9.1 cinematic spoilers

pretty much, I doubt they will really clarify why this works or how Anduin got out and to Oribos. Cause the writers don’t like it when they are hamstrung by the lore or having to make sense when telling their stories.

I probably just have too much Link to the Past on the brain lately (a similar workaround is done in that game’s story) but that somehow seems like one of the less-egregious plot oopsies to me. Could just be a thing where mortals can actually leave, but since Zovaal and his armies are not, he’s effectively ghostbusted. I suppose theoretically he could puppet Sylvanas but would have needed a Superpure soul like Anduin to sneak past Bastion’s guards instead, since Sylvanas is, well, Sylvanas.

But I know I’m still just really reaching.

These forums are both apathetic and enraged by any story development.

I’m not. Warcraft is fiercely dedicated to the Good IS Dumb trope. They’ll simply blame it on Kleia.

Because Anduin points out that she didn’t have a choice in her fate — Arthas just willed it upon her. Even after all this, she allows Anduin to choose because she wants to draw a very distinct line between herself and Arthas, even if its a moot point to people on the outside looking in.

I know its not a massive one but its just adds to the rest of issues with the main Narrative that this expansion has. It is making it a difficult to feel anything for the story when I keep coming across plot holes.

This feels like its going down the same path of BFA which will just leave to many things unresolved and too many questions to feel like there was ever going to be a satisfying conclusion.

This cinematic followed the same trend as BfA/SL writting AKA it´s superficial trash literally bleeding the bad writting from all the cracks this joke of a narrative follows.

We have “Undead” Anduin as a paralell to Arthas… only it´s not really an actual Arthas paralell when the writers once again saddled the character like a newborn with a protective shield of “not even his soul is being controlled, only his body ergo he´s still cinnamon roll uwu baby”. Soooo… him killing the Archon is even less of an issue casue guess what? iT wAsN´t HiM

Sylvanas apparently still falling for Anduin´s TnJ if her “remorse” face is taken into account… which is the old post-MoP BS of always (I mean people if the idea was to annoy players for 2 years just to justify Satan Sylvanas, then… commit, please? trying to walk back and pretend her making a 180º thanks to uwu Golden boy as a form of “redemption in the making” IS nothing but terribad writting and yet another annoyance for the players -why the hell did we had to suffer through BfA if this narrative exercise was to repeat ad nauseaum “Anduin is RIGHT cause muh Golden Boi!!!” BS.-

The only part I liked was the Archon dying cause frankly, she has been nothing but part of the problerm thanks to her prideful, obstinate and frankly ignorant perchant to disregard the reality that slapped her on the face. Served her right for acting like a moron.

I wonder if the next quest campaign will have us do what we can to save her, in order to keep that from happening.

Call me crazy but I don’t feel outraged by the cinematic or anything. I wasn’t expecting Anduin to get out unscathed in some way. Sylvanas’s doubt isn’t a new thing either by this point. So it’s just…the usual, I guess?

Although I don’t think the Winter Queen’s going to croak. I figure the idea is that the Heart of the Forest is going to get cracked open instead, since that was already an expressed plot beat at one point in questing, so the key likely resides inside of it instead of her. It just won’t be the ONLY thing keeping the Maw locked up.

watches 9.1 cinematic

…so, do we have a date on the release of Classic BC more specific than ‘this year’?

My reaction to this is;

“Cool”

And that’s not meant to be dismissive. I just started the Bastion campaign, so I still only dimly know who the conehead archangel is. But I do know she’s important.

This hasn’t been uncommon though. Krexus went out like a punk and I don’t actually remember the name of who killed him. Know it was a Chosen Baron, and also he was a large thing with an axe; which describes approximately 40% of everything in Maldraxxus. So that’s not helping me narrow it done.

Suffice to say between her, Krexus and Denathrius I don’t think the Winter Queen is long for this world. Some may consider that a bait and switch given their prolific positioning on the loading screens. But the BFA ones had the Drust, Sethrak, and Rezan on theirs. It’s usually just cool concept art and really shouldn’t be taken as an indication of the story’s themes.

As for the cinematic itself; I liked how Uther noticed something was clearly amiss, and I hope he’s more present in the story moving forward.

Other than that - yeah it’s fine. I wish Blizz would remember Anduin’s a Priest. We actually can do some very cool ish that I think would look great in a cinematic. Especially on Shadow spec, which would’ve been totally appropriate for this scenario.

Seriously I get it’s just my imagination but I picture a killing Shadow Word: Death as popping someone’s head, Scanners style. And I think it’d be hard to walk back moody club Anduin if he actually gruesomely murdered a good guy. But instead he just keeps flailing swords at people. Which we can’t even wield.

But otherwise like I said, cool. Sounds fun. So far I’ve enjoyed most of Shadowlands. I’m game for more. I kinda hope this new Maw zone is the sort of nightmare urban sprawl zone I’d hoped Ny’alotha would be.

By the time I got this toon to 110 Argus was open. I’ve actually not seen a huge amount of Legion content lol

oh boy that sucks, suramar was quite the ride culminating in the night hold.

Honestly I’m starting to think the Drust storyline will end up being like this. For instance the big deal that Katharine makes about returning to Thros to save all of the souls the Drust had taken prisoner. Some of which only ended up in Thros thanks to Ashvane dumping them on that cursed Island (e.g. Jaina). We never got that plot thrad resolved in BFA. Then we have the Drust in Ardenweald which do succeed in sending some of them through the Grove of Awakening before the Wild Hunt stops them. However the Drust still remain a threat. They have invaded Ardenweald before Shadowlands and they might again.

Blizzard tends to do this a lot (e.g. that necromancer which killed Admiral Taylor). Hell they even mentioned that the Odyn vs Helya subplot in Legion would’ve met this fate if they didn’t notice it when testing Halls of Valor and Maw of Souls. Sometimes they have characters escape or survive a raid encounter, implying that they will return at some point in the future but they never do. Goriona from Dragon Soul (Warmaster Blackhorns mount) is the one I bring up the most. Mainly because of the Twilight Dragonflight appearing in Legion (Shaman order hall campaign) and BFA (Island expeditions / Crucible of Flame quest chain). 8.3 would’ve been the perfect time to bring her back, either as an enemy or an ally. However she is probably still flying off into the sunset. At least it beats rowing a boat for 4 seasons.

I’ve heard it’s wonderful. And the zone looks amazing. I only unlocked flying there when it got added for free by the patch. That and Draenor have been fun to revisit before I’d rush through them to get back to flying.

the eternal ones are more like titan watchers, not titans, from their power potential.

It was. Plus the city itself made it feel like it was an actual city. Still wish that Nazjatar was the city itself instead of what we got. Also speaking of Nazjatar, the Eternal Palace felt more like a summer Palace instead of the actual heart of Azshara’s empire. I mean the section of Zin’Azshari we get to explore looks like it was on the border of the city and not the heart of the city itself.

Curious. He still seems alive. Just… either Possessed or Mind Controlled. He is called a vessel, like an Avatar, so it seems like more of a Possession. The difference between Mind Control and Possession seems to be blurred, as all 3 of them are standing together at the end. I wonder how that happened.

Did Sylvanas use her enhanced powers to control Anduin? I wonder if she told the Jailer that Anduin would be more effective as a living puppet in order to buy time for some miracle.

The Jailor was probably like:

“Lets kill him and make a cool weapon!”

And Sylvanas was like:

“NOOI!!! …because… he can be an even cooler weapon alive!”
