8.2 Mount Equipment and Water Strider

I’ve always kind of eye-rolled at the OMG DAZED arguments over the years. Stop running through packs of stuff. :man_shrugging:

Slow-fall is covered, as my main here is an engineer and the alts have a stack of gliders.

And expensive? Have they released details on the costs and sources yet? I do not pay much attention to the PTR.

Nobody is asking for that. And it’s 2 mounts, not one. (Crimson and Azure water strider).

No mount equipment benefit for them… just make them exempt like the sky golem. Without the SPEED or NO-DAZE equipment, people would -only- use water strider mounts to cross water, and then switch back.

Or they could use the angler’s raft.

Or a water walking potion.

There’s no argument for getting rid of water walking on striders that makes any sense other than “Blizzard is too lazy and stupid to figure out how to do what they did with the Sky Golem again for 2 more mounts.”

Oh, easy to predict 9.0:

Due to people finding ways to not use the Mount Equipment system we have added in patch 8.2, we have decided to take the following actions:

  • Goblin Glider Kit now unusable, and turned into something that can vendor for 25 silver
  • Shamans/DK’s loses there Water Walking Abilities
  • Priest/Mage loses there slowfall abilities.

Oh, it is very possible to see how the future will come to be, since Blizzard has been proving themselves with removing a lot of stuff.

Water walking is covered one of my alts have alchemy and I have a stack of water walking potions in their bag.

Speed boost is covered, I played the game and got pathfinder pt1.

Anti daze is covered I have a alt that’s a leatherworker and have stacks of bardings in my bags.

What was mount equipment needed for again? I forget. Oh I remember now It’s to kill the water strider.

No swim mount was affected by the change nor flying.
Fly mounts still fly
Swim mounts still swim
And now all ground mounts are equal.

And ya they could add ways to summon an auctioner or vendor. Unlikely that it would be cheap.

You are entitled because “I DEMAND IT AND THATS IT NO FUN OTHERWISE” not because of mounts functions.

Btw all mounts can now walk on water.
Worth repeating it here.

No mount is affected by the mount equipment except the Water Strider.
Why should they all be special and keep the innate ability?
Why not make all mounts equal?
I’m entitled because i want to keep something I earned?

BTW all mounts have been able to walk on water since BC.
Worth repeating it here

Pretty accurate summation, I’d say.

They have already increased the dazing that mobs do, as well as the aggro distance. There was a time when roads were safe, now you can’t even count on that. I’ve been leveling a toon and the increased dazing is very annoying.

I have looked up the items needed to make the equipment. All of them require two professions to make and all of them require mats from the new zones, and if you have ever farmed cloth in BFA, you’d know it doesn’t drop much :frowning:

The anti-daze equipment requires 25 pieces of Gilded Seaweave along with Embroidered Deep Sea Satin.

Tailors will also want to craft 415, 425, 440 gear. 440 gear will take 100+ Gilded Seaweave cloth, depending on the piece. So those who want 440 gear will be hoarding cloth so they can make the gear.

This will cause the anti-daze equipment to be expensive to buy.

You still haven’t presented anything remotely like a compelling argument for why that “Should” be.

DK/Shaman have exclusivity, their abilities work even without mounts. DONE.

Triggered/Overuse? ENABLE WATER WALKING ON A FEW MORE SPECIAL MOUNTS. Trivial.

You have a vague feeling they should change? Great! But that doesn’t mean that they ‘should’. “Should” implies logic and reason justify it… not wishy washy feelings.

And you’re coming up pretty empty on the logic and reasoning side of this argument.

And worth repeating… until blizzard decides to change out the mount equipment and then no mounts will walk on water. That’s what happens why you take something away and bring in a consumable.

Correction:

All Swim mounts are unaffected

All Flying mounts while flying are unaffected

All Water Walking mounts are deader than a doornail.

All Ground mounts (flying mounts on the ground) can be FASTER.

There are no toys or consumables that makes mounted speed faster (engineering sorta has one, but it’s feeble, costly, and lasts only seconds, and has a daze component if over-used)

No-daze, water walking and slow-fall all have consumable alternatives.

The only logical choice for mount equipment for MOST players in the game will be SPEED SPEED SPEED nothing but SPEED.

So, ultimately, “water walking on all mounts” is only going to a thing for players too poor to get better equipment.

And blizzard likes that just fine because it’ll encourage people to buy wow tokens so they can get better mount equipment.

Because only the strider was different on ground functions, you had mounts with extra seats or transmogfer but those were much more expensive, water strider? nop pretty cheap.
And you are keeping stuff you earned because only people with anlger rep can get the equipment. But now you can use those on all mounts.

If you think all mounts could walk on water since BC then no big deal for you eh? Pretty much you now stated water strider was never unique. lmao
Mad arent you?
Nice report.

Sounds like something someone who didn’t earn them the hard way would say.

I got them because I didn’t want to waste bag space on water walking potions.

And look… here we are again, back to water walking potions. Yaaaaay.

What next? Sylvannas will burn our garrisons down to keep her feet warm?

Here’s what I truly do not understand:

Those of us who are protesting the change to the water strider are perfectly fine with adding mount equipment, just don’t nerf the strider. This does not hurt anyone, in any way.

Those of you who are in favor of the change to the water strider are advocating that we lose something. You want mount equipment, and you want us to lose what we worked for.

Our stance is a win/win. Yours is a win/lose.

How is this fair?

I know all mounts have been able to walk on water since BC because water walking potions have been in the game at least since then. I Never once said the water strider was unique, because all mounts have been able to walk on water since at least BC.

The water strider was a perk for putting int he work farming up the rep and spending gold to get it. Which has been and is still available for anyone to do.

My time is not cheap to me, I value the time and effort I put into something unlike blizzard since they do not value my time or effort. it’s Just as valuable as the gold I spent getting my mount with extra seats and transmog and repair mounts.

And not mad, just disappointed that Blizzard holds me and my time in such contempt. No wonder I’m thinking about unsubing for the first time since 2005. But who cares? I know Blizzard doesn’t.

People who feel like they’re winning generally argue against fairness because they fear it’ll cost them something.

It’s one of the ugly aspects of human nature that generally ends up ruining everything.

The price is pretty cheap.
Potions alsos lasts one minute only, it the equivalent of saying that there isn’t difference between having an auctioner on your mount because you can simply use AH on capital cities.
Our garrisons are pretty meh too.

Water walking potions lasts one minute.
So there should be no auctioner on mounts because you can always go to a capital and no flying is needed because hey you can always use the whislte!
Nonsense argument.

Now the mount is equivalent to other mounts and you still need rep to buy both strider and equipment.
So basically you still maintian your perk.
Btw your perk can be obtained with 10 chars buying the token rep when timewalk hits and sending it to your main. Soo much effort. Your time seems cheap you ltierally wasted hours on a thing that can be done in a day lol.

That ‘cheap price’ included hours of tedium that I deliberately endured rather than doing things that were more fun, because I wanted the reward.

It did not feel cheap at the time, nor has time made it seem any less.

Potions or mounts, doesn’t matter, it only lasts until you get hit by something anyway. The only major difference is one consumes bag space and time to re-stock… the other doesn’t.

You can use timewalk events to farm badges(500 badges on first quest) on several chars then use all of them to get rep tokens sending you to revered/exalted(depending on what you are).
New equipment makes you immune to daze too.
