Like yeah, hats off to the artists for the cool aesthetic… but it just seems so immensely skippable unless you’re a raider. Like with the original Shadowlands reveal, I just watched that video and couldn’t shake the thought of “what is being added to the game this time that won’t be immediately obsolete when the next content patch drops?” What did I really gain from 9.1 that will still matter in 10.0? A few mounts, some transmog sets… both of which will be infinitely easier to just grind in a year or two when I can zip around one-shotting everything.
Better luck next expansion, I guess. They better come up with something flashy and permanent if they want me to consider reinstalling. I can understand why they are so hesitant to add another class to the balancing nightmare at this point, but when it comes to races, they have no excuse. Allied Races were designed as a feature to give more variety, and the fact that we’ve gone nearly two years without one since Mechagnomes/Vulpera were released is not encouraging.
Damn that video was sad. Does Danuser actually believe he turned the disconnected pastiche of WoW into a coherent story – that 9.2 wraps up some saga from WCIII?? They can’t possibly believe that, right?
Quick, get some women and a rainbow shirt! Look everyone, we’re all great here now and this story was planned 20 years ago, honest!
Because originally they actually had far more importance in the cosmology and it wasn’t until recently that they have decided they want to one up all the old lore with something bigger and badder. It started with the Void Lord lore when they downplayed the Old Gods as more of just nuisances. Gradually has spun from there.
Y’know the sad part is a lot of us are like, I miss BFA at least it didn’t literally undo and invalidate huge swaths of lore, history, (some) characters and more. It’s gonna be funny and sad a few years from now when the few of us left being like, I miss Shadowlands if the story continues in its current nose dive trajectory.
