Hey now. You’re making things too easy. If you do something that simple, they will only see more players in BG’s enjoying themselves and less purchasing of tokens.
Stop making sense !

Random BGs have always been pretty lawless… that’s why you can use items, consumables, etc. in them. They have never really balanced – it’s more of a fun mode.
Are you sure? A lot of their fans like to use those names so it might not have been the real Trill and Chanimal. They certainly wouldn’t be in the 1500 bracket – they are very high rated players.
You won’t see these players in rated content unless you’re around their rating though. That’s how the brackets work.
259 gear is going to require 2400 rating. Due to the matchmaking system, you will not see 2400 rated people with 259 gear in the 1500s bracket.
Therefore, this match-up of 229 characters vs. 259 characters will not happen in rated content. At least, not enough to warrant extreme changes to the game that damage PVP’s progression systems.
If they need rival and duelist gear while giving glads an even bigger advantage for their little carries than they already have I’m done.
This is what I would do:
Rank | PVE ilvl | PVP ilvl | |
---|---|---|---|
0 | Unranked | W | 250 |
1000 | Rank 2 Combatant I | H | 259 |
1200 | Rank 3 Combatant II | O | 259 |
1400 | Rank 4 Challenger I | 259 | |
1600 | Rank 5 Challenger II | C | 259 |
1700 | Rank 6 Challenger III | A | 259 |
1800 | Rank 8 Rival I | R | 259 |
1950 | Rank 9 Rival II | E | 259 |
2100 | Rank 10 Duelist | S | 259 |
2400 | Rank 11 Elite | ! | 259 |
Nothing creates more frustration then unequal playing field.
Not really justification, but lets touch on it. Every other season that PvP gear was BiS, there was no rating gating so even the casual bg player could eventually compete, but now, they can be full honor gear, and just get destroyed due to the geared player having THIRTY ilvl’s over said casual player. You are justifying making the game miserable for them cause "they been pretty lawless? Not acceptable sorry.
100%
This is not accurate, you see plenty of high rated players in the low brackets. They are not locked to 2’s or 3’s so they can be 2500 in 3’s and 1600 in 2’s playing with their friends (I did this some last season on my lock as I got 2.1 in rbgs but had no interest in trying to play it in arenas), doing carries, or just cause they want to wreck some kids in the low brackets like Pikaboo does pretty much all day.
Your math is not correct, this does happen more often than you think. Hence why there are so many post about it and why so many casuals have just straight up quit. I won’t do bg’s on alts cause there is no way to ever get them BiS. The system is flawed, sorry but not even you can defend it.
I’m happy to help you see things but all you say is “this will not happen” while it happens. I think you need to open your scope of view a little.
Stop feeding the troll.
Sorry 10char
It’s part of the gearing up experience. It always has been and always should be imo. You get destroyed until you’re the one that does the destroying.
That’s what character progression is all about in PVP.
Any proof?
A 2500 3s player is likely going to climb out of the 1600 2s bracket very quickly. Which means they likely won’t have many games to play against lesser geared opponents.
Due to this, I don’t think it’s a huge problem. It happens, sure. But not enough for us to redesign the entire gear progression around it.
Can you prove it?
Alts are alts… if you want BiS that’s essentially a second main. Yes, you’ll have to put effort into getting your characters BiS geared.
The PVP gear gap has been blown way out of proportion. Ion himself says that 1 iLVL is equal to 1% power.
So even in the worst case scenario, which rarely ever happens in rated due to the matchmaking system, the different between 229 and 259 is only 30%. Now, 30% is a lot, but not completely unwinnable. I’ve won against worse odds.
I think the system is fine.
There is a difference between character progression and someone being limited to weaker gear while having to fight those with stronger gear. The gear should be obtainable with effort since PvP should come down to skill. TR players all have access to the same gear right? Not one game where they have 15 less ilvl than their opponent?
Why would I have proof? Side note, why do I have to prove things to you, we are discussing the game and our experiences. I am a grown man that has played this game for 15 years, no reason to make up stories.
Ever heard of Pikaboo? He spends a lot of time in the 1600-1900 bracket. He’s pretty good, you should check him out.
That is a very stubborn mindset. In MoP I had many “geared” alts and was able to be competitive on all of them. It was great, it’s what I have been raising my hand for this whole time. Blizzard could bring back one of the best gearing systems (I created a thread with a hybrid of this system, MoP, and WoD that would also be great) and make the game AMAZING for lots of people. I am trying my best to help Blizzard see the opportunities with this system and how great it could be. MoP/WoD/SL PvP Model
I don’t want to settle for fine, I want the system to be current and open many more doors than the current system.
Man, you’re being trolled into oblivion. Stop.
Anyone seen any info if they reduced honor costs??
Seriously doubt it.
With only a 13 ilvl boost, they will make PVP as grindy as possible so it does not affect PVE gearing.
