A Pandaren Heritage subversion that the devs probably don't have the guts to try

Yes, this is very true. I mean there would be no need for a new world tree if the old one hadn’t been destroyed/burned to the a crisp with the population inside completely slaughtered for which the Horde “leader” is now chasing those souls around the maw to find them all.

This of course is YOU as the “champion” and of course every other individual player who is the “champion” and is largely in my opinion a giant plot hole. However we are where we are because of the writing as a whole.

I think it’s important to split the players experience as the “champion” from that of the Horde’s actions as a whole.

This is something being forced on the Alliance and the Alliance playerbase as whole due to the poor writing, this is not something that would EVER be acceptable in any ways in real life regardless of the “champions” actions. It’s akin to Israeli’s inviting in the bad guys from WW2 to hang out and be among them, COMPLETELY unacceptable and ridiculous on the face of it because of my first point.

This is an interesting idea, i do think there is some merit to the fact that the Horde and the Alliance have worked to fight Fyrakk and the Incarnates in general to help bring about the Tree’s birth for lack of a better term.

I don’t disagree with this, i think it’s a natural outcropping of having Nordrassil available when Teldrassil was destroyed AND i think your idea here would be much more in keeping with the Night Elves heritage and historical home on Kalimdor.

I don’t have a problem with the Night Elves having a new home in Amirdrassil and i also don’t have a problem with them deciding to give the Night Elves a completely new home instead of reviving Nordrassil but i DO have a problem with any new Night Elf city having Horde being allowed within it. I also think it’s pretty poor writing/story in that any Night Elf PC/NPC would see any Horde as not being complicit with what happened to Teldrassil, it’s just pretty ridiculous on the face of it and completely (imo) breaks any possible immersion in the game. The fact of the matter is there is NO WAY Night Elves who were at Teldrassil and then stuck in SW as refugee’s would EVER accept any Horde presence anywhere near their home city. If anything, it would be kill Horde on sight, ask questions later. It’s actually peak garbage writing as far as i am concerned and shows just how far the writing team has strayed from the Original WoW writing team.

It reminds me of peace at all costs no matter what Anduin which as far as i’m concerned should have been murdered for treason after his actions in BfA but that is a whole other story.

I completely understand and personally i think the bad writing is WHY folks are so frustrated, it has left folks with major gaps and holes in the story that they as the “champion” are supposed to be intertwined with. Why Blizzard felt that the Horde should be involved in any formation of a new Night Elf city is beyond me and flies in the face that the Horde IS the ones who destroyed the old one.

However its easy/cheaper to make one story and have both factions play it out in (as the “champion”) the new raid as opposed to creating a whole Alliance only story for the New Night Elf city even though the Horde get to do their own thing for Undercity. Don’t think we will see Alliance running around Undercity any time soon or any Horde capital cities at all, talk about destroying immersion.

If you are going to do that, then the Horde aren’t allowed in the city. The Champions are. As far as I am aware the only Horde in the city is Hammul Runetotem, the Horde’s representative Druid. All the other ‘Horde’ are the Champions who earned the tolerance.

Just like the entirety of burning the tree was forced on the Horde playerbase.

I agree with you, if the city had been on Hyjal, the Horde shouldn’t be there. Like I said, I have a problem with there being a Nelf capital at Amirdrassil. I have no problem with the Night Elves taking the forefront in building a united city and even administrating it.

It’s the capital part that rubs me the wrong way. From my view the Nelves are taking possession of something that all the races faught for equally. Even if, like you say, we remove the Champion’s actions from reflecting on their faction, all the races came together to fight for and protect tree. Both Alliance and Horde. Why do the Night Elves get to claim exclusivity to it?

ABSOLUTELY and to be perfectly honest i feel like a beloved character in Sylvanas was actually bent and then destroyed to shoehorn in the Jailer. I personally don’t feel like this is bad writing for the Alliance only in any way, i think this is overall bad handling of the franchise from the start of BfA until some semblance of old WoW now. I think DF has been a good expansion even with it’s own shoddy writing and glaring plot holes with just some ridiculous things happening but it’s not completely destroying characters to build a story.

I do think that Sylvanas will get some sort of redemption arc and i hope that it is actually something worthy of the character. In my mind Sylvanas is such an important character to the franchise as to be just slightly behind Arthas in her importance and i was actually glad to see them leave Arthas alone. He had his time, he had his story and i don’t want them to reach back into the well to do some sort of retcon or god forbid try to do an Arthas redemption arc, he is who he is as a character because he had his story and it stands tall on it’s own, leave him be and don’t touch. The (from my perspective) cheeky splitting of Sylvanas soul to shoehorn in what is quite possibly one of THE WORST villains of all time in pop culture in the Jailer is just completely terrible.

