8.2 Mount Equipment and Water Strider

Still feel this whole thing could be fixed by making the equipment per mount rather than one per character.

It increases sales of player made items

Water strider can still water stride.

Use of multiple mounts will increase.

Makes more logical sense that a piece of equipment would attach to one mount at a time

This is your lucky day - equip the water walking mount equipment (which you get FREE because you have the strider) and bingo, all of your dreams are true! You can continue to use the water strider - in exactly the same way - as you do now.

Why complain about - no change - I don’t even get it.

That sounds good and plus it’ll help the economy .

So, you agree that the water strider should be stripped of its water walking passive for something which isn’t really bringing anything to the game?

I guess that is because you only want to see the Water Strider.

I play on Thrall, and I do not see the Water Strider all that often. Actually, it isn’t something that I am commonly seeing.

So what? If you don’t like it move to a different realm… I see them less than 5% of the time in zul’jin.

No change? Your going to put up with everyone being 20% faster than you, just so you can have water walking? Riiiiiight.

ETA: oh right, you’re a paladin, the only class that will want water walking equipment. yay 4 u.

Basically your sacrificing your flexibility. This system demands you choose one at a time no matter the situation.
If you want what you already had you have to sacrifice the use of everything else the system can do. Basically we are getting punished for wanting our water walking available 24/7 like we have now. So this system does not benefit us, it only dangle cheese over our heads and says HAHA.

Not only that but there is the very real and present danger of Blizzard scrapping the system and not returning the water striding abilities.

I don’t have one of these mounts, so I don’t have a dog in this hunt. This is a BS decision, people worked (in the context of playing a game) to get these mounts, with this specific ability as the driving force, and they should not be losing what they worked for.

How are those Legion artifacts working for you these days?

Legion Artifacts are an Expansion Feature.

Water Striders are not.

Slipping back to stage 2 on Kubler-Ross. Pity, we were almost at “Acceptance”.

You mean, the eq being introduced in 8.2 won’t work in 9.0? Possibly, and I wouldn’t be surprised, not would it be a bad thing. Just like how gems are discarded every expansion, professions would get new versions with the same effect.

You mean those things everyone got simply for doing storyline content and had to do absolutely nothing outside that to receive? Those things? Dude, that’s not even a decent strawman, let alone a relevant comparison.

They could have opted to do the same thing they did for SKy Golem - water strider doesn’t get mount equip, but has water walking. However, if you go and actually read what they wrote about, they are concerned only because it is so vastly overused. They have the data, it’s not subjective like you and I, they said flat out it is vastly overused and needed to be scaled back.

It’s not a good thing for the game for one mount to be so overwhelmingly used. I ran around doing World Quests again today in Zandalar and I saw only people on water striders - not a single other mount was to be seen. Why? Because the zone design is extremely annoying to use a non-water walking mount on. Who the hell is ok with swimming on a mount at super slow speed while the dense set of mobs is gonna come at ya? Makes no sense to use anything else.

My experience is different but also, Bliz said the data supports what I’m seeing. So I’d venture to say this: if you aren’t then it’s due to your view of the world, not the actual data.

Sorry you are just wrong. Go read the Bliz post again, they said it is vastly overused - to a level unseen on any other mount, ever, in the game, and it needed to be scaled back.

And I feel bad for the mental state of layers on Zul’Jin if they are running around Nazmir on a non water walking mount - that’s … well… that’s insane.

The amount of people upset by this change are trying to push an agenda - use the mount equip and you lose nothing - so stop trying to enforce your weird slant on the world on to others - I, and MANY others - want to have water walking on my other mounts.

Excuses, excuses.

Once again, must be only you, and you wanting to see them. Because I don’t see the water strider all the time.

Once again, I highly doubt that the data tells that 90% of everyone is using the water strider at once. So that claim is nothing.

Your level 11, you can’t even use a mount yet. Just wait until you grow up a bit so you can have a real discussion.

I guess I can end this discussion with: I’m getting exactly what I want. I’m sorry if that upsets you, but I rejoice in this change. Bliz is doing it right - they just need to also nerf sky golem and I’d be even happier.

And Bliz is getting what they want - I’m now going to actually farm for mounts for the first time in over 6 years. And I expect to be selling mount equipments too, which is a win as well.

Lol, assuming this is the only toon I own?

And even if this was the only toon I owned, I still have every right to voice my opinion about the strider being nerfed for no good reason at all.

Lol, so, please do tell me how much Blizzard pays you to kiss there ### for them?

So, just because you see people using the Water Strider, it actually stops you from farming mounts?

Also, if you don’t want to use the Water Strider, maybe use this:

Because the strider had water walking, and never is it preferable to not have water walking, there was literally no reason to ever farm another mount. That’s been true for over 6 years and I’ve played the game w/o even buying the rep mounts I earned…

Until now, Bliz is finally fixing this… it’s a good thing indeed!

0/10 Troll harder please.

Nah, I’m speaking truth and you are sticking your head under water… I bet it’s because you forgot to use your water strider in Nazmir. Meanwhile that’s me zipping by you at full speed, with mobs on my tail who won’t get me… but they will get you… enjoy!

You lost this argument and I think I’m done trying to have a discussion. You are basically the guy on the corner with “The End is Neigh!” So have fun preaching to yourself.

Makes as much sense as “This wall is too, uhhhh… blue it’s too blue. We needed to tear it down because it was too blue.”

ALL BLIZZARD HAD TO DO was give water striders a 5% movement speed debuff on land. People would stop using it as a land mount in a heartbeat and use it only for crossing water.

ALL BLIZZARD HAD TO DO was give other water-oriented mounts water walking or ‘fast swim at the surface’ abilities to give people some diversity.

ALL BLIZZARD HAD TO DO was add a character specific Flying Training level that let flying mounts ‘hover’ over water at full ground-run speed.

The proper method to retire rewards in WoW is to obsolete them by letting us earn something better. This change fails to do that spectacularly.
