A New Hardcore Community

Classic Server: Atiesh
Discord: discord. gg/TCXrWJ3CBj

Howdy. I’d like to invite anyone, who’s a decent person, who would like to play Hardcore with only one rule: Don’t Die.

The current Hardcore community (classichc. net) has a lot more rules than I like. So, I’m starting one without them. Please, be kind to the other communities. This is not a bash on how they wish to play the game. I encourage people to play how they want. Also, check them out. You may be interested in them.

discord. gg/TCXrWJ3CBj if you would like to join the Discord.

The rules are as follows:
-Be Kind
-Be courteous
-If you die, the run is over
-If you want to verify your run, simply post a video in the proper channel for the community to look at.
-If you attempt to cheat your run, and submit it for verification, you’re banned permanently.

The verification part is only required if you want your run posted in the verified runs channel. The main focus of this community is just fun. Feel free to group with anyone you wish, use the AH, or whatever you want to do to not die. Being social is a great way to help enjoy the game!

Currently I have a guild charter that needs signs, on Alliance side. If you would like to help sign, contact me in-game or on Discord. You’re not required to join the guild. And, if you create one post about it in the guild recruitment channel, to let others know about it!

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them here. But, be civil please.

Can I start a hardcore character that has no rules that I can keep playing even if I die?

Yes. You’re free to play it as soft-core if you happen to die.

Rats, it’s not connected to my server cluster. I have three classes I transferred to Mankrik (free) with the SoI buff. Gonna do the simple “don’t die” on them.
GL with your run. :smiley_cat:

Atiesh was chosen, because it’s the lowest populated server/connected realm. Feel free to join the Discord and post your clips if you want. The server itself isn’t required. It was mostly so people would have a server to make their characters on. It’s like when something bad happens, and no one calls 911 because people freeze and think someone else is doing it. You need to point to someone (or do it yourself) and tell them to call 911.

Might give this a go. Tried the bloodsail server and tried to trade water for food and no one would. Kind of ridiculous some of the hardcore rules

Props for going against the norm of the road to rag ruleset. Good luck, and long live REAL hardcore!

I will probably be joining you soon! This is how I play hardcore myself even on bloodsail but i just dont join the guilds.

After I finish initial push on new Diablo 3 season I will roll something there.

You started your own community and are emphasizing respect as well as fun.
I wish you all great enjoyment and success.
Walking the walk. This is awesome.

I may just roll a HC character for this. I don’t mind the rules that the ‘official’ HC challenge/plugin has, but this feels like it would be a more casual sort of HC challenge that I could do when I want to vibe more.

I honestly enjoy the ‘don’t die’ rule for things like HC or the LotR challenge, as it makes me think more about what I’m doing in the game, and take my time as I go. It’s been a wonderful way to explore the old world before Cataclysm.

Now if only we could get a good RP community going in Classic, I’d be set! :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

I set up a Roleplaying category, on the Discord. You can hc-rp or just normal rp. If you have any suggestions for channels, let me know. I have this setup:

:sparkles:Roleplaying :sparkles:
-general
-us-alliance
-us-horde
-eu-alliance
-eu-horde
-resources

Oh, bless you for that! I feel like classic-era RP is just sort of quiet and small in general, but any little bit helps.

Some other suggestions, based on some channels in the Grand Alliance discord for retail:

  • Looking for Roleplay
  • Journals and Stories
  • Looking for Guild

Think I’ll hop in the discord, though I usually just lurk most of the time.

I still don’t understand the point of “hardcore”. What is so fun about playing mega-safe and defensive and never doing dungeons and only killing things 5+ levels below you and not interacting with other players and then losing 200+ hours of progress to a random lag spike or disconnect?

Weirdos wanting to play an MMORPG single player.

Actually I play normally. Mostly yellow quests, unless the line I’m on goes green I’ll still finish. I typically die in a dungeon with pugs. Last one was death by Gnomer. Level 33 :scream_cat: feign was resisted :pouting_cat:
Live life as close to the edge as possible! :+1:t4:

This is a misconception. Lots of players do risky plays, and do dungeons. The other hc community only allows 1 of each type of dungeon to be run once. So, that may be where the “no dungeons” mindset may have come from. The rules I have set forth are designed for social activities. Such as being able to group with softcore players, and unlimited dungeons, and no level requirements to the dungeons.

Honestly, I did always like the idea behind doing dungeons as HC.

While I understand the need for it in retail, since a lot of old dungeons are fairly easy and scaling is all out of wack, and most people just want the experience or carrot at the end… I don’t really enjoy the speed mentality that pervades retail dungeons. Which is funny, coming from a different MMO where speedrunning was the only real way to do them (as they were just long, single-direction hallways). But something about speedrunning in WoW’s dungeons has always bothered me, and it’s why I don’t do them super often.

HC mode, I would hope, would make people slow down a little bit and play together as a cohesive unit. Death = delete, even in dungeons, so trying to work together and treating it as an actual dungeon delve sounds fun to me. Dunno if it’s actually like that, but well, that’s the hope!

I am interested in this HC guild. Although I think Wrath is a much better place to do it.

If you still need guild signers, I will make a mage on Atiesh. I did join the discord, but it seems awfully quiet.

What I am looking for is some friends to play with and to enjoy the process.

Yeah. It’s going to be very quiet till there’s a decent amount of people who join. A lot of people will simply go to the original HC community, as it’s easier to get started and get groups faster right now. Still could use guild signs, but no rush on it. This community is something that I’m expecting to build slowly, and over time other people will make guilds as well

what part of ‘no trading’ do you not understand :expressionless:

I am in your discord, but only one person there to talk to. I can sign your charter for you, when you are on.
