I was with the guild from the first days back in Burning Crusade up until Cataclysm-ish when things simmered down gameplay-wise. But Norah, Ehrengar, and crew have always been an awesome bunch. Good to see you back Norah! If you’re looking for a group of well-versed adventurers. These are your people.

Aww, thanks Aeriah! Great to hear from you, and best of luck with your new project!

Happy New Year Moon Guard. Please feel free to to join us (or ask for more information) on our two upcoming adventures:

The Search for the Codex Malefictus, starting this coming weekend, and

The Eclipse Athame, beginning Jan 12 at 7pm server

Our next community RP campaign begins Saturday!

Colleagues,
I have stumbled across a situation that I believe merits further investigation by our society. It is a bit unusual and may perhaps, at first glance, seem outside our purview. However, instinct tells me this bears the hallmark of something we should consider.

My recent travels took me to Westfall, and in the taverns I encountered some farmers complaining about gnolls and kobolds stealing their harvest. As a druid of the land, this struck my interest and gained my attention - while it would not be unheard of, especially in times of drought, both are usually timid creatures unwilling to attack human settlements.

What makes this even stranger is that the gnolls are accused of stealing saplings. Neither fruit, nor food, but saplings. I have never heard of such a thing - these creatures are nomadic, not prone to settlements nor inclined to grow and harvest crops. What use would they have for saplings?

I gathered what information I could from the locals, but you may have better luck. While the worgen are formally a part of the Grand Alliance these days, I think too many farmers hold superstitions and wive’s tales concerning our nature. In a group, I am sure it would have been fine - but me on my own, I remain convinced they expected me to devour them that night. Perhaps it is their proximity to Duskwood…perhaps just an old belief they’re reluctant to release.

In any case, I would advise our society explore this. That night, I did go to check upon the fields - and while I found little trace of gnolls (though it was night), I most definitely could sense a strong and ancient druidic influence within the fields.

Please let me know if I can be of further use. My travels still take me far afield, but I shall check my communicator or check in with Lady Norah if you need my assistance. Otherwise, I leave this in your capable hands, friends.

Goldrinn’s Grace,

  • Rhislayne Allyn

((Just to be clear - anyone who wants to tag along tonight is welcome to join us, member or no. I’m not advertising the event separately to the entire community to keep numbers manageable, but if you have an interest in occult, arcane, or druidic/nature magic or solving mysteries you’re welcome to join us and see what we’re about. Feel free to message me in the meantime on Discord with questions if you have any! I expect the adventure to play out over 5-6 sessions, likely all on Saturday evenings around 7pm server.))

The expedition into Westfall went well, though left us with more questions than answers. Monday, we go to Raven Hill to do some research between the planes of the living and the dead, and next Saturday we will reconvene in Duskwood.

Come join us, and see the sorts of mysteries and mayhem we explore!

Through a dangerous ritual, we learned of a tragic tale from a bard that gained the immortality and fame he desired, but at a terrible cost. We followed the trail hensent us in, towards a fight with enchanted apple saplings that fought us branch and root! Next, we’re following some leads to Moonglade…

Our next adventure concerns a Goblin broker, @Pipit, who’s found an artifact that may be of some value to us. It apparently has some highly unusual properties, so we’re off to Everlook to examine it and see what more we can learn.

Our new story starts tomorrow, Thursday, so if you’re free please feel free to see what we’re up to! It’s a great time to jump in.

If you have a community that is separate from a joining the guild I would really love to join the community and take part in role play with you all.

Thanks Haeven!

Excited to try out the new Kul Tiran allied race and participate in some fun pulp-style hijinxs? Feel free to check us out! I may be on an alt, so feel free to use Discord or BNet, or just do a “Who Veritas” and ask anyone you see if an officer is around for more info. Thanks!

Come join us! Found a murder most foul we be asked ta investigate, an’ I suspect it be jes’ the tip o’ the iceberg as they say…

Still hanging around in spite of all the Classic buzz! Activity isn’t as robust as it was at launch (combination of folks being busy during the summer, some over on Classic, and BfA probably not being the most exciting or replayable expansion). But a lovely group of old hands still hanging out and enjoying the casual, older gamer lifestyle!

We’re starting up regular RP nights either on Wednesdays or Thursdays - think of it as a bit of a “television show arc” (Supernatural being a big inspiration). Some weeks will be “bottle episodes” where people just do a social RP event and get to know each other or develop concepts. Many will be “monster/adventure of the week”, a one-off contained RP story that wraps up within either one or two sessions. Other nights may be more of a “mythology” story that ties into the greater purpose of the guild and a meta-story arc that continues throughout. That way, it hopefully won’t ever feel stale or stuck in a rut (which sometimes “standing” events can in my experience.) Excited to try it out!

I am looking for something casual and relaxed. Still recruiting?

Hi all! Updating because I’ve just been slacking about forums lately. We’re still here, bring the beer! Or, something - I mean, one of our founders was a dwarf after all. (He still plays - same idea, different dwarf.)

It’s pretty chill right now, we’re mostly alting for that sweet, sweet anniversary XP and also cause it’s kind of that time in the game and things are pretty quiet. Community is hopping, guild is active but small til SL drops.

But if you’re looking for some low key RPers and cool adults to hang out with when you get a chance to play, come check us out. I can’t promise mobs of people all vying for your attention, but I CAN promise a lack of drama and emotional angst!

This actually sounds kind of perfect for me. Other than I work nights. But everything else is exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll drop a line in game or over Discord sometime soon.

Sounds great! Talaath tends to play later too, so if you don’t see me, look for him/Ardanthis. Or ping me on discord, Norah#0859. We’re all fairly sporadic bc Christmas, people on travel and busy with families, but on the up side I’m home from work too so…I’ll keep an eye out.
