Ok real question: If they add back in old flying, but keep it at the old speed (300%?), as many have requested… would you really be ok going so much slower then dragon riders?
People say they are ok with that, but would you really be? Or would the forum be full of posts about boosting old flying speed up to 800%?
Because I don’t really mind adding old/slow flying. I wouldn’t personally add it but I see many want it. But if you add it then boost the speed it would kill dragon riding, obviously. So it would have to stay slow…which would probably also annoy people.
It’s not DR vs regular flying atm, no one is getting punished. If DR was not added everyone would be running on the ground until pathfinder 1 and 2 was unlocked. So it’s DR or ground mount, in about a year we can bring the discussion back and debate DR vs regular flying.
I’m really hoping they don’t introduce legacy flying. I too am older than I used to be and also don’t see as well as I once did, but I have no issues using dragonriding. I use it just as well as I use any other system of the game.
I think legacy flight has done quite enough damage to the game over the years. No game designer that I know of and I know of quite a few thinks that style of unlimited unrestricted free form flight is good for a game be it WoW or any game. It has negative impacts on every facet of the game world from level design to player collision and socialization, and I look well forward to it’s ever nearing permeant removal.
For many of those who are wanting regular flying this isn’t even an issue they have said time and again that they rather have it be same speed as it is now all you dragon riders have to do is scan many of these posts.
Also in none of these posts are regular flyers wanting dragon riding removed where I have seen time and again the dragon riding cultists are wanting to remove regular flight.
There is simply no reason for regular flying in this particular expansion. Let it stand out and be unique. And seriously, you need to learn ONE thing to stay in the air for a whole zone or more. And collect maybe a 1/4th of the glyphs.
While I’m doing okay with dragon flying (aka flappy lizard game) it’s difficult to play for long periods of time due to age, eyes, and arthritis. So once again, I’m starting to spend more time in older zones.
If youre playing bright flashy colorful world of warcraft which requires sophisticated multi spell/ability usage constantly and saying dragonriding is too much?

I vote for regular flight to be added at some point. I like to take landscape screenshots sometimes and you can’t line up shots without being able to hover.
I shared your opinion OP, until I maxed flying in DL. I’m actually wishing they would allow your dragon mount in all zones. It’s much faster and feels more like flying. The only pain is gathering. It’s a little more clunky for that but not awful.
different things trigger different types of migraines. In my case, its triggering a mild motion sickness (and certain old mounts do the same thing, but not all old mounts, so i specifically don’t use those), and thats one of the things that triggers migraines for me. Flashy stuff? doesn’t trigger migraines. The faster movement is one of the things thats triggering for it
except that you either have to jump over and over, or speed up, to get anywhere without 20 stops. Once you get to the speed that vigor begins to recharge is the point it starts to cause issues.
I get what you are trying to say, but for some of us, its just a nightmare. I’m glad others are enjoying things, but I may have to unsub till they put in normal flight so it doesn’t keep giving me migraines and killing all my fun
But anytime i try to explain this all I get is basically insulted. Especially by people that want to make this the ONLY form of flight.
I really wish there were other methods of feedback. Every other method just says “goto the forums” where opposing sides do nothing but insult each other.
If you been playing since 2007 then you know that since wod you can not just fly right way and you have to unlock flying after 8 months… blizz did people a favor by having gliding like flying at day one… blizz already said that regular flying is going to be available in the future so if you wanna play it like other expansions and use your ground mount for 8 months then go ahead
But seriously if blizz doesnt keep making changes, good ones like this more fun/realistic dragonriding change, then what will wow be just the same exact game for another 20 years? Change is good. Embrace the change.
