So by that logic 8.1 and 8.3 are were actual 9.0 and 10.0 cuz new race.
Yeah, I was disappointed with class design news. They kept saying that they couldn’t do major class changes until 9.0, and then they revealed that they don’t want to change classes much in 9.0 either. That’s disappointing.
Well, I’m not going to make a claim without testing and I’m not sure I agree either but I suppose you could say Shadowlands just fits in with Overwatch 2: full priced games for patch level content.
My bad, I forgot that I shouldn’t worry about everything as it’[s just early days and I should wait for alpha/beta/prepatch/9.1/9.2/9.3/nextexpansion.
I should just wait, no need to discuss or offer suggestions!
You’re knocking a concept so far. The mindset that it’s already screwed helps nobody… Since there isn’t anything to base it on except some words on a page.
Most people would accept no new class but they threw on top that minimal class changes and what sounds like essences 2.0. I think at least each xpac people like seeing something new with their classes/specs rather it be one new ability or talent.
Even if you removed demon hunters from Legion it still would of felt like an expansion. so its not about not adding a new class or not. Far too much of the next xpac feels copy paste(at least of what we have heard so far).
We don’t actually know if any specs are getting overhauled or not. They just said they have to be careful with that. It’s clear that unpruning means there will be significant changes to some specs.
They aren’t just going to completely overhaul specs for no reason.
Holinka explicitly said that there would be no major spec overhauls.
i bet the pre orders are really low.
Guys…
When you think about it. Every expansion is either 1.0 or…not 1.0…
Yeah we do. Ion explicitly stated no overhauls. He went to pains to make the point. Unless you’re calling him a liar?
10000000% agree so much, bringing curses back isn’t going to fix warlocks… do devs even play locks?
Yeah, it’s thus far a pretty lazy expansion. The only new feature is the Maw zone which gets progressively harder the longer you are there, which they didn’t really address well at BlizzCon. The tower is just another soft-gated scenario like the Deaths of Chromie or the upcoming SW/ORG instances. And then just four zones with factions? That’s the least amount of any expansion. They have to be holding back on announcing a big feature, right? This can’t be everything.
That’s the feeling I get. I mean, it’s a whole new expansion yet there’s only 4 zones…
Nobody said that. The trailer lacked feature, it has less features than bfa…
There doesn’t have to be a new class and race with every expansion Shadowlands is the first expansion that has my friends sort of excited for retail WoW.
I think it might be more accurate to say Blizzard is not all that far along in designing Shadowlands and that is why it looks more like a patch than one would like. The reveal was very skimpy on details.
Also historically we have not had expacs that felt like a continuation of the story in quite this way. We didn’t see the Burning Legion in Wrath and The Lich King wasn’t a part of Cata and Pandaria was all new and so on. Shadowlands, by “sort of” keeping the same foes because of Sylvanas, does feel more like a patch.
However, we know so little. We just wait and see, I guess.
GD is a strange place tbh…
So, BC wasnt an expansion since it didnt add a Class? But it did add a race so its like 1.12.5?
Cataclysm didnt add a new Class either but did add races…
How does this map if you get a RACE but not a CLASS?
How many patches are an Allied Race worth?
Someone with basic reading comprehension skills would realise it’s no the lack of a single thing that makes SL feel like a patch, but rather the totality of “missing” things normally associated with an expansion.
At this stage, SL could have announced as 8.4 in similar vein to argus or nazjatar/mechagon and people wouldn’t have batted an eyelid.
Yeah, again, I would rather my class not be completely new class every 2 years.
