no.
this exp needs to end
also because i feel that the more something is explored, the less…mystical? Magical? it becomes…
Like Elune, would’ve been a lot better if she didnt have lines

We get infinite afterlives but exist only to further invalidate and spit on Shaman lore for no other reason than that lmao
So long as the current people responsible for the story and Shadowlands lore are calling shots I have nothing but dread for how this will go. My prediction is:
Trailer tomorrow, it’s Bolvar asking Sylvanas what the Jailer is going to do. She says something generic and uninformative along the lines of “You have no idea but it’ll be bad” while we watch clips of various new models of Jailer minions wandering the new zone looking menacing. Reinforces my belief that the writers genuinely have no idea what his plan is and just mask that with vagueness.
We’re going to the Sepulcher where the Jailer is trying to do something and we have to stop him so we do timegated quests collecting McGuffins in Zereth Mortis until the raid opens and then blow through the raid without any meaningful hiccups and imprison the Jailer (villains don’t die anymore, they get thrown in the recycle bin for later) using our McGuffins.
Arthas will show up as either an unlikely ally that makes no sense in Zereth Mortis, or he’ll be a raid boss in the raid with generic voice lines like how they did my boi Ner’zhul.
First Ones are literally Titans +. And not in an exciting way. They’re a exact copy of WotLK’s titans; missing technologically sophisticated gods that supposedly made everything and turn out to SURPRISE be dead all along. Literally no new story at all, they just happen to be bigger and taking place in a zone that we never knew about nor cared about until just now. It’s also going to set up a cosmic war where for some reason all the forces that comprise the universe want to paint it their color?
New cosmic force, btw. Fractal force or something. This cosmic force does not actually have any merit on how the universe works and is just a new colored faction that’s relevant because reasons.
Sylvanas is condescending and smug in all interactions with her even though this is all her fault. But you see we lacked VISION. Also side note, anyone notice how she talks like she’s taken a course of poetry in college and thinks every word that leaves her mouth has to have some deep double meaning? Doesn’t sound anything like the Sylvanas of WC3, WotLK, or even the one in Siege of Orgrimmar. But yeah, that’s what we get to listen to.
Oh, and we never hear from Tyrande the whole patch. The Elune cinematic we got was “closure”.
Sorry for the negativity. Hope I’m wrong. I really do. I really want a good story. Just don’t feel like the writers have the ability, be it due to corporate tampering or ineptitude, to pull off anything that’ll pleasantly surprise me.
Please. Those sigils are obviously elevator buttons
You playing at all, OP? A-side?
I’m interested to see what they do. I don’t think SL can be saved story-wise either but maybe 10.0 can be good and then they retcon SL in 2 years and no one cares.
I dipped a pinky toe back in after this patch to see if it was worth it. It’s not really but I’m doing things very casually. A-side Stormwind is so desolate now it’s sad.
Also, this is Chonga I just post on my DH now for some reason.
Ya I know, was just wondering if you also swapped to playing that as well.
I’m more curious about 9.2 than I thought I’d be. For some reason, playing a Samurai in FF made miss the feel of Pally in WoW.
You’re not being negative. You’re being realistic. We all want a good story. We’ve been spoon-fed garbage for the past several years, so it’s understandable that we’re expecting the next spoon to be filled with more garbage.
I will always want a good story, but I’ve long accepted that I probably won’t get one.
So now, I just want some cool hats.
but what do these runes have to do with the elimination of faction barriers
12 classes, 3 specs is the popular one.
join a covenant based on your class?
Order halls??
You have to collect all the runes in a series of long and arduous questlines in order to unlock the elimination of the faction barrier. Though if you collect at least three you can translate zug zug into common!
They’re dissolving the factions into 15 separate factions.
hopin ffor a jailer fffcyiomn
I get really tired of hearing the, “Don’t judge the story, you don’t know how it ends!” argument. I mean… Damn. How many times have you ever said, or heard anyone say, “You know, the first half of the movie was absolute garbage, but the second half was amazing!” You may have heard, “The first season/few episodes was/were rough, but the others were better!” Or, “It started off great, but then got really weird at the end.” But, the converse is much more rare.
We’re in patch 9.1 of probably 9.2, so we’re already halfway through with Shadowland’s story. Just in “percent of runtime”, it’s already more bad than it could be good. And that’s counting the start of Shadowland’s story as 9.0, wherein one could argue it actually started in 8.0. So again, in percent of runtime, we’re well past the halfway mark, and the story has only declined in quality.
Honestly, I don’t have a lot of hope for this story to be salvage. Like…
Earnest question, what could they do to turn this story around? How could they conclude the Jailer’s story, Sylvanas’s arc, Anduin’s arc, and the Teldrassil/Kaldorei and Undercity/Forsaken plots in a satisfying way?
Personally, I’d like to see Tyrande heavily involved, Sylvanas removes herself for a long time in self-imposed atonement, the Jailer entirely fails and we never hear from him again, Anduin is kinda fine but edgier. We go back to Azeroth to focus on rebuilding. The faction leaders recede into the background again.
I don’t know if that’d make this a good story, but, for me personally, it’d go a long way towards making it palatable. On the whole, I think the Jailer story and everything related to it has been too poorly received for too long to be salvaged, but… There’s still room to make it not as bad.
“Hey! That was a real nasty fall you took! Thank goodness our Priest could heal you. Huh? Shadowlands? Azerite? What are you talking about? Come on, let’s take care of these Gnolls!”
id also accept being dead in frostmourne since wotlk
It was all a last moment delusion before we were raised as undead. The Lich King won. Now we have to start from level 1 as ghouls of ourselves and destroy the kingdoms we protected.
The best possible news
Replace “First Ones” with “Titans” and “Zebra Morty” with “Ulduar”.
The story of Shadowlands has basically fallen into one of two categories: “Hey, that thing you think you know, but now you don’t actually” or “exactly like that thing you like, just more bigly!”
I’m whelmed. This is exactly what I expected from this team: more of the stuff I didn’t care about anyways. Just another patch in Danusercraft.
EDIT: Also lol @ “we were trying to make this place as alien as possible, so we made everything float!” I mean, it does look nice. The zones always look nice, imo. But, it’s just… funny the way they correlate “alien” = “floating”.
