A Formal Request Thread for Fresh/New TBC Servers

They did? My server is literally one created days after launch. I xferred from whitemane to it to escape high pop issues

It seems rare, but it would probably make more sense for them to open them again from high pop to low pop. Transferring to a ‘new’ server seems to only aggravate the current problems of the low/imbalanced pop ones in Classic.

But, they probably have the raw data and have been studying it. They’ll know what to do with those, but new servers usually always have a restriction period for transfers.

Im sure theyll try that at first, but if the infux of new players is large enough youll see new servers. Not that theyll be fresh. Just new

Definitely. The Burning Crusade is a very desired expansion. Hopefully we get both and the populated progression servers don’t get choked with layering.

Fresh When?

Just wanted to add my support for a fresh TBC server. I have 4 60s (2 ally, 2 horde) and would definitely reroll to play on fresh.

Based on the responses I’ve seen from Blizz this is how I believe they are thinking right now:

  • They are considering and are open to releasing fresh realms that have TBC pre-patch prior to launch, or releasing them after TBC launch as TBC fresh servers.
  • They know there is demand for Fresh and see it everywhere, it’s impossible that they don’t know this.
  • They want the TBC launch to go well for all current players on their progressive realms, for some reason they think fresh realms could take away from that. Possibly such as people unsubbing until fresh realm is open, and servers losing lots of population if a lot of people end up preferring fresh. This reason is so weird to me because if a lot of people prefer fresh, so much so that they’re worried about it affecting launch - Don’t you think that’s a rather large majority that should get a fresh server to play on?
  • They will NOT release any fresh Classic only era realms and are not considering it at this time, maybe in the much further future but not even on the radar.

What’s most likely to happen:
No fresh realms released on or prior to TBC Classic launch. If many servers are filling up and queues are happening, not long after launch (same day, next day) they may release new servers. These might be fresh start only, or allow transfers to alleviate the server queues.
A month or few months after launch, they might release fresh start realms. This is most likely to happen, as it was basically stated directly by the devs.

What is least likely to happen:
They announce plans to release fresh start realms with TBC prepatch prior to TBC Classic launch. This would only happen if by some miracle Blizz changes their mind and decides to give in to what the community is asking for, and asking for loudly. If we continue to ask for it this might happen, its just a low probability.

So far the Q&A response makes it sound like she is answering to Classic Vanilla servers. It feels less leaning towards Fresh TBC. That is what I am being hopeful for.

We have some time, we must continue to let our voices be heard.

Fresh will attract 2 types of new subs. People who didn’t want Classic but wanted TBC, and people who play TBC pservers who might want to try official. Add to the people who play classic or retail that want a fresh TBC server and you’ll have a healthy population.

Honestly, I’m personally running out of reasons to stay subbed, as are some of my friends. I raid 2 nights a week on retail and literally spend everyday playing FFXIV. I’d keep my sub for Fresh TBC as I have no desire to jump into the mess that currently exists. When TBC originally launched, I think I had about 6k banked and that was a ridiculous amount compared to most players. What you have now is stockpiles of currency, mats, items, and tons gained through exploitation. Why would any new player want to get into that?

I also feel that it wouldn’t make sense to not include Fresh TBC at prepatch.

People want to play Draenei! People want to play Blood Elves! Introducing new servers during the grace period between PrePatch and Release, I do not feel it would effect anything negatively.

Next question is, how much of a time gap are they giving between PrePatch and Release? Did they say one month?

What is this calling gold “dirty” simply because you don’t play the class that can make it that way?

100% this. Ten characters.

Fresh TBC servers with no transfers and no boosts please.

This is probably something that is going to need to be aruged from the beta players as well.

??

Anyone can buy gold. There’s no class restriction on that.

I will add you to the other assumptions pile. Thank you for the bump and have a pleasant day.

I saw a further video interview with the Classic WoW devs directly, and they were asked about plans for fresh Classic realms.
The dev answered basically both Classic and TBC fresh even though the question wasn’t about TBC fresh.

He said: hard no to fresh Classic era realms, TBC is their focus right now.
He also said, they want to ensure a smooth TBC launch for the existing servers, and once that calms down and everyone is having fun that would be the time they’d release fresh start realms. This made it sound like a month after launch or something like that. He specifically said fresh start realms in that scenario.

Real money gold buying/selling, from bots, in the thousands.
Do you really think people would trade 30,000 gold for a dungeon/raid item like its nothing? No, they wouldn’t, unless it was easily acquired and easily re-acquired gold.
These same bots impact gold in GDKP runs, people talk about how the ‘gold pot’ goes up to 1,000g per player or more. This means someone spent 30,000-40,000 gold to claim an item drop for themselves. That’s not naturally earned gold.
No one spends that much gold for a single item if they spent hours and hours farming it. Some people might, but its certainly not common place.
Hence the term “dirty gold” - it was acquired from buying from gold sellers.

Perhaps you didn’t know this was going on, but it is. Some servers may be much less affected by it.

I am hoping they get to a point where they feel comfortable releasing fresh servers.

I would love to level the new race when PrePatch hits as I’ve lost desire to waste anymore time into Classic Servers.

Yeah same, I want to level a Blood Elf and journey through everything with the whole server, everyone going at their own pace no feeling of rushing or boosting etc.

As I mentioned before, its unlikely they will decide to release fresh start TBC servers before TBC launch.
They will likely release fresh start servers after TBC launch, just don’t know how long after. Maybe a month. This was stated by the dev and I believe it’s their current plan.

So I feel like we will likely get a fresh start server eventually, so that’s the good news.
It sucks to have to wait longer for it, but I don’t mind if it means we get fresh start at some point. So I’m optimistic.

Their plan could change and they release the fresh start servers before TBC launch, but I do think that’s super unlikely so don’t hold your breath.
