I got no beef with a grind. I got beef with the complete redesign of the game every major patch now. 8.2 new trait system. 8.3 30 more new systems that confuse and make no sense to me.
The inverse relationship with increasing alt-unfriendliness and sub-numbers shows that there is at least some degree of correlation, implying this measure is accurate.
I wouldn’t call extremely long, grindy, time-gated, rng drop legendary quests very alt friendly. Just 1 instance of bad RNG with the quest drops guaranteed another week of waiting to be able to do the next part of the time-gated quest chain. Even in the final content patches many alts got screwed over by RNG and had to wait an additional week every step to continue to the next step.
Then there was the infamous “earn 4k valor points” step of the pandaria quest chain that took a minimum of 4 weeks of capping valor for every alt. That seems extremely alt-unfriendly to me.
Oh really sherlock? It’s almost like whatever opinion there is, it’s just an opinion. Flying, LFR, alts, mains, mythic raiding, keys, pandas, everything, literally everything is both liked and hated by players.
There was never and will never be a consensus on what this game should be. To argue that sub numbers went up or down because the game was alt friendly is ludicrous. It ignores so much that its crazy.
You all need to stop pretending that if blizzard just made the changes you want, that 14 million people would play this again.
This game’s playerbase went down because mmos stopped being the most popular. Gaming moved on to mobas, card games, battle royals and is now going into 3d/ vr.
See above, that is your opinion. Other people claim otherwise. It’s all opinion.
It is now Friday and I have finally unlocked the cloak on three characters. I am going to lose my mind try to keep all three of them from falling behind on visions and rep!
