I really think that totemic has the potential to actually damage the spec instead of improve it.
Totem focused gameplay sounds total crap, unless they actually significantly change how totems work.
But if windfury totem is still a spec talent, this will definitely feel like garbage.

No more than the storm or farseer ones
Huh, yes actually, did you all forget about searing totem?
Totem have always been terrible for gameplay.
If they were part of the rotation.
? They literally said they are working on the HERO talent tree. No words about the class / spec trees.
If you look at the farseer feedback thread, it’s a huge mess of people complaining about the spec/class tree because it’s impossible to judge the Hero tree when the cor emechanics of the class are thatproblematic.

Idk man this feels like you are trying really hard to be upset. So far every class has gotten changes to their spec/general talent trees to go along with the Hero Talents. (Plural, as in all the trees are ready for us to look at.) There is absolutely nothing to suggest ours is going to be different. Im sorry they didn’t spell out exactly every detail they are working on currently. But it feels like a “gotchya” moment. Hitting the forums announcing they didn’t specify exactly this so it must not be happening.
We’re gonna be fine, I promise you. Shamans have existed and found success through previous dark times.
Nothing suggests it appart from the absolutelly lack of any kind of attention got in the last 2 years.
From datamining it say for Enhance that your spells had chance to spawn one for few second for free.
If it spawns passively it’s not as bad but not great.
True but if luck is there you have chance to get multiples down at once. Also the totem casting elemental blast will be good to get free stats
Personally i think totem should just float around you, and cannot be targeted, this would basically solve the issue.
It would also look really cool.
Wouldnt say float but they should teleport every xsec to follow you at least.
Might be nice if they had an animation of moving through or over the earth when you get to the edge of their effective range where they move towards where they would have been positioned as if freshly dropped… of course that’d result in less buttons as we wouldn’t need that repositioning button anymore… hopefully…
Just macro totemic projection into one of your abilities and that’s pretty much what happens.
My main concern for Totemic from the Datamined Data, although anything really can change as it’s not even out yet officially, but strictly going off from what we see now, is the added buttons. When I saw it I was like “Great more keybinds”.
Enhance gets a total of 2 possible 3 so far in PvE,
- Spire Totem, which seems to be on charge system.
- Fire Nova, considering Searing Totems attacks reduce the cooldown of Fire Nova essentially making the talent a must pick.
- Windfury Totem, it says it’s going to have a cooldown and do something interesting when dropped. (Clearly this depends if it’s worth it or not and what it does).
While I do like the general passive side of the talents shown, Lava Lash can spawn Searing Totem, and in general all spells and abilities have a % chance to spawn a Spire Totem passively.
Although I see the point of adding Spire Totem as an additional button to press, making us able to summon Spire Totems on demand to proc its effect when stacked to 3/4 and cast an Elemental Wave is important and gives us control.
Just I think Totemic especially for those that are less dexterous, (yes that includes me ), might be a little too hard to handle. I am expecting like really every class/spec our Talent Trees to be shuffled and adjusted around but we have to wait and see.
But I’m more eager to see what Stormbringer is and brings.
That’s also on theme though is it not? Elementalist has been more mechanically challenging for a different damage profile. Storm is a lot simpler for a separate damage profile. I think having both spectrums for the same spec is incredibly healthy. There will always been the storm and elementalist purists that want what the other side has though.
Being able to swap them around based on arena needs it was amazing for me in DF S1. And in my opinion, that is what is needed to play Enhance into higher brackets. Which I think is really cool and unique that others don’t have those options. But the other side of the argument is its insane to have to get that much gear and builds while no one else has to. I’m for it though.
Having 2 complete sets of gear and 2 separate builds was really fun.

I agree 1000%, honestly it’s particularly why I’m more eager to see what Stormbringer brings, I think both playstyles should have a home.
For me to even consider playing totemic they will need to update the visuals on Tauren totems. And I really would hope that a stacking totem will also have a sick visual like a totem pole. That could be cool.
Shaman always have been the class Blizzard forgets about. I did not hear about SOD until few days ago and missed the bus on shaman. In the past and most expansions shamans would mainly get scraps.
New alpha build, zero shaman notes.
But lots of additional notes for Ret paladins!
