Yup. Saurfang specifically demanded that the campaign be as “gentile” on the locals as possible, and schemed it to basically be a fait accompli where there the night elves were baited into not having their armies around.
If Sylvanas had pitched her war as one of extermination, she’d have been deposed right quick. Literally nobody but Nathanos and maybe Gallywix would have been on board, as far as Horde leadership is concerned.
The only reason she wasn’t deposed immediately after was the fact that the Alliance was baying for blood and they’d all die if they seperated. Note how the second diplomatic assurances were brought forth, that a huge chunk of the Horde army rebelled.
OK.
When will the Horde pay for the attack on Astranaar, the attack on Darkshore and the burning of Teldrassil, but a little less (since they did obey)?
What video were you talking about? “The Old Soldier” or “Warbringers: Sylvanas”?
The cinematic where she’s gloating over the Night Elf whose name I forget. The way Blizz frames it, it seems like Sylvanas decides “Oh yea? Watch me!” when the Night Elf exposes her. Sylvanas orders the strike, twice, having to rage-tantrum the second time. To Nathanos of all people.
As for when the horde will pay, I don’t know. Not up to me.
I rolled and leveled a Troll Druid because I was excited about the Zandalari, so I played through the horde side of Teldrassil after my initial run through on my Ally main. I came out of the Alliance side feeling like THE HORDE WILL PAY WITH BLOOD!
After my Horde run through I felt like, nah. Horde were short sheeted. They’re gonna have to deal with this fallout internally. And they did!
All the battling leading up to Teldrassil I think was fair warfare. Heh, war-fair. It wasn’t easy for them to get as far as they did. The tides of those battles could have very easily swayed the other way. It was a good battle… up until Teldrassil.
The night elves are waging a genocide against the Horde. The night elves pay themselves to destroy the races of the Horde. Tyrande and Malfurion die. All night elves who have outlived their leaders have been declared innocent.
…
DEMON! Using this logic, the night elves have no reason to attack the Horde! Enrages, enrages, enrages!
This means that a civil war will have to be organized even before the gathering of troops. What a pity.
Edit.
Not an Alliance. The night elves will be the perpetrators of genocide.
Malfurion and Tyrande die. All living night elves are declared innocent at the time of Tyrande and Malfurion’s death.
This line of argument I have noticed as emerging in response to Horde claims that the Alliance needs to do something egregious and terrible for the Horde to ever appear to be justified. Shernish has lifted this and taken it into suggestions that Night Elves hit back horrifically, but at a horrific cost to themselves.
By starting with looking at what made the game what it is first of all. There was a bit of such discussion elsewhere.
That was used for others. You got enjoyable heritage quest line. And you’ll get more of such treatment from the current team. But, of course, those complains are not worth attention, since
Focus is on the cast of “main characters”, not races. Currently.
Nice try, but it’s not about civilians, but about those who fought to defend the that started the recent mess.
We’d need to see the devs caring about the player experience more than about their own preferences first.
It’s the only attitude that caused at least a modicum of positive change. All other groups got barely anything after their parts of the game fantasy were damaged.
Which is why I guess the idea is to diminish the result and go back to the devs ignoring the complains and continue ruining the remains of the game. Well, if that is what you wish.
To address the problems the players have, it requires placing personal egocentric view aside. Which I do not expect from the current narrative team.
Zul is the horde antagonist. Just saying.
To keep people engaged by perpetual cliff hangers. Keeping people guessing is more relevant that making an interesting story. Blizz avoid finishing stories, and when they try to, do it poorly and follow up by cliffhangers.
I think that would be the best outcome. If the game falls down far enough, there is a chance to get a competent narrative team instead of what we have.
Way to be dishonest. You know EXACTLY the group of people I’m referring to. Stop defending them.
These people complained Nathanos didn’t die during the Darkshore warfront, so tyrande kills him in the SL pre patch. The complaint? Nathanos didn’t die hard enough.
Tyrande in Torghast: You will know Elune’s wrath!
Tyrande facing Sylvanas: The wrath is mine alone!
Tyrande asking for NW power: I will serve you only if you grant me justice!
Tyrande in Shadowlands: While many of our people desire retribution, what we need most is renewal. Elune-adore.
Blizzard is now being dishonest through its own characters.
Well, you do prefer to defend blizz vision, so. Regardless of which group I sympathise with, those are mutually excluside direstions.
[spoiler alert: about most of my post go around to the idea that the problems that are in the game are shared among various themes, and are problems in the system, rather than individual quests or themes; so yeah, I’d prefer people uniting in calling out the BS instead of going against each other. But not all players / participants are interested in that so we have what we have - half derailed thread, pointing fingers, etc.]
The devs subvert expectations for the sake of itself. There is no good pay off.
Not understanding timing and context is a problem. They fail at it. Fail in interviews. Fail in gameplay. Fail in fixing choreghast. Fail and making decent amount of content for the systems they invent. And, to no surprise, same team with same phylosofy, failed in the same areas while working on the story part.
[and no, I do not mean the same people make Torghast, conduit energy, and story, but that the company is the same, culture is the same, and methodology is largely the same]
You obviously are pretty clueless then if you think me of all people are defending blizzard. But continue to defend the perpetual offended Blizz hates Night elves for eternity group. It’s going to get you no where fast.
