A Formal Request Thread for Fresh/New TBC Servers

I want to play wow classic from vanilla through lich king on resetting servers until I die. Fresh servers every 18 months. Not New servers. All data reset to the first version of that expansion including characters(which could be transferred if you like as long as you do not go over character limits) Maybe buy more character slots?

Aha, the comments! The way it was written I took it for the verb of him commenting. I watched the video through here, so unfortunately there is no comment section.

I have no doubt people are fussing about their progress, and they can keep it on their continued progress servers.

So I decided to make a character on an existing classic server. I didn’t play classic, but I do want to play TBC. Hopefully some fresh servers are added at prepatch and I would 100% play on those if they are added, but I thought I would test the waters just in case they aren’t implemented.

Holy cow I thought you guys were exaggerating. Trade chat is nothing but WTB boost, WTS boost, and GDKP advertisements. I joined a guild and one of the folks in that guild was humble bragging about spending 3k gold on a piece of leveling gear for an alt. Nobody that has that much gold in classic that earned it honestly would toss it away on a piece of leveling gear for an alt.

This is the cesspool the pro fresh people want no part of. The only way I could ever compete would be to make use of the same tactics they did and I never have and never will.

Please give us fresh servers with no transfers and no boost so we can play the game the way it was meant to be played. Leave the existing servers as they are so those people can maintain their investments. Everybody wins.

I totally support this!

At least that is on your Trade chat. I get to see all of that in the LFG chat on my server. I actually had to install an add-on to allow me to ignore more people than the 50 the game client allows just to try to keep the channel slightly filtered.

It has gotten to the point that you cannot even shame people for buying and selling gold on Classic servers. They will actually BRAG about how their credit card is their best friend and how GDKP raids are the best way to spend their bought gold. Blizzard has become so complacent with bought and sold gold on the Classic servers that people feel they no longer even need to hide the fact they are doing it and instead are quite brazen about how easy it is to do.

I am not saying fresh servers would get rid of these people. Only Blizzard could do that and they have shown they don’t really seem to care just how much loot you acquire in the game, or how you do it. However, on a fresh server there wouldn’t be any high gold GDKP raids for these people to launder their bought gold with, so I believe it would deter them from rolling on them until at least the majority of people had made it to Outland. Not a solution to be sure, but a better world to at least start leveling in than the Classic servers we have now.

Thanks.

Along with their tens of thousands of GDKP gold.

There is a whole other thread about GDKP having ruined WOW Classic. Unless you have tens of thousands of gold, don’t even count on competing in TBC. The GDKP moguls will have a massive advantage out of the gate, and as for GDLP… Doing the same thing and expecting a different result is nuts. You make some great points, but the conditions of Classic are only going to carry over. “Classic” TBC with GDKP and character boosts… We shall see.

They laugh and brag as they get away with murder. I love trolls saying GDKP was “alive” in the original TBC and Wrath. Well, maybe they did, but I am in my thirties, played those games and have a good memory. GDKP cheat mode is a big joke for my guild members. I have one toon dedicated to my guild. I would love to see the ratio of GDKP to any other raid right now. Cancer and disease going into TBC. I was looking forward to a TBC before Classic. I’d wager it is going to be worse than Classic. Yet addicted players, and I am one of the biggest perpetrators, will continue playing against the $. WoW is pay to play in a way it never was right now. No one cares about RMT, GDKP… If you have $ or a crazy amount of gold, you will get the very best WOW has to offer…without any kind of punishment.

On a funny and similar note…

Final Fantasy XIV just banned (terminated, not just suspended as Blizzard does) over 5,000 accounts for violating the rules surrounding “real money trading and other illicit activities” that undermine the in-game economy, and throw the balance out of whack.

A further 814 were terminated for trying to take part in the above, advertising or otherwise attempting to create a deal that involved real currency, rather than the gil that’s used through-out the Final Fantasy series.

Imagine if Blizzard attempted this kind of effort rather than the laissez faire attitude they have adopted towards their servers. Makes you think maybe there are better administered MMORPGs out there?

Here’s hoping for some fresh servers with some actual oversight.

Thanks.

They won’t have an abundance amount of gold at the start, no. That’s the thing, though, AT THE START. Only a matter of time before it crumbles down, into what you hate.

Correct.

Personally, I don’t find that enough of a reason to create more servers just to appease those for the first 4 weeks before things begin to get “bad”, again. You can run, but you can’t hide.

You’re welcome :slightly_smiling_face:

I think RMT is absolutely out of control, but I will say that I remember GDKP runs happening even during TBC. They got a lot more popular in Wrath and were more or less an expectation/normal in Cataclysm. I stopped really noticing them in MoP, but I chalk that up to the advent of LFR. People who would have done GDKP for gear were probably satisfied with LFR.

Anyway. Today’s GDKP is a lot different with crazy gold inflation, but Wrath GDKP is what prompted me to level multiple raiding alts and go nuts doing several Ulduar/ToGC/ICC clears every week.

Me recalling this now:

If they made a gold cap “fresh” server, as in you could transfer your characters to it but they could only hold 500g or something like that, I’d be into that.

GDKP didn’t start on my server until late Wrath.

Unfortunately people have already planned around that by instead buying a bunch of Trade Goods or BoEs to take with them

As for GDKP, I never even HEARD of it until Classic. And I played Vanilla -> Legion.

i am not ignoring you. i like a good debate, provided it doesnt degrade into insults and name calling.

but it wont take 2 years for people to reach outlands level and they will go into it with a more reasonable amount of gold

Appreciate that :slightly_smiling_face:

In that context of that quote, however it was (mostly) pertaining to the individual I had quoted and the likes of them.

Agreed.

I’ve been called a “Troll”. My intellect has been attacked. I cannot repeat those words because it’s against the rules. I may fall into bringing up the word “hypocrite” because a lot of hypocritical thinking keeps occurring, and it just baffles me.

:woman_shrugging:

Personally on my server, GDKP groups weren’t spamming for people in trade chat. They typically consisted of alts of hardcore raid groups who kept things low key. I heard about this kind of stuff through the grapevine - like you did back then. Same way the good pvp premades weren’t advertising in trade, and the good pug groups recruited from their own small networks before resorting to public channels.

By late Wrath, though, yes. Far more prolific.

it took more than 4 weeks. its been 2 years. if you think overabundance can be reached in 4 weeks, imagine what 2 years has done. the difference will be stark. 2 years of gold hoarding/creation vs. everyone rushing to the dark portal, barely a moment to stop and vendor, much less play the auction house. big difference. only thing that’d be the same is people selling boosts.

It is very subjective, I’m talking about ALL of the “bad”. The Gold, the Boosts, the Bots, etc. It didn’t take Classic 2 years to get there. It’s a 4 Week “rush” before the Community splits off into what’s “fun” for them and then the complaints start pouring in about how others are “not playing the game right”. 4 Weeks of “fun”, until players start having maxed leveled characters, splitting off into “what to do after that”, before the complaints come rolling in. That “fun” doesn’t last long, and I find that to be “not enough of a reason” to create “new” servers, just to repeat the same process. It’s a waste of time.
