There has been a lot of discussion on the achievements forum, reddit, twitch, etc for quite some time about the lack of mount collection achieves in the game. To hopefully gain some more visibility here’s a link to a long post with lots of feedback.
Just to highlight some ideas:
450 - green/fel version of grove defiler
500 - spectral shackled urzul
550 - red version of brutosaur (without vendors)
600 - white/black striped zulian tiger
650 - red glacial tidestorm
700 - icy/blue ashes of alar
and if they want a unique mount that fits the collection theme - a chariot pulled by 4 of your favorite mounts (even better, with the option to pick which 4 mounts)
Other reward options could be things like:
20% mount speed increase in world content
access to an island with your mounts on it. similar to a small garrison
access to a vendor that sells previous expansion bonus rolls for low amounts of gold
And to put the lack of achieves in scope:
As of this posting, the top mount collector has 746 character mounts. There are 948 total mounts, with 905 still being obtainable. The last achievement was for 400. Rather than focus on the top player, we can see that the rank ~42,000 character in mount collections has 400. All info from dataforazeroth website.
The achieves are long overdue and the complete lack of communication on this is disappointing.

if you have 550 mounts… Do the vendors matter at that point. lol. Odds are you have the original.

might as well add some for 750 and 800 too … wish i was there personally… but it’s something to strive for anyway.

I have 603 mounts and I don’t have Longboi. Got it for my husband but not myself. I took over his account when he quit but I couldn’t stand logging into two bnets.
All I have to do is scrape together 10mil right?? /cries in a corner

Longboi is gated behind a lot of money I have never ever came close to having.
the vast majority of mounts in the game don’t need money to get. (though buying many helps)

I think 800 is too much right now, even in Dragonflight.
Like I pointed out in the thread from the achievement forum, you can almost hit 700 now without spending a dime or worrying about mounts removed from the game. By the time Dragonflight rolls around, 700 won’t be too hard for the serious collectors out there. I know of someone that’s already done it.

Good point about the DF mounts coming too. Not sure what the right number is for max achieve but hope it’s at least somewhat modernized

There is no need for more collect 500+ mount achievements if anything they should go up to 500 and then stop with some overwhelming high number that feels unobtainable.
If collectors need achievements for stockpiling mounts then the ideal way would be to introduce more Awake the Drakes style achievements that break collecting down into smaller more obtainable individual achievements which still awards collectors with a new mount.

If you link the accounts together I know you get access to pets, mounts and heirlooms. Might get the Longboi on both accounts that way.

Following your logic, the developers should remove the achievements for obtaining 100 exalted reputations or reaching Honor level 250. Those too may feel overwhelming or unobtainable to newer players. They can certainly add more smaller achievements like Awake the Drakes, but those of us who have been collecting mounts for a long time should also get achievements that we can strive towards. The last two expansions have brought a record number of mounts. The mount achievements should stay current and the highest count one could ask for up to 700 mounts.

I’ve been told two different things (can and can’t.)
That’s a hard one for me because my husband might come back one day, maybe after Microsoft takes over, or he might not.
It’s something I definitely considered.
Blizzard’s lack of interest in achievements for collecting played a role in me no longer caring about my collections, why should i bother striving for higher and higher numbers through increasingly convoluted methods of acquisition if there’s no achievement/reward?
In the past i just collected for fun, but i just don’t find the current grinds any fun at all so i no longer bother

I’m sure you CAN.
But wayyyy back when Battlenet changed, I had to contact Blizzard about something (totally forget what, long time ago) and they basically pressured me into merging the two SEPARATE accounts that I had. I didn’t really understand the difference or what the long term outcome would be… just didn’t seem like a big deal to me and they kept making me feel like I HAD TO DO IT.
Basically, as soon as I did it, I wish I didn’t. And I pay for those accounts with MY MONEY … I don’t understand why they pressured me into thinking I HAD to merge them. It’s not like it’s against the TOS or anything to have 2 different accounts.
But the point here is that once you do it… you CANNOT undue it! For that reason alone, I would hold off as long as possible.
I’ve heard that if you KNOW someone at Blizzard, you can get the two accounts separated (because as I said: who cares???). But without that, they flat-out refuse.
Keep them separate, as long as you can.

I think I know what you’re referring to and I believe our situations are different.
Sounds like they pressured you to put your two WoW licenses under one bnet. They did that to everyone.
What I’m talking about is making two bnets into one. They both now have my name on it (because you can change the first name on your account but not the last) so I would like to think it’s possible but again, I’ve also been told it’s not.

Eh, I don’t care if they don’t add more collection achievements. I’m gonna keep collecting anyway because the collection itself is the reward to me. I don’t need achievements for it as well.

Now that is an amazing idea!
But Alar looks so bad now. Colors are pretty but the model could really use an update.
