I don’t like that Arthas keeps getting foreshadowed and the Anduin parallels are just too much. Please put Arthas back in the lore hole and step away.
It’s a shame Sylvanas went this way. I liked the Forsaken and that they broke themselves free through their own will. Not just “Arrows in her quiver.”
Where is Algalon when you need him?

This almost made me boot up the game again.
It would be really funny if you happened to have the Silvermoon broom pet out it suddenly came alive and swept up the Garrosh ashes under a rug or into a bin nearby.
Edit:: Also Anduin dropping his dad’s compass is definitely foreshadowing King Chin showing up in 9.2

I believe the blue shard bit gets a bit of a clearer explanation throughout the Korthia campaign. The cinematic is basically skipping to the last page of the chapter.
Cinematic is exactly what I expected, they’ve not been remotely subtle in their foreshadowing. Kind of disappointing because it’s not only poorly executed to try and redeem Sylvanas after everything they did to the character, but it’s also bland and boring. They could at least make it the kind of funny bad story you can get in b-movies etc.
Onwards to 9.2 where it’s revealed Elune stopped Tyrande from killing Sylvanas because she’s the only one who can help us stop the Jailer from achieving his goal because of…reasons. Betting it’s back to Azeroth to stop him from killing the world soul.

Why do so many hero characters just stand around while the villain monologues? Like for god’s sake, at least have them ineffectively punching at the villain Trevor Belmont style. That would be in character AND funny AND drive home how powerful the villain has gotten!

Because it’s rude to interrupt someone! If we forget our manners, are we really any better than the genocidal villain? We must maintain our civility.

it is really is shocking sometimes just how poorly this game is written
anyway i predict that all of this is going to lead to another trial (because the current writing team sure does love to re-use stuff) in maybe, oh, 4-5 months when we get 9.1.5 or whatever
Gloriously stupid indeed, but at least I got glasses and the ability to turn into a mushroom.

garrosh ended up having more agency and self-direction than the female villain who they keep trying to tell us is this independent, self-sufficient maverick who charts her own course
garrosh went out unrepentant, unapologetic, and on his own terms
meanwhile sylvanas has been led around by the man in possession of the “good half” (lol, lmao) of her soul, and now that she has it back they’re no doubt going to pull a ~her actions weren’t entirely her own~ handwave
it’d be funny if it wasn’t so telling

Garrosh realized where all of this was heading and decided to nope out before he could get the Sylvanas treatment.
As for the cutscene: I didn’t expect anything and I am still disappointed and just…it’s crap. There’s no nicer word for it, there’s nothing redeeming about it. It’s nicely rendered, I suppose.
and now that she has it back they’re no doubt going to pull a ~her actions weren’t entirely her own~ handwave
Yup, I called that the moment the revelation about splitting souls dropped. They will now make her totally sorry for everything she has done because she has “a good soul” again and she’ll now totally be on our side and realize how horribly wrong she has been. And we players are supposed to accept that. Then either one of two things will happen:
- She will take the Jailer’s place to keep the Maw closed as “repentance” for her action or sacrifice herself in another way, forcing characters to say she was good in the end.
- She will come back to Azeroth and be this new, totally dope leader who will try to atone for her sins.
There’s no way they Danuser will kill her, so strap in…

i know i said this in the other thread, but i don’t think “i didn’t have the good half of my soul” would fly at the nuremeberg trials
