Well said. It’s easy to dismiss criticisms of the system as “elitist players crying about other people getting gear” but that’s not it at all.

I don’t want to raid to get decent ilvl gear to PvP, so M+ and forging gives decent alternatives for ilvl. In an ideal world, we’d have vendors for PvP gear that is better in PvP than PvE gear but we don’t. So we have to deal with the mediocre TF/WF system until they revert back to systems that have worked for years.

I’d rather not go back to the days where raiders completely stomped everyone in their PvE gear, thanks.

What are you talking about? That already happens all the time. Multiple bosses drop pieces for the same slots which means you could already have bosses that drop pieces that you may not need.

Edit: Plus how does that change that you may still want to kill that boss to progress to the other bosses to get stuff you may want?

When was the BiS grind ever finished? Have you ever been at a point where you could say “whew I got the best of everything and now I can take a week break before the next teir/xpac comes out”?

How about I rephrase. When you get to the FIRST boss that drops a pair of pants in a tier you shouldn’t be able to go “yeah I don’t want that”. Yes, when you get to Stormwall and have like 5 reclears under your belt, that is fine to not get upgrades since chances are those slots are filled with OTHER Mythic pieces. We are at week what? 3? 4? Of Mythic? I don’t remember of the top of my head. Shouldn’t be getting to like the 3rd boss and having people say “I don’t get anything”.

Also, in response to your edit that is what a bench is for. YOU do not have to kill that boss. The guild does. A raid roster of 24-ish people (average) has a bench where you just bench people that aren’t useful on that fight or simply do not get loot from it. People shouldn’t be self benching themselves for early bosses in a tier. Like I honestly don’t get THAT much off JFM that is a worthwhile upgrade since my weapon is arguably better, but since I am using a dagger, I wouldn’t be able to trade the staff anyway if I got it.

s on a harder difficulty? You shouldn’t be able to progress to a boss without ever pulling it and go…yeah I don’t need anything off this loot table. It shouldn’t happen. A pair of 420 pants is ONLY going to ever be replaced by another forge. That is a flawed system. Forging is “fine” in moderation. I cannot for the life of me ever think of an argument for anything EVER forging past +15. And even then I think +10 should be the cap so that an item from the next difficulty is ALWAYS an upgrade.

This is a huge issue. With all the 400s dropping and 385s all over the place, once you include TF/WF, my casual Heroic group that usually spends the first few weeks on Normal have no reason to be there. In fact, when we get to Heroic, most of the gear isn’t needed there either. Should a group that doesn’t desire to do mythic (or have the numbers) recruit for mythic because gear progression is screwed up?

I’m sure someone will say this is me being a special snowflake or something though.
