9.1 is almost out

“When he said ‘all will serve’ and continuously chained up people, forced them to kneel and tortured them into submission, I thought he was being metaphorical. If I had known he was literal, I never would have committed genocide.” - Sylvanas’ legal defense

since we’ve already jumped several sharks i think it would be funny if sylvanas’ inevitable trial wasn’t held in a courtroom (been there done that) but on a maury povich-esque goblin talk show

Nathanos you are NOT the father.

Don’t you just adore when they layer so many filters over the villain’s voice that you can barely make out what they are saying?

I want his reaction to be the one where he flips the chair back and starts doing pushups

the ending is going to reveal that the good half was actually the time she spent with nathanos lmao lol

If it ends up being that the love of a boyfriend was what kept Sylvanas’ soul intact, I will stare out over the sea for a long time.

I wish I could say I’m surprised, but the fact that the only consistent story direction of World of Retcons is genocide apologism will never be anything but baffling.

The only reason I’m not wishing you harm for putting this idea out in the universe is you just got out of a car crash but I hope your next haircut comes out a little weird.

I think the frustrating thing, for me, is that there is a decent story to be had here. The fragmenting souls bit, the Jailer and the Pantheon of Death as a “family” and their family contrasted with that of the Windrunners, and even the Wrynns. (Insert Vin Diesel here.) Sylvanas’ internal crisis of faith, and her whole soul having to deal with the horrors of what she’s done, and also looking at the ethical implications of that and how our heroes deal with it. The Arthas angle, which I think could be done well but I don’t have faith Blizzard will.

I dunno, I definitely don’t hate this story like some do. I just wish it was told better. There’s a great short story that involves Sylvanas, Vereesa, and the Jailer in “Folk and Fairy Tales of Azeroth” that has some great world-building, develops the Jailer a bit more and makes him feel like a PERSON, and explains that he has a fragment of her soul. It’s pretty great, but it’s shuffled away in an anthology of short stories. Like, come on.

I feel like a mom. I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.

I think the best part is when she literally does a banshee boardslide right in front of him before her “face turn” like girl what are you doing

Hating the story would be progress. It would mean I still felt something about it.

And while I’m overall happier just writing off WoW’s story and not letting it affect me so much, there is something kind of sad about looking at something that you really loved and feeling nothing for it.

We should have just had an expac themed around Tazavesh. Tazavesh is easily the best thing to come out of this patch.

This generally leads to really wild fetishes at least.

She played 4d chess and served Zovaal all to get her soul back so she could love Nathanos like he deserved. She couldn’t love Nathanos with only half a soul or whatever.

Maybe the real Sylvanas was all the Nathanoses we made along…the way?

Hrmn…

I feel like the Devs just cannot allow themselves to let go of Sylvanas. That having been said, and acknowledging there is no good way to write out her continued presence in the story, I think there would have been less… cringe-worthy methods to go about it.

Zovaal could’ve just dropped the shard of the other half of Sylvanas’ soul. The actual genocide-committing Sylvanas could’ve then been executed, while that shard is taken to Ardenweald, shoved into a Wildseed, and the other half of her soul gets to stroll around, perhaps hunting down clues as to what her other half had been doing all along.

Shadowlands could’ve ended with the Innocent, now living Sylvanas returning to the Horde, albeit probably returning as the Ranger-General of Quel’Thalas as a Blood Elf, rather than leading the Forsaken again.

ive no complaints, personally
but is Zovaal out to destroy -ALL- realities?
Or just the Shadowlands?
