80% Dragonriding in old world

Why Blizzard. Who benefits from this. Someone came to this decision because they thought it would be a good thing, that it would give either Blizzard something or give the players something. So what is it? What does anyone gain from this nerf?

Does players going faster in old outdated content hurt anyone? No.
Does players going faster make them happy to get places faster? Yes.
Does players going faster travel back in time and undo all the hard work put into older content that is already outdated and not played as actively as it was when it was current content? No.
Does players going faster make them appreciate that they can traverse old outdated content faster? Yes.

Why do you guys do this? Seriously. Of all the things that people at Blizzard cook up … this is just really stupid.

This is a made up problem they’re trying to solve here.

Everyone hated it when you guys nerfed Soar into the ground in the old world. So, why are you turning around and doing it to everybody?

Don’t want to make “travel times on old world contents trivially short”. Pfft, nobody tell Blizzard how Aetherytes work in FFXIV.

Monkey paw strikes again…

You wanna dragonride, well you’ll do it as fast as I’ll let you - Jeremy Blizzard 2023.

Actually in fairness, the only reasoning I do see for this is possibly disconnections? Is that still a valid reasoning for anything?

At least you can dragonride, I still can not use my flight form!

Blizzard just can’t have an easy win, can they?

It’s 80% of Dragonriding’s max 830% speed, which is 664%.

I don’t care if it’s still 664%, it makes zero sense.

Can’t have you finishing things too quickly or having killed worthless rares quicker than people who prefer static flying.

Also pretty sure the speed is 80% of 930 (100+830%), so 744% actual speed vs the 430% like you’d get with pally/dk or 420% with guild perk.

its this op
riding abroad
reduces maximum dragonriding speed to 80% of the maximun speed in the dragon isles

If that’s accurate it’s probably because the zones are too friggin small.

Blizz should have known better than to expect their playerbase to know how to do math. Reading is already too hard (as evidenced by this topic).

L IF TRUE - Big L Take. Not Poggers.

To play devils advocate it could be technical issue with the old world and going at 830% a little transparency would be good.

I can accept it if this is a tech limitation, but if it isn’t i question why you would make such a decision it makes no sense who cares if players fly faster through elwyn forest

I bet most people wouldn’t even notice it until it got brought up. That’s still crazy fast for the size of old world zones.

Bald man gonna hear about this.

Oh, it’ll still be pretty fast. They just don’t know when to let sleeping dogs lie. A lot of people aren’t’ going to view the nerf to the speed favorably just because it’s a nerf.
