You are 100% right. Before playing wow, I was playing a Korena MMO called pristontale and that was all there was to the game. No raids, dungeons were just… zones. Minimal ‘boss’ fights and almost no pvp. It was just a grind. It was basically a chatroom with game.
I enjoyed it, but man was it a grind.
And you’re right, that’s what the game is turning into. Sad.
You don’t seem to know what a Korean style mmo endless grind is.
And yes, if you take a break, sometimes you wind up behind.
For one character, there are only a couple bis essences you have to try for anyway. AP has catch up systems, and won’t take that long to get back up to par, if you bother to put in any effort and now has an end point so you don’t have to endlessly grind. Gear is resetting with the new raid and M+ tier, so you don’t have to worry about whatever your ilvl is now. And the time gates are there specifically so that stuff isn’t an endless grind.
What it really looks like, is you are just complaining there is actually content to do and opportunities to work on your character.
Not OP, but I very much dislike being forced to do certain events each week just so that you don’t fall behind the curve.
I’m fine with working to advance my character but I want to advance at my own time of choosing. When I left Retail for Classic I wasn’t aware till then how much weekly timers had given me anxiety.
Raid loot is fine but working for the same BFA rewards each tier is also a step too far for me.
It absolutely is a full-time job. This is a sign of where Blizzard is now…just come up with crap to make you grind daily…this will be the next expansion too. I think I’m done. Not fun.
Today sucked because all of the stuff was upfront. Had to do all of it at once. I assume it will be better as it gets spread out. The ultimate goal is to cap the cloak each week.
The OP is complaining that the grind is obnoxious due to all the last minute gimmicky systems. There certainly needs to be content. I’m glad there is and grateful for it. It’s just a few too many systems for new or returning players. Even one alt is almost unthinkable. I’m posting on my alt to make it feel like he’s involved somehow
For the most part, the game is great. I’ve played other MMO’s and this is still the best. It could be better, but good job Blizz.
There are other ways to keep people subscribing than just time gating everything. Create engaging, entertaining gameplay that will keep people coming back for more. Players shouldn’t have to dread logging in to do monotonous, grindy nonsense so that they can participate in the content they enjoy such as raiding and PvP. WoW did fine for a long time without time gating everything. I don’t understand why that had to change. It’s a lazy excuse to provide players with a lack of content.
Literally everything about 8.3 is a time gate. There’s no new zones to explore, no new battlegrounds, there’s nothing new involving dungeons, and the entirety of your gameplay is boiled down to repeating a handful of quests every single day and then waiting until Tuesday for your mythic chest or raid reset. It’s half baked crap.
Not sure what this QQ is about. You always need to gear up further in new patches. Many catchup systems allow you to quickly gear.
And now you’re further complaining about gearing and the fact you’ve always needed correct secondary stats in this game to maximize you’re characters potentials.
Not sure why people still cry about this. Between the fact you instantly get sent to Artifact level 35 and catchup mechanics, there isn’t much of a “grind”. There are a few basic tasks to setup your toon and you will be in the 60s within a few days. Because of catchup, each of those levels only requires like 1k AP which is nothing
There are so many quick and easy sources of Azerite armor these days. Over time, you can work toward your perfect pieces but it’s not going to be detrimental to you if you’re running with pieces that aren’t perfect. Besides that, most catchup azerite pieces usually have one or two of the best traits when you have a full set.
Pro tip, you don’t need every Essence. Focus on the ones you actually need and it’s a rather short grind.
You literally get this from the intro quest to the patch and playing the patches content normally.
This is the only thing that could be bad but it won’t be terrible. Requires you to actually, you know, play the game.
Like, looking at this list, it tells me you have zero interest in WOW and playing it’s content. Go play candy crush and get lost.
To be fair you have to do LESS than any one person that didn’t quit… I did and came back and had to do it all, and didn’t complain, as I was aware same as any normal sane person would be that if you choose to stay away you’ll have two patches of content to catch up on.
And there is catch-up mechanics now, its FAR easier than what it was when current, you really have no complaint, you chose to leave, you chose to stay away and now what? you think that you should just have this stuff handed to you as you decided to play again?
I don’t think mmos are for you because all mmos are about grinds. If there were no grinds then then people would be done with the game after a few weeks.
What is funny is you are a lvl 60 classic player and you are complaining about “easy grinds” in retail. Hypocrisy at its best.
