The game has added more and more soloable content over time. Have you played classic? There’s almost nothing for you to do at cap without a group compared to now. So not sure why you’re upset that “they changed” when the game is more in line with how you play than ever.
I also still don’t understand why people play MMORPGs solo. It’s literally just a bad RPG at that point.
What’s “real” content? A new zone, a new dungeon, a new raid…if that doesn’t qualify as content then I think you need to define what you think real content is.
I’ll give you new zone for now. As we don’t really know what content that new zone is. Is it like Ashran? Timeless Isle? what are we looking at here? I’ll hold my thoughts on that one.
new dungeon/raid not for me, I don’t like doing them when they are new, as one I’m just not good at it and can’t stand to be the one person that brings the group down. and two, it’s group content, fast paced group content. not for me.
I would enjoy doing new things in the covenant zones to be honest? Can we expand them somehow? finding new things (not repetitive) to do or explore would be great. Frankly they are small zones and we’ve finished them a zillion times over now.
new quests would be great, crafting ideas would be great, an event would be great! listen, there are folks way smarter than me that can think of things that I can not. I’m not a designer, I can only tell you how I’m feeling about the state of things as they are now.
Yeah. I played Classic when there weren’t any expansions. I’ve been here the whole time, man.
I did dungeons with friends then too. I never raided in Vanilla. The game was new and I was new to the genre. I leveled by myself and didn’t reach cap until right before BC. But I had fun. Also, if you missed that, I played by myself.
In BC I started raiding. Outside of raiding, I did professions, I leveled 1 alt (Alliance just got Shamans). I played mostly by myself when we weren’t attuning people to raids or when we weren’t raiding.
I don’t play Classic now because it’s a terrible game by modern standards, IMO. Shadowlands is just like someone tried to make a classic clone.
Yeah, we get a new zone to peek at. I guess that’s THE solo content in the game, right? Cool. Finally, something to do for 20-30 minutes at a time before I have to wait a week to do the next part of the story. Such compelling content.
They haven’t added a new solo player system to the game since 2012. So yeah, it’s got more solo content than Classic does, but I’m not trying to compare turds to find out which one looks more appetizing.
Every WoW competitor right now has solo and casual content figured out. Which is a real shame, because I have a lot of time invested in this game. I have friends who still raid here. But this is by far the worst MMO of the top 4 right now when it comes to solo or casual content, and I don’t want to stick around just to raid.
And I’m not going to do other stuff that I don’t find fun, because you find it fun. The devs are neglecting a lot of their players.
Cool story, man. I never appreciated how big zone = compelling solo content. I guess going for a stroll in the video game is how you have fun in video game retirement. Maybe I’ll sniff the digital roses and /lay and look at the clouds. Nothing more fun than that.
Why would I want a good crafting system, or a new collection system, or something new to do with my battle pets, or any sort of new customization? I’m getting a ZONE.
Yeah, but 90% of my time in Classic was spent leveling any given character. In SL, leveling took all of two days. The bulk of solo content has been cut out of the game. Interjecting “at cap” is really skewing the conversation. It’s like talking about stuff to do at the beach with the caveat that water sports are to be disregarded.
many of us have played the game since Vanilla and burnt out on the group content type of stuff years ago, yet we have a lot of time invested in the game/characters to just go “play another game because MMO”.
Stop being that guy. You’re making yourself look like a horses something or other.
I’m not one of them. I want good friggen systems in the game to work with outside of raid, that doesn’t require me to find a tank and 3 DPS.
I got Torghast, but it comes with nothing to work toward aside from ONE mount I wouldn’t use, because it’s ugly. It’s a mobile game I can play with my RPG character.
Why are professions even in the game still? Does anyone still enjoy walking around and collecting flowers, then AFKing while stuff is crafted? What good is 99% of the armor you make with a blacksmith, tailor, or leatherworker? Why don’t professions have quality transmog to make or something that requires effort? What happened to cosmetic glyphs? It feels like they absolutely gave up on professions after Legion. Does anyone even level Jewelcrafting anymore, so they can sell a gem for a little above the vendor price?
If you don’t think professions can be great solo content, open up a youtube video of crafting in FFXIV. It definitely is.
As for story content, do you remember the biggest complaints about Suramar, or the Broken Shore? Well, it feels like Blizzard took those delivery designs and doubled down on them. If I’m playing this game to enjoy a good story, I have to come back after it’s all over, otherwise I’m sitting around waiting for a new 30 minute episode every week.
I can understand not wanting an entire set, but being able to craft one piece of normal raid ilvl gear isn’t going to make or break the game. You’ve got more problems if your raid group is “required” to have one slot of gear.
