Doesn’t matter what mental gymnastics you wanna do, the truth is that you have an infite number of mounts that can do the same thing now and thats diversity.

I’m guessing you never earned either of the water striders?

How would you feel if, in addition to stripping the striders’ special abilities away, they also took away DK’s water walking ability? I bet I know the answer to that.

I honestly hope this change kills the mount, we have seen enough of it, for real.

I have seen enough of the repair mount, maybe they should get rid of that one.

And what about those people who proudly ride on those rare mounts! I don’t want to see them because they remind me that I haven’t gotten them. Blizzard should get rid of those for sure.

And horses! all I ever see are alliance people riding horses! Get rid of those mounts!

Don’t forget that Sky Golem! The noise it makes when I am out enjoying nature! It disturbs my tranquility! And it flies weird! Let’s get rid of that.

Oh yeah, druids! They have instant flight, travel form that allows 2 people to ride, and that potato look when they are in the water! They should go too!

And finally that creepy spider! It creeps me out and makes my skin crawl when it comes up on me! Time to get rid of that mount too!

Perhaps the solution is just to get rid of all mounts so that no one is offended by them! Solution to the whole problem.

So you basically want a single mount to obtain an advantage over all others because reasons. Instead of all of them being able to do the same thing and still be versatile?

You don’t lose anything with the change, if you want to keep the upgrade and keep using the strider go for it. As a matter of fact you can do this on all your mounts now.

No I want it exempt from mount equipment and not be able to use any mount equipment. I’ll repeat I don’t want it to be able to use mount equipment at all. Add in all the mount equipment you want, make every mount be able to fly, swim, be a ghost, walk on walls, walk up mountains do loops, fly upside down, I don’t care. Just DO NOT let the water strider be able to use any of it and leave it’s ability alone.

See, I agree with that. The MoP bug should have been retired…or at least confined to MoP-only zones, upon the release of WoD. This is where Blizzard dropped the ball, by not fixing a lax system sooner.

Every mount, reguardless of class, can water walk now. So, what is the argument here?

Then every mount with any thing special, the repair, the herb picking, the auction, the transmog, the ability to fly and swim need to be taken away and added in as mount equipment. So no one will be entitled.

It probably could have. But that is a mount with a lot of profession mats needed and is something people make money off of, still. That’s a bigger hill for the devs to climb, as opposed to retiring something that is just the product of 3 weeks of derping around fishing for rep.

Buuut buut but I had to work and farm and use cooldown’s for a month and spend gold to get that mount, it won’t be fair if they take that from me. See:

The illusion of diversity you mean.

Because it’s ALL mounts or NO mounts.

To have this “diversity” of water walking mounts, you have to:

Reject the new SPEED bonus (speed is usually the MOST desirable trait for mounted travel, to all except DK’s and Paladins who already have a good mounted speed bonus)

AND Reject NO-DAZE (which is in high demand for most non-tank specs)

AND reject slow-fall, (which, honestly, probably won’t be wanted by anyone except DK’s who already have speed + no-daze + water walking.)

Until 9.0, when those features will likely be removed.

This is a point people need to consider. By turning things into consumables it is easy for them to remove them. They have already trained us into expecting that.

As for DKs, Paladins, Shamen, It would not surprise me to see a nerf in progress… after all, they now have mount equipment and it wouldn’t be “fair” if they kept those abilities.

We have already seen nerfs in racial passives (Arcane Torrent is the biggest one that comes to mind) in order to “fix” a problem that wasn’t a problem to begin with.

Because it is better than what it is replacing, despite a handful of tantrums.

Why do you consider people who wish to preserve something they earned as having “tantrums”? I have not seen any childish comments from the pro-strider side. I have however seen childish comments on the anti-strider side.

next expansion they will remove mount equipment all together and we will have nothing.

They will keep mount equipment for at least another xpac. What they will do is change the abilities out so that they could squash any protests about losing those abilities. Players have very short memories and often get facinated when a shiney is put in front of them.

I plan to put my free pair of WW Shoes into the slow and probably never swap it out.

Until you run into the increased dazing or places you need to get to and can only use the slow-fall. Of course these items will be very expensive, so the majority of players will probably not even use them at all.

And? Without the MoP Rep Tokens from the Timewalking vendor during MoP Timewalking event, it is still a grind everyday for the reputation for the Anglers to get the Water Strider.

Back in MOP, it took longer than 3 weeks, and for those of us who had not learned the art of farming gold, it was expensive.
