80% Dragonriding in old world

Probably easier than building a whole new system from the ground up. Likely a few lines of coding if anything.

But can we DF around Azuremyst, and Silvermoon?

pleeeeeese?

I would love for my Obsidian Worldbreaker (and of course my Azure Worldchiller) to Dragonride. Hope itā€™s something just not present in the current build, and not something I have to wait for 11.0 for.

Yeah this is a foolish decision by the developers.

Itā€™s going to feel sluggish and slow by comparison.

There is no such thing as Silvermoon. Inset Avatar Ba Sing Se reference here.

I mean, I get it. I get why they do a lot of what they do when it comes to server stability and such. Just gets lame sometimes.

But what Iā€™m truly mad at is sharding.

I also meant bad as in lame for playability, not bad as in likeā€¦ itā€™s a dumb reason.

Please explain how 80% of 830% is 166%, and then how 166% is somehow 16% faster than 310%.

i dont think so while we can not mine while mounted in the old zones
but the tbc players will be nerfed a bit on the node farming

As much as I regret saying it, Yoshi P would be forward about that kind of decision. Blizzard is still on their horse of hiding the whyā€™s from us regardless of promising to do different.

You reduced by 80%, not to 80%.

I mean the zones in the old world are horrendously small compared to the Dragon Isle zones. This much isnā€™t false. You could get across 1/4 - 1/2 of the zone with a single whirling surge so you donā€™t really need the full 830% move speed to make the dopamine go brrt

But do you know the wayā€¦?

If one takes these two images into account and consider how quickly we traverse on the Dragon Isles ā€¦ I can see why they are limiting it. Doesnā€™t mean I agree with it, butā€¦ safe to say that thereā€™s a very, VERY reasonable explanation they are providing regardless of whether one agree with the decision or not.

Edit: I had forgotten this but yahā€™, it would be a way to get around having to say it as well. Doesnā€™t mean one disagrees with it any less with it though.

If theyā€™re nerfing this Iā€™m legitimately convinced that itā€™s a technical issue (i.e. going too fast and flying into a surface from a Cata zone causes a perpetual DC loop), because this was an issue on the DF Beta with Evokersā€™ Soar ability as well.

Make no mistake; itā€™s a dumb change. But I feel like thereā€™s a technical issue forcing it to happen.

Itā€™s 80% OF maximum speed, not reduced by 80%.

Lets say that max speed of Dynamicflight was 100, 80% is, well 80.

Iā€™m pretty well convinced that the old zones canā€™t handle dragon riding without a massive overhaul that the current crop of WoW developers lacks the ability to do. Iā€™ll be surprised if they do it at all except for the race courses, which is the core reason you have this mini-game in the first place. It boggles my mind that some people can have so much confidence in Blizzard anymore. Enjoy.

The issue isnā€™t that there will be no dopamine or that it wonā€™t still be fast. Their reasoning is that the full speed trivializes travel. But itā€™s already trivialized and will be even more so when dragonriding comes whether itā€™s 80% or 100%.

/sigh, guess we have to be content with ONLY 774% flight instead of 930%.

As an aside maybe it could be a technical issue with loading/rendering terrain in old content.

I know I have loading issues if Iā€™m dragon riding into Zaralak Caverns too fast, it freezes up and isnā€™t rendering fast enough. I blame my computer though.

Yeah they were optimized for normal flying, anything faster than that causes crazy lag for not just the player but others in the immediate area. Itā€™s not the first game thatā€™s done something with faster options added and the areas couldnā€™t handle it. Nothing saying they wonā€™t optimize, but itā€™s a future Blizz problem. Theyā€™d rather have ā€˜help meā€™ tickets than prevent the problem.
