I think you’re confusing “wanting” to do something with “having” to do something. Just do the parts of the game you want.
But it’s not really much of a grind. There’s umpteen ways to get AP in the game, like so many ways. You could get a level every few days just by playing casually
no you don’t remember it well.
i remember we just have to play the game with no system over another system.
For example, there was the pvp vendors in wotLk that we just need to farm honor to get the pvp gear.
The system that we have today, we farm pve items to use in pvp and if the other player have more time and lucky to grind, he will be better equiped than you and will do a better job on pvp. That’s not fair - it’s a chance, a lucky system, if you want just to do some pvp you can’t do it anymore because you need to do pvE to be “ok” for pvp.
there was no system like that in wotlk or even cata.
the grind in cata was just - go to pvp , kill ppl, losing or wining you will be rewarded with honor then buy pvp equip without randomizations on traits and you will be competitive in almost any case…
This type of “grind” is fun for pvp player - just go and kill ppl.
Tell to anyone who wants to pvp, that before it, they need to do a +10 key, trys to drop the best equipment for their build, wait for the next week to see if they got a good/best item in the chest, do raids for better equipment/traits on azerite…i can keep going on the systems that we have today, ok ?
I think you got what i’m trying to say here…
Yikes. That’s all you have to come back with?
It’s a lot but there is no 8.3.5 coming.
This content is going to last and keeping certain grinds like essences relevant is going to keep the content active and lasting.
I’m not a huge fan of it but I realize what they were going with and will be taking my time. I probably won’t complete nyalotha normal for months.
Well said they don’t know what a true grind is WoW BFA grinds are a joke.
I’m sure we both see the irony.
What, exactly, did you grind in Wotlk?
Rep bars via dailies? Those capped out very quickly.
Raid mats? Raid mats were overflowing the entire expansion.
What are you talking about, exactly?
In nazjatar you can get everything except trinkets and rings at ilvl 385 -390 and you can upgrade them. You get weapon 370 which is not great but not bad for returning players. You can get that in one hour. If you play hunter on retail , you will not have problem with 8.3 as well. Jess I almost solo complete vision with 420 Ilvl with cloaks rank 2
It’s not bad usually in last patches of expansion since they give allot of catch up mechanics
Yup.
AP grind is real if you start to do the napking math.
Not really. I think it’s funny you assume to know a lot about what I’ve played. You don’t have a legitimate argument nor evidence to back it up so your default reaction is “lol you must not play MMOs”.
I can do as many dailies as I want in Destiny 2. FFXIV doesn’t punish me for not playing daily because dailies aren’t fundamental to the game. Guild Wars 2 prides itself on being unconventional to most MMO standards by having its focus being story-driven content. Path of Exile doesn’t tell me to stop playing because I’ve looted my allotted sum of gear.
None of these games are time-gated in how they approach content, and the parts that are guarantee that I will be rewarded (running raids every week in FFXIV guarantees a piece of gear for your character). WoW expects you to put weeks in before it rewards you comparably.
Not only that, but the time-gated aspects of these other games are not punishing the player by skipping a few days to play.
To be honest, I don’t even need to convince you that I play other MMOs so I don’t really know why I’m wasting my time.
Agreed 100% and I would add to that:
I can play as long as I like and run dungeons, craft, farm rep and quest all day and all night on ESO
Same for Neverwinter Online and Star Trek Online
In Revelation Online I can glide at level 1 and fly at 29 just by hitting the level cap. I can play to my heart’s content and do what I want without time-gates.
It’s only games that furnish anorexically thin content that time-gate. If there was enough real content to keep players busy for more than 30 minutes at a time, it wouldn’t be time-gated.
Apart from heroics and raids, and the occasional rep, WoW rarely time-gated anything before team Diablo took over.
The only point I would argue is that I think WoW does have content. The problem is that Blizzard doesn’t incentivize doing most of it if it’s not gearing you towards the endgame.
I personally love this expac so far… the auction house is a bit to be desired considering it seems harder to navigate now, but as an avid auctioner of stuffs, I am sure I will get used to it…
It’s true. If you skip bgs, world pvp, rated pvp, keys, raids, islands, and all of the other small content like pet battles, wafronts, tmog farming, achievements, etc then you are right, WoW had no content…
The list of impactful pve items that crossed into pvp from vanilla, bc, and wrath is so long it’s pure comedy that you would even think this, let alone type it.
It’s actually sad that we measure the quality of the content by how easy it is to do it on alts…
I never said WoW had no content. I said BfA’s content is thin gruel, dull, unoriginal and uninteresting. IMHO the quality of WoW content has declined substantially over the last 6 years.
bgs - are not exclusively or originally BfA content and FYI it’s literally the only thing I do on retail anymore, BG my twinks
world PvP - hasn’t been fun since early days imho
rated PvP - not my cuppa
keys - a fancy bar to content, ironically the key to same
raids - no time for real raiding anymore
islands - Y A W N
pet battles - not exclusive or original BfA content, but I actually level a toon to max doing pet battles.
BfA sucks on toast and for now, retail is dead to me. I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself.
Please stop putting words in my mouth.
You literally just created a detailed list telling us how you skip 80% of the game. How am I putting words in your mouth?
MMOs don’t need grinding, but Skinner Boxes do.
I never said WoW had no content. Those are words you put in my mouth.
Also I never said I skip 80% of the game. In BfA’s case, I’ve skipped 100% of the game.
And if you read my list then you know I in fact, do enjoy several items on it. I hope you know your list is not an exhaustive manifest of everything there is to do in WoW. I also enjoy questing, farming, crafting, rep farming and mog and mount farming, among other things. I used to love power leveling friends; just running old content for shiggles but 7.35 ruined that fun.
I don’t like the direction the retail game is going so I play it less and less. And I have stated several times, I eagerly await the launch of other legacy servers.
In the meantime I have other games to play, including Classic, which imho is an entirely different game.
all the grinds for reputation gear then was eventually over in a few months but this goes on forever.
