I can sympathize with this, being a completionist-collector at heart ( even though my playstyle meant that I was never going to be mount-completionist, somewhere deep down I still clung to “in-game complete” as a goal until BfA when things started spiraling out of control )

I’m really glad that a Dev responded my thread, collecting mounts is like my main thing in this game.
Now the rest of the Meta Achievements need to be brought up to speed.
- Individual transmog slot thresholds
- Transmog set collection thresholds
- Honor kill thresholds
- Quests completed thresholds
- Exalted Reputation thresholds
etc!

I’d love to see some new rewards from the honor prestige system, few players have the 500 honor level, if Devs add more frequent rewards or something there…I don’t like that system on which you don’t see anything for 100+ levels.

I’m glad to see that they’ve changed the Yeti based on feedback. That’s a pretty underwhelming choice for such an accomplishment. I’m nowhere near 500 mounts, may never get there, but I can imagine how it’d feel to have a Yeti as the 500 mount achievement. I think the one that was free at Christmas years back looks better than this iteration. Good decision.

I think that was their intent the whole time they’re just horrible at communicating.
I cant believe after all the hate for reskins blizzard gets they go with a lame yeti for the achievement, glad they are changing it, better be something that can fly and not a terrible colored reskin

Some Heirloom riding equipment instead of a mount would be cool. New equipment that lets non flying mounts fly on “Feather Horse Shoes”.
“Equestrian SCUBA Gear” Which lets you breathe under water on a underwater mount. I am sure there are more ideas like these instead of another mount.

I’m one of the people who has way over 500 mounts and will get this the day it releases. I agree with the sentiments expressed here that it is really sad as someone who cares about mount collecting–supposedly the target audience for these achievements–to always get these immediately and not have any mount goal to strive toward that I haven’t just created for myself.
If the overall mount total involves too many promotional/discontinued mounts to make higher number achievements, maybe they could consider starting to add more granular achievements, like “Collect X mounts from Legion” or “Collect X mounts from a raid instance.” Whatever level of specificity that could put newer players on an even playing field but also allow a more interesting and thorough challenge for collectors. Those achievements still would be easily met by some, but I think they’d challenge a wider audience.
Just food for thought I suppose.

As I think I mentioned here, they should just add a FoS for mount thresholds above the currently collectable. Have those FoS get dates when a player earns them. And when blizz deems okay to put into the regular population, they add the mount with the postmarked achievement date for the collector.
Also they should just change mount counts to the entire account. None of this character can use definition.

My god that mount is so ugly. I mean, it’s a fine mount for a Winter Event or something, maybe a creature you’d find in the snowy mountains. It’s a decent model and what not don’t get me wrong, but for the 500 mount achievement… no.
This mount needs to be absolutely unique, one of a kind, nothing like it, and epic… no, legendary.
