Imagine calling that person out in the forum of that game.

So to be short sweet and to the point.

  1. DDOS attacks cannot be prevented unless they were to block all external traffic from connecting. So for the uneducated hopefully this enlightens you.

  2. Corporations such as blizzard choose by their right not to reveal information about what is occurring for many reasons.

The most important reasons are simple and logical:
#1 You don’t glorify an attacker nor give them the attention they are looking for.
#2 You never tip off the enemy plain and simple
#3 You do not reveal tactics or strategies being used so that stupid people can’t keep doing stupid things.

Is it frustrating? Yes, it is. Will it last forever? No it won’t. Watch some hulu, netflix, or tv or whatever.

Will this person get caught. Absolutely. DDoS attacks are the most basic of attacks and are usually done by morons with no ability. I hope they enjoy the jail time. :slight_smile:

She/he could have worded in a less snappy way though. A simple, “We cannot discuss the details, we apologize for the inconvenience.” would be tired and boring, but it wouldn’t annoy people.

honesty, people dont realise how utterly boned the kid behind this is. theres a reason blizz is a rare ddos target, and why ddos isnt done more often in general. doing the attack is the easy part. getting away with it is the hard part.

well, has the upstream ISP done anything yet? It’s been like this all day…

If you have one over level ten, and it isn’t showing, you might have to log out of the forums and log back in.

Not sure. I dont have any retail characters on this account. As long as you have a 10, i would think it should be choosable.

Yes, this is what less than a movie, popcorn, and a coke buys you - a month’s access to the game. If you think $15/month buys you QoS guarantees and uptime commitments you need to re-evaluate your expectations.

I get that and truly understand as someone who works in IT support. This was merely a quick and hastily put together response to get the message out. They are just as frustrated as you are. Support are people too! these days your lucky to get an actual human response :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope I manage to log in, remain logged in for a few days while the DDoS continues, so I can gear up and farm leveling people on STV.

His twitter account was suspended so now i guess hes going to have to make a new one

What more information would you like? They’re not about to announce the technical details behind an apparent DDoS or their plans to track the attacker(s) - so what else is it you think they’re not telling?

I’m not frustrated, I’m trying to help them. Making something snappy just gives them more problems.

So we know who it is, and etc, and hes still out there? haha. It’s been hours of this.

And I like to get on their case about it.
