8.2 Mount Equipment and Water Strider

You don’t get it at all. If you don’t like the bug, don’t use it. You aren’t forced to do anything.

For those who don’t want to be forced to use an ugly bug mount for water walking* fixed that for ya.

It’s also that Blizzard doesn’t want people to be forced to use an ugly bug mount for water walking.

It’s a 2 in one. That and primarily not forcing people to only have ONE water walking mount that’s ugly they have to use if they want to use WWing. I don’t understand what’s so hard to grasp about this concept…

If you want a mount that passively has water walking, yes you are.

Straw man argument, you’re comparing carrying tons of potions in your bag. Dismount, drink a potion, re-mount, walk over water to mount up, walk over water. You’re wrong and your point is flawed.

Which is what people SHOULD be complaining about. “Add more mounts with water walking” or “have mount equipment be unique to each mount” instead of “WAH! GIVE ME WATER WALKING AND ALL THE MOUNT EQUIPMENT!”

I’ve read all these threads pretty thoroughly, and I don’t recall anyone using that argument.

All we have asked for is to leave the strider alone, and make it exempt from mount equipment, just like they’re doing with the sky golem.

And yes – more water walking mounts would have been a good thing. I agree.

And yes – mount equipment should have been mount-specific, not character-specific. I agree there, too.

But they just wanted to kill the bug. So that’s what we get instead. Anyone who thinks this change is about giving players more choice has been suckered.

Problem solved.
You have always been able to water walk on ANY mount you little heart desires.
And this is not the only elixir to allow that. Wrath has one too.
So use your elixer and equipment on whatever mount you want.
But leave my water strider alone.

Individual mount tokens or more mounts with these tokenable abilities inherent has been suggested.

Telling worried people to quiet down only works if you actually address what they are worried about.

Dear "like it or leave"rs, you know loss of subs ultimately hurts the game and should not be suggested. You really want people to stick around. So I would like your thoughts:

Please suggest a plan that includes all of the below:

  1. waterwalk on things other than striders,
  2. avoids the loss of already earned items to some players
  3. avoids replacing the currently “required” waterwalk skill with anti-daze or slowfall or something as the skill you feel required to use.
  4. doesn’t devalue every expansion for a functionally identical thematically named replacement.

One more thing blizzard is removing in the guise of giving you something better which is total BS.

This is just an excuse to make the game slower thereby the customer having to play more hours for less actual content.

Plus this equipment won’t even work in the next expansion. Everyone will have to jump through hoops to get the “newer” equipment.

BUT the main POINT is that I earned the rep for the ability to buy the water strider in current content. It is mine and I want it left alone.

And the water strider on the PTR with water walking equipment on doesn’t work the same way the water strider works on live.

Just another BS decision by blizzard to keep you playing longer so they get their hours to report.

Sounds like a good change to me, to be no longer tied to a single mount. Or a pair, if you count the WoD one.

Next?

You and the OP have literally said this many times over; “we’ll use the new mount eq system, and leave the strider alone!”

Hm…

Says the guy who wants mount equipment to be per mount instead of toon based.

If you are so worried that people would have some unknown type of “competitive” advantage if the water walking mount keeps it’s ability, then shouldn’t you be against mount equipment being mount bound? This would surely give people who can afford mount equipment a competitive advantage over those who cannot.

Of coure, I have never understood the competitive advantage argument. I really don’t care if people reach a quest mob before me. Mobs spawn very quickly these days and everyone can tag it. This seems to be some weird made up argument meant to distract people.

I am sure that people complained about this in MOP, WOD, Legion, yet Blizzard never gave them one. Why is that?

Sorry, you’re wrong. I, and many others here, have repeatedly asked for the strider to keep its ability and to be exempt from mount equipment.

I have never asked for the strider to keep its ability AND use mount equipment. Not once.

Wait you’re saying people didn’t have a choice to get the ww mount? That they were forced to get it because of rep? What?

No one forced the mount on me I wanted it for fishing along with the raft.

And nobody is forcing anyone to use the Water Strider. Once again, there is already options available in game to water walk on mounts without having to be a DK or Shaman or using the Water Strider.

And if you find the Water Strider ugly, don’t use it. I find the Alliance bike ugly, doesn’t mean I have to use it.

Nope. The goal is to strip innate water walking out of as many grubby little hands as possible, without looking like that’s the intent.

I mean, seriously. Considering innate class abilities and the logical ‘Best in Slot’ choice combinations:

WATER WALKING is BiS for Paladins only.

SLOW FALL is BiS for Death Knights only.

SPEED is BiS for Warrior, DH, Monk Tanks. Warlocks with [Demon Skin]. Anyone with the “Resounding Protection” Azerite trait or sufficiently skilled at avoiding daze/dismount while travelling.

NOTHING is BiS for druids unless they use mounts instead of travel form (iirc).

NO DAZE is BiS for everyone else.

Blizzard left us the freedom to choose sub-optimal mount equipment for our characters, knowing that serious players will quickly switch to BiS equipment, and casuals will eventually follow along.

And when this blows over, they’ll find a way to finish killing water walking, when all that’s left to complain about it are paladins and a few rando’s that still cling to it.

So stupid to have an elixir that ‘survives death’ but doesn’t survive one hit.

Should be changed to: “Grants the “Grace of the Water Elementals” buff for one hour. Survives death. Refreshes your water walking buff every 20 seconds or refreshes it immediately when you mount up.”

Yeah, also known as having a mount with water walking AND being able to use mount equipment for something else… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

No. The Sky Golem can’t use Mount Equipment. This is what is being requested for the Water Strider.

To be left alone, and to be excluded from the Mount Equipment system.

I’m waiting for Blizzard to nerf the elixir next.

And the Water Walking abilities DK/Shamans to be pruned. :sob:

All for the sake of competitiveness because of the pathfinder. Hey,Blizzard after could we have our water stride ability back ?

Which is literally completely negating the whole reason mount equipment was made… How is that hard to understand? It would still force people to use ONE mount for water walking.

A better suggestion is to just have each mount be able to use a piece of mount equipment so people who are crying so hard about water striders can have water walking on them.

I stand by my statement. Not every play-style is your playstyle. The sooner we all respect each other’s method of playing the game, the better.

For a player with that play-style, there is no going without the mount.

For a player with my play-style, the viability of the world that they built takes a hit when WW is removed from the Water Strider.

Both sides of the coin have points, if you can but step into their shoes. That doesn’t mean you have to agree, but we should all strive to at least understand. Don’t you think? Makes for a better conversation. Opens space for compromise in the discussion.
