Is this all you do? You go on a post, quote someone, and thatâs it? I feel like thatâs just post farming. You donât even provide feedback.
Itâs not. I donât have to do all of that stuff. I do dailies within an hour , and do for the rest what ever I wanna do.
Full time job might be a bit of hyperbole, but I will give you that it is quite a bit to maintain. It can be especially tough if you really want to work on an alt though. Would be nice to have account bound essences but oh well I guess.
The quote speaks for itself.
It really doesnât.
Now multiply this x2 for every alt you have. Thereâs so much content in this game I want to do but never get around to doing it because GOTTA DO YOUR BFA CHORES! Blizzard canât just trust their 15+ year old game to have enough things for players to do itâs embarrassing.
Rofl I never once grinded in WotLK. That was my most active expansion too. There was a WEEKLY currency cap you could hit in like 2hrs. Not a single reputation needed to be revered or exalted. All that Scholnazar stuff I didnât bother with. It gave pets and mounts and I didnât want them so I didnât do them.
Meanwhile in BFA I gotta max out all the reps to get basic features of the game unlocked like the ability to create whatever race I want. Or use my flying mount I invested thousands of gold into per character. Gotta get that new uldum rep maxed out so you can get that essence oh joy. Gotta grind currency to get a vial to run a vision to grind your cape, canât just put a drop in the raid or whatever that upgrades it once a week.
All they need to do is make the cape, neck artifact, and essences progression account wide. But nah enjoy your endless grind if you ever get bored of a class and want to try something new.
dam all this shields love the grind. guess grind is content for people.
I prefer new dungeons, raids and pvping for fun. grind
Yeah this is especially bad if you log into an alt youâve abandoned since perhaps Uldir or perhaps the raid after. Youâll be stuck with a low AP neck, no essences, hardly any rep perhaps, and will need some catch up gear as well.
my main issue is so many of the upgrades being locked behind dailies when raiding and mythics are the real content. dailies are not content, they are chores. they are there to make noobs feel successful at wow, not to challenge raiders. being forced to grind uldum for months for a bis minor essence is retarded.
It kinda does feel like a job, in some regards, yes. Which is why I started taking my laptop to work and grinding out dailies and other mind-numbing in-game tasks while getting paid real money to do it. This is a win-win, for me. It has made me enjoy playing a little bit more and has lessened my desire to want to drive my car off the edge of a cliff because Iâm working night shift and everything is wack. But, back on point. I agree with a lot of the sentiments of above posters. The word âchoreâ is apt, in relation to a lot of aspects of this game.
yeah but all those grinds were done it 2-3 months and you didnât feel the need to do it everyday like the dunkin donut man.
I never thought Iâd see a person defending time-gates refer to the activities themselves as chores. Ouch.
The entire problem with timegating, by the way, is that I feel as if I have to check in every day for my chores, itâs not something Iâm doing of my own free will, and framing it as saving overzealous players from themselves is just incredibly disingenuous.
Yes, some people would grind out new content in mere days without some form of gate, but I say just ⌠let them? Itâs their own fault if they want to consume all the content as fast as possible, and theyâre free to roll an alt, or simply play another game for a while if they churn through it too quickly.
Stretching out small amounts of content over weeks via timegates isnât, and never has been to the benefit of the player.
If they stick to their plan about the frat house cosmetic rewards being locked behind choosing that frat house, even on alts, itâs already not alt friendly.
No, its all about luck, this whole exp is about how lucky and close are you with RNGesus. If you are lucky you can get pretty much all you need in a few weeks, or if your like most, your stuck grinding constant chores to get your loot lotto ticket to see if you scratch off 3 corrupted icons or if you only got a normal item again.
Also i really dont get how people say the game is not alt friendly. Go play the classic servers and have multiple characters then we can talk about whats not alt friendly. Is there an AZ grind? yeah but thats not just an alt issue thats a game mechanic issue in that its bad.
Yeah, that was my pointâŚ
This is deceptive. You can easily reach 435 (at least) within a week without having to give up an arm and a leg. The Azerite Power jumps pretty quickly as you do the various ârequiredâ bits and bobs.
- Focus on reps that provide the âBiSâ essence for your build(s)
- Do any and all world quests that reward gear
- Do any emissary that provides gear or azerite power.
- Do heroics.
- Try to get into mythics (harder if you donât have a guild or friends who run it)
- Do world bosses.
Trinkets, rings, and weapons tend to be the biggest âhold backâ for most folks. But it is otherwise fairly easy to gear up for a casual, let alone someone who puts forth effort into playing.
So we canât call people out for being a hypocrite? Is that any different then folks complaining about how awful a game is, while playing the game? Whining about their grievances to the world as though their opinion was absolute truth?
The game does have a lot of issues. Many of which stem from Activisionâs direction, rather then Blizzard themselves. However the mindless complaints of âthis sucks, that sucks, it was better at x point in timeâ is⌠it is someone who complains for the sake of complaining (to be heard) rather then due to the fact that they have legitimate concerns.
Hmm, I remember PvPing in PvE gear back when the PvP system launched and during Burning Crusade. Someone in full BT raid gear (i.e. Shadow resistance) would dominate in the PvP scene. BiS wasnât always PvP gear. It was, at that time, more prestige. And some of the PvP gear was BiS for PvE.
I do agree that World of Warcraft does things backwards with PvP. Especially when youâve played FF14 or GW2. However the PvP system came into the game late and was an afterthought, only being formed after they saw how fervently people threw themselves into it.
Personally the arenas were a mistake. I dislike the mentality thatâs grown in PvP so I choose to avoid it unless I wanna farm for transmogs.
That is more in tune to the original PvP implementation. Honor from winning and/or killing opposing players. (They had to cap the daily from any given person because one faction or another would drag out matches just to farm people. Then the timer was added because theyâd just GY camp until fresh meat spawned.)
BiS =/= forced progression
You CAN gear up simply from PvPing. It is neither quick nor efficient. It can however be done if you absolutely hate PvE. The desire to get the best as quickly as possible is a personality issue and not a problem with the game. You want that shiny. You want it now.
The game is not required to allow players to get the top end, competitive, gear the moment you are ready to dip your toe into the content.
You poor thing you. You have to PLAY the game to get the rewardsâŚSHOCKING. Of course if you hadnât taken that year offâŚthen you wouldnât have to play the game as much now would you.
You poor victim you. I feel bad you actually have to play the gameâŚthat you are paying to play?
Iâm sorry, truly, for your frustration. Having oneâs digital recreation be a burden isnât fun
For my perspective tanking in Wrath: I recall it required more specific gear (defense stat, expertise, etc) than it does now. If I want to raid on normal in BFA, as a tank, I donât have to worry about that. I did in Wrath - Unless I didnât care about getting criticalâd every so often or parry hasteâd.
Had to farm for specific pieces, and while it didnât take long, it was an important gate to higher content. (Dungeons required less defense before uncrittable, versus raid if I remember correctly).
Prot Paladins also had a fairly strict 9696âŚrotation. Now? We have some choices that change gameplay in a way I find fun.
Iâm rambling now, my apologies.
Poor WoW players, it isnât even fun and they have to do it anyway, forever and always until the end of time.
Itâs a pity, really.