I really really hope when they do reintroduce Sylvanas that they do a good job with it, that they take the time to build a story that is fitting for a character of her stature. I hope that the Horde is treated properly story wise and not just a plot tool. The difference between how Garrosh was handled and how Sylvanas was handled is night and day in the story writing and build up of where the story was and how it played out.

I do agree. They should have built a new Night Elf capital as an ALLIANCE story and as i said above i have major issues with the Horde taking any part in it at all and to be honest from a story perspective, if you were a Night Elf civilian of Teldrassil there is just no way to accept any Horde in the new capital. Personally i get why Amirdrassil is on the Dragon Isles but i do think it takes the Night Elves out of Kalimdor in a way that is unnecessary and hurts them as a race, there is no connective tissue between Amirdrassil and anything else the Night Elves have called home on Kalimdor for 10k years.

I also say i have to agree that if they really wanted everyone to play nice then Amidrassil should have been envisioned as a city for all built around the shared fight in the Emerald Dream to give birth the Amirdrassil. However that is completely at odds with a new Night Elf capital, i’m having a problem even envisioning a Horde player even as the “champion” talking to Night Elf npc’s and how that conversation would even go. I feel like it would be “hello champion, good to see you, how’s your stay in Amirdrassil? Going better then your stay in Teldrassil? Yea, drop dead”. I feel for me personally it’s so incredibly broken in any sort of story telling.

Hammul is one of the best Horde characters to have be in Amirdrassil and that in and of itself works because he is probably as close to Neutral as you can get due to being a high level Druid and his own story and the Taurens connection to the earthmother and Elune as well. The “champion” would be fine if it wasn’t (from a gameplay) perspective every Horde toon and for that reason i would never have opened it up but i guess Blizzard felt it was necessary to have the entire playerbase be able to play in Amirdrassil (story wise as we have talked about it’s horrible) and from a practical gameplay perspective it will only have Horde players for a little bit as the story moves away from DF but that it can always have a Horde character in it will almost certainly irk the Alliance playerbase.

However we are where we are and i certainly hope that Blizzard improves it’s writing FAST and a LOT. There is a ton of work to do to “fix” what has happened and i have to believe Blizzard is well aware of the damage they did. Stuff like this is divisive and shows major issues with their writing team. I’m not looking for anyone to get fired or any garbage like that, i am just looking for improvement all the way around to the writing, the playerbase deserves it. The Alliance and Horde deserve better.

Just make their set a turtle-themed outfit after Shen-zin Su, a la TMNT.

They didn’t, of course i didn’t mention the Man’ari who are apparently part of the Alliance now. The question was asked about faction but i didn’t take it as necessarily player factions.

Don’tcha mean PMNP ~ Panda Mutant Ninja Pandas Pandas, in a turtle shell ~

But this is what the player base needs and wants. Playing all races in every faction, without consequences, after Blizzard tried to do “war” again and again, which always failed.

Hey, have you guys seen the trailer for KFP4? Should just rename the franchise to Ninjutsu Fennec. Maybe they’ll sunset Pandaren and give Vulpera a second heritage set instead. :upside_down_face:

You would kill innocents too if there was a questline for it with cool mounts, titles and rewards at the end. There is no chaos good / bad or justice good / bad, we are all mercenaries in this game who will do what ever it takes to get the good shiny new stuff off the loot readmill that is wow.

Honestly tell me if Blizzard actually made an exclusive alliance quest to go burn down thunderbluff and kill all the innocents, and you got this super cool mount, tabard, and title, alongside an achievement would you do it? Or would your values prevent you from doing the quest?

The players values mean nothing, it is the loot that drives us. Would I as a horde main would burn the second tree down again? If there is a questline and loot for it i would. If not i can’t be bothered. Just like the achievements to invade capital cities and kill the racial leaders. After you get the achievement no one wants to do it anymore but we are all willing to kill the racial leaders for an achievement and a mount at the end of the day if we don’t have it yet.

Excuse me who made you the representative of all WoW players? Because I’ve noticed a lot of people being VERY against that concept.

Because Blizzard officially acknowledged, in an interview, a year ago that the “war between faction” does not work anymore and they will distance themselves from this.

Can I get a link? I haven’t hated the devs enough today this should help me reach my quota.

It’s just one of the links I could just find, there are several more with the original quotes.
