It really depends on what you want out of the game. FF14 endgame is legit better for casual players that aren’t interested in putting a ton of effort into the game.
WoW is better for driven players, but it will feel unfriendly towards casual players that aren’t interested in improving enough to get past the many hurdles.
Oh okay so it’s perfectly cool for you guys to shill for Square Enix here but the moment anyone says anything positive about Blizzard or WoW, it’s suddenly a bad thing?
If you hate Blizzard so much why are you still here?
Thank you lol. I think I probably come off as snarky with my writing style but definitely not intended and despite the content of the post, I am a big proponent of “play what you want to play”. I said it going back into classic when it launched to a bunch of my buddies, even though we all knew it’d be meta’d out hard from all of the pserver pop & years and years of info & experience playing the game.
In the old game, before everyone had everything figured out which is key to the point, it was far more feasible to be non-meta because there was so much you could do to overperform even as non-meta or show a worth in picking the wrong talents, etc… In the modern game, sadly everything has been precisely calculated and hardlocked in where this just isn’t the case, mathematically really.
Couple that together with the fact that single-server only communities are a mythical relic and now a typical player is exposed to a larger pool of performance minded players who are less forgiving about wrong choices because the game (in pve only) has been so well balanced that there’s in many cases only one right choice for specs, gearing, talents, and so on.
Curious though why the FF lovers’ are here posting on the WOW forums when the FF forums could use the traffic, kinda took a WOW player/streamer to get some traffic on the FF forums going though, seems to be trolling.
For everyone else. This thread is not necessarily about how awesome FF14 is.
It is just that Square Enix and the FF14 team had not foreseen the insane influx it would have gotten, and both are extremely ancient in their digital stuff so they were not equipped nor prepared.
They were not prepared.
That said… FF14 is, objectively, still the superior game.
It’s got a couple of good things going for it. From purely a gamer perspective, there’s no objectivity stating it’s better than wow.
If we want to be real about it, both wow and 14 are dog as a complete package. Wow is just only barely better and it’s only saving grace is that 14’s pvp is top tier meme.
I always said that FF kinda had ugly graphics, I eventually started to see the beauty in much of it. I still do prefer WoW’s more cartooney style, over FFXIV’s semi-realistic style, WoW’s current cartooney style just looks better and will look better… forever, I would say.
And no FFXIV player can deny that WoW’s combat is just far more responsive. No MMORPG except Wildstar have come close to WoW’s responsiveness in combat. You click a button and something happens immediately, it is a much better feeling indeed.
Sadly, for me. WoW has too many problems for me to keep going with it, and too wrong a focus in their design. FFXIV just ticks more ‘good’ boxes for me, than WoW does currently.
It can still change, Blizzard… it can stille change.
Likely the same person that thought Warmode was a good idea killing off WPvP and server identity. It’s actually incredible that these ideas get to the final phases of development and go live.
Atleast they understand when their servers have reached maximum capacity and instead of making it impossible for everyone to play, they just ask new players to wait until they can update the servers.
