In otherwords Talani is pulling the same stunt Azshara did with N’Zoth yet Sylvanas is more entertained than enraged like N’Zoth was.
For what it’s worth, I’m surprised at how Blizzard has been writing the Zandalari. They’re not shallow stereotypes. They’re only punching bags for plot. I was expecting them to be humbled and neutered before joining the horde, but they’ve been able to keep their pride despite everything.
It gives me hope for the future.
It’s funny really. The only reason Talanji can make such a demand is that she knows the Horde needs them, and the only reason Sylvanas accepts is because she knows the Zandalari need them.
Very much an Azshara/N’zoth type situation.
I’ve never felt so ashamed to be a fan of a series, only to watch it fall apart right in front of me.
I feel like I’ve wasted so many of my years becoming passionate and committed to this series, only to watch it turn into this.
I genuinely feel depressed that my favorite fantasy setting is being reduced to this. I feel there is no happy ending in sight that makes me satisfied for being true and faithful for a decade. At least in WOD I could accept that it was filler and that it was a mutable existence in the overall narrative.
It’s like looking into the past and seeing the Age of Sigmar happen to Warhammer Fantasy all over again.
We Do not speak of that, there is no age of sigmar in ba sing se
Well…the good news is I won’t feel bad once Zelling inevitably dies now.
Actually we dont need them. We needed their ships but they are gone now. Sylvanas decided not to abandon them which was rather nice of her for once.
What not a Star Wars fan? Everyone was ashamed of that train wreck sad to see it happening to WoW.
They still have ground forces as well as a fleet, it’s just badly depleted. The Horde has already invested so much into dealing with the Zandalari’s problems, they can’t just abandon them now because they’ve been weakened.
If it’s any consolation, I think I know exactly how you feel. Despite Blizzard’s claims, it certainly feels like some of us have “chosen the wrong groups to be a fan of”.
As this road continues, There genuinely doesn’t seem to be any way out for my favorite race, as well as the Horde as a whole, that doesn’t result in the complete brutalization of it’s identity. I know many of my fellow forsaken fans that I have talked to, most of them former contributors here in the discord, already came to this conclusion months ago.
It’s incredibly disheartening to watch something you are a fan of in WoW destroyed, and know that it is going to be incredibly difficult to fix, at the very least.
I kinda ended up ranting a bit myself here, but I just wanted to express my feelings on developments in general, as well as show some degree of camaraderie to you, Gladwell. Based on your posts, I think we agree on most things WoW.
The gesture is appreciated, though it isn’t just the Forsaken. It isn’t just the Horde. It’s an entire narrative that pushes all of the elements in the current ‘surface’ of the story into a collision course against each other. It leads nowhere at best and betrays the very identities these elements were created with at worst.
Even when it comes back to cosmic powers that aren’t apart of this main story, they feel weak, cardboard and lacking impact. Oddly enough, it’s only the side stories that aren’t relevant to anything going on that I start to ignore the worst that has come to happen to Warcraft.
What’s happening to the Forsaken storyline and the Horde storyline is earth shatteringly absurd, as is the Night Elf storyline and the general Alliance storyline but I don’t mean those issues that’re one out of the many. I mean, I feel ashamed to be a fan of the Warcraft storyline and that’s what inspires within me such dread, that even to observe it as a fan that enjoys all aspects of the story (even if I do enjoy one side a bit more than the others), everything I look at and I mean everything is doing poorly and lacks the proper love and care that Warcraft deserves.
Much in the way that I enjoyed Warhammer fantasy, prior to the Age of Sigmar. It feels like familiar footing and I think that’s what’s worse.
WoW having more crap writing?
That is a fair summation of the problems we are currently facing narratively. I did not intend to imply that the Forsaken and the Horde are the only groups currently facing horrible writing, or that that any specific thing is the entirety of this issue. The current issue within the WoW narrative is large, and encompasses many different things that have become more prominent over time.
My focus on the Forsaken and the Horde are primarily due to their problems being both creating completely during this expansions plot, as well being large enough of issues that they create significant problems on their own. I did not intend to put words in your mouth or anything, and apologize if it seemed that way.
Kerrigan 2.0 is a slap in the face of anyone who has played a game with a coherent plot.
Do you have something to report, $n?
“So Bloodhoof wishes to act in shadow? We must know what he is planning.
Go along with his little task, $n. You are under my protection, so do not worry if you need to get your hands dirty to keep up the ruse.
Just do whatever he asks of you and return to me with your findings.”
Baine Bloodhoof has requested that I help him with a secret task.
Nevermind. <Don’t report Baine’s request.>
Looks like the Horde PC gets another choice.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Sindorei - we may finally be getting those steaks we have been talking about since BC!
I can’t believe this is actually happening
I’m officially supporting Sylvanas in the hopes they delete my character for siding with her.
Silverfoxfang will cleave Anelaan so hard it deletes your account, saving you from spending more money on this game.
The ultimate redemption arc
looks like no executions will be happening
