A Pandaren Heritage subversion that the devs probably don't have the guts to try

No, they were sick of it, I was “there” when the expansion was live.

  • The Horde didn’t want to be part of a WW2-scenario with burning innocent people
  • The faction war ended with Legion, where everyone came together in the Class Halls
  • The constant “hate each other but come together every second expansion”-logic finally collapsed with BfA

I understand what you are saying, that is why i agreed with the poster i was talking too, the Horde playerbase was forced to do it, no doubt. And certainly you play a game to get a certain feel in this case the feel of the Horde and what it is and what it does. Honestly i don’t have a problem with the War, i have a problem with what is ultimately the writing that took place. Basically they needed to get Sylvanas from A to Z and they chose to do things like burn down Teldrassil…have no consequences from that other than Blightcaller was EVENTUALLY “killed” although not at that battle.

The problem with the writing is that the story is there to serve the players something they can immerse themselves in and certainly burning down Teldrassil got folks fired up, i think it served its purpose. The problem is that the writing then just forgets completely what happened and you wind up with things like the Horde playerbase being in Amirdrassil, it doesn’t serve the playerbase at all and it BREAKS immersion in the game COMPLETELY. As i said above, you would NEVER see Israel inviting the bad guys from WW2 because some “champion” helped Jerusalem become a city and that is the level of game breaking story we are getting.

We aren’t talking about the playerbase taking some sort of moralist stand and saying no i’m not going to play the quests, we are saying the quests need to lead in a good story direction. War is an integral part of the game but it needs to be wrapped in good writing and not break the immersion of the story with ridiculous outcomes. Has nothing to do with the individual player.

oh, well if it makes ya feel better as a horde player i don’t really have any interest in the new capital. I may or may not swing there to get to see what it looks like but defiantly wouldn’t hang out there. And tbh capital sieges as a pvp instance bg > completely destroying a city D:

I think its all for the trying to get cross faction to happen, so everyone can hang out with anyone anywhere. Which craps on the lore / immersion but thats wow now

Funny thing about lore, it can and does get retconned.

man i dont think you can or should retcon teldrassil. Thats some high incompetency and destruction of the story.

Whose to say we are even in the 'One True TimeLine, maybe after shadowlands we came back to a different Azeroth :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Just saying lotta weird things have happened since leaving the shadowlands.

shhh don’t give the story team anymore idea’s D:

And I was there, in person, at Blizzcon 2017 when people were losing their minds with hype over a Faction War expansion. Sylvanas yelling “For the Horde!” made the entire place explode with cheers.
I also know that the BfA cinematic is the second most popular video on the official World of Warcraft YouTube channel beating out almost every other cinematic despite them having far longer to accumulate views. Showing that there was incredible hype for this expansion.
Also, it only has 2% dislikes according to Jabrek. This is funny when compared to the TWW cinematic trailer which has 10% dislikes despite featuring the cross faction cooperation that you insist people want.

Of course, they didn’t! Because that was stupid and contrary to the tone of the promotional material. It wasn’t because people didn’t want a faction war it was because they didn’t want THIS KIND of faction war.

You DO know what a “truce” is right? People don’t forget their grievances just because something else was holding their immediate attention. The Legion posed a greater threat to both the Alliance and Horde than they posed to each other so they turned their focus towards that.

No it collapsed with Wrath of the Lich King at the Battle for Undercity when Varian declared war proving that “peace between the Alliance and Horde” was a failed experiment and every attempt at it since has fallen through almost immediately because of that, until this forced peace after BfA where everyone just pretends like all the geopolitical conflicts just aren’t there anymore.

TL;DR knock it off with your gaslighting you bad faith arguing jerk.

But it is the PERFECT excuse to go with, "Oh sorry, but you guys NEVER escaped the maw, everything since then has been a fever dream.

and just like that a million subscriptions were silenced.

Good thing they still have a few million more XD

ah, the man finally shows his true colors. Pretty petty, especially when I also provided some links to an actual discussion. Just let me remove the posts I prepared. I have no interest in fostering your immature behavior any further. That’s on you now.

Oof, so when he loses an argument, the other person is a jerk >.>

It doesn’t make me feel better or worse, it’s just horrific writing. I mean in this case (and i know it won’t happen) but i would say that Teldrassil survivors who would have gone to SW to be a refugee would probably kill the “champion” and any other Horde. That’s just the level of stupidity that Blizzard is putting in your face. They have the survivors of Genocide next to the people who perpetrated the genocide themselves, it’s just utterly ridiculous and as far as i am concerned removes any immersion in the game.

From a gameplay perspective i get why Blizzard is doing it, but as with so many things since BfA the story is not served well and it’s just extremely poor writing. This just happens to be a microcosm of all that has gone on that is bad with the writing team since BfA, i mean Baine sat in Oribos for 2 years picking his nose sitting on his rump while the world was supposedly in danger, there is just no way to overcome some of the horrific story decisions being made in the game.

Yes i agree and i think the game will die if this happens. It’s not world of sing kumbaya by the campfire together and embrace your families murderers because of family and togetherness. I have liked DF more certainly that SL and BfA but there are major MAJOR story telling issues with DF as well.

Yes. And I also agreed with some parts of his post before he edited this part into the post.
Immature all the way through.

Fine by me. I wasn’t looking forward to arguing with someone shamelessly trying to rewrite history anyways.

EDIT: Also I just want to point out you didn’t address any of my points and just latched onto the tail end when I accuse you of being what you are.

It’s a game, Get over it already, it’s not like ANY of it really happened.

There is always going to be varying opinions and strong ones where people are investing their time and money into something they enjoy. I’m all for some different flavors of stuff although i don’t think merging the factions is a good idea at all. However what I PERSONALLY really want is good writing where there is not game breaking immersion issues and story points that just fall by the wayside because of plot armor or because of easy/lazy writing.

The gameplay is still great, the art team still knocks it out of the box expansion after expansion, the writing team needs to up their game no matter what direction they take.

So what is your opinion on opening up Allied Races to both factions then?

That’s perfectly understandable but the majority of players do invest into the development of upcoming expansions and they have been also very passionate about ending the faction war, because the writing cannot sustain the gameplay in any given form.

And it would also be for the best to make the factions just a design choice, where everyone can visit most or all cities without being restricted to anything. In fact, I always wished that the Pandaren would have been WoW’s first true neutral race, where you can visit each city and having shorter questlines, because you’re not participating in the war efforts.
