A Critical Look at Dawntrail's Shortcomings - WORSE than Shadowlands

Me too.

Nah it’s just the simple “lol WoW sucks” type threads that are designed to just attract the usual “I hate WoW” crowd and the FFXIV advertising bots.

This isn’t a fair take and feels like a thinly veiled emotional response.

My thoughts - which shouldn’t be reduced to a ‘remark’ - are valid critiques of the quality of the expansion in relation to arguably the lowest impact expansion in WoW’s history.

Dawntrail is record breaking as the worst mega budget MMO from a respected studio (CBU3) since 9.1 Shadowlands.

That isn’t a rant, but a fact. It is documented and readily traceable that costs have been consistently cut complimented by workforce reductions in favor of pursuing other company projects that has diluted the quality of FFXIV (not that their was much to begin with depending on what form of content you participate in).

The sad reality is that a bad standard has been set in the industry and the launch of Dawntrail has been a catastrophic failure that eclipses the disaster that was Shadowlands.

The catgirl respecters have come to the defense!

Literally all of the threads, barring one that was used as feedback for what features WoW should implement, have all been ones moaning about FFXIV rather than the opposite. Maybe you just suffer from really short-term memory and you ended up forgetting about it.

If you’re going to offer a comparative analysis, you would typically outline key points of the expansion you’re comparing it to. You didn’t do that, so any critique is moot. You’re just whining about the expansion on an unrelated forum.

I guess if Paris says it, then it must be true.

Would really love to see the sources for these.

Nah that isn’t what literally means.

Mkay, sweetheart.

I’m actually seeing opposite play out here… though there is definitely one big convenience here in that the Dawnservant more or less is an expy of the WoL… if a more benevolent variation in particular. As noted before, he’s still an adventurer at heart. So the Scions are not so much trying to persuade other nations to their world views as they are already in agreement with Dawnservant from the outset.

Also, the help of the WoL was specifically sought out because of their reputation… and some of the other Scions were recommended for similiar reasons.

And besides, one common thing I’ve seen repeated throughout DT is the WoL & Scions stepping back and letting the claimants make the decisions and do specific tasks. We’re doing not a whole lot of “influencing” for once, just being moral support and muscle when needed.

If anything, the biggest complaint should be that the player has been pushed into the role of a supporting character. I’m okay with that for the time being, but once they finish their world-building, the player should start taking centre-stage again.

I mean, between the Void in post-EW and now Alexandria, they’re clearly setting up the big multi-expansion story to be about dealing with how to resolve the issue of the remaining shards.

Tabula Rasa would be my pick as worst. That’s a fun read… especially the lawsuit.

The symbol of Azem shows up on the top of the key to the Golden City. Interesting stuff considering the WoL is the reincarnation of Azem and has her crystal.

There is a (disastrous) blast from the past lol.

Yall weebs need to go back to FF whatever

Yeah… man what a disaster that game was. It’s literally a case study on how to not make a game.

Or I’ll just play both.

In regards to FF16 and it’s impact on FFXIV:

FFXIV did experience some impact due to the development of Final Fantasy 16. Key members of the FFXIV development team, including Yoshi P and Soken, were heavily involved in the creation of FFXVI. That very overlap in personnel diverted some resources and focus away from FFXIV.

Yoshi P, took on significant responsibilities for FFXVI, which means his attention was split between both projects. This dual role led to fewer innovative updates and slower development cycles for FFXIV, as resources and key staff were shared between the two games.

Additionally, discussions within the FFXIV community highlight that the quality and quantity of content updates during this period seemed to dip, with fewer ambitious storylines and less inventive encounter designs being cited as potential consequences of the resource diversion to FFXVI.

FFXVI’s development posed massive challenges for maintaining the high (low) standards and regular content updates.

Dude this is a wendy’s restaurant.

I liked the trailer. What got me into it and left with in a weeks time lol. Though, trying to scratch my brain to remember back than, IIRC it failed harder than Matrix Online. Which at least was entertaining but released at the wrong time.

Coolios. Also for links just use ’ ’ at the start and end.
