I’m glad OP pointed out exactly why this kind of change is terrible. All it does is give gear to people who absolutely don’t deserve it because they just aren’t good enough to acquire it on their own. It’s not even relatively hard to acquire gear this expansion either. Bad expansion continually gets worse.
It’s hardly welfare for anybody with more than three characters.
In what world is it elitist to say that more difficult content should give better rewards than less difficult content?
This one. The same exact one that saw the United States of America divide itself.
May I ask why you believe that the hardest content should only give cosmetic rewards?
With loot being handed out like candy (like it is now), item level means nothing and the side effect of that is stuff like raider io.
I’m 8/9M and have killed tons of bosses in M BoD, yet there are people who haven’t stepped foot into mythic with ilvl equal to me or higher. It really makes my hard work feel invalidated.
Why should you get the best gear if all you do is WQ/Warfront/World bosses/etc, when none of that stuff even requires the best gear? It makes no sense.
I remember playing back in TBC and seeing people in T6/Sunwell gear and thinking “Wow, I want to work hard and hopefully achieve gear like that”. Never did I think “These daily quests should be giving me gear like that”.
This is what Elitists sound like right now to me. I am still angry.
“The casuals are touching similar item level gear and now I am angry!”
Wouldn’t you want to help them?
Cosmetic Rewards to Elitism Mode (The difficulty set proposed earlier in this thread and my post history) would contain all the good stuff. Cosmetics, higher RNG, you know it. Queue would be so people like me can finally shut up and see what it’s like for those difficulties.
Whats sad about the current gear progression is despite all your efforts in mythic BoD you only are wearing 6 items from it out of 15 slots (and 2 are the same wep item).
Just as much gear is from things as easy as a +10.
Reward vs difficulty is beyond hosed.
That would have just totally destroyed most of the remaining heroic and normal raiding guilds.
Then Raiding just ain’t people’s cup of tea these days, ain’t it?
If raiding is being “destroyed”, then it’s not interesting.
If WQ and emissaries gave 320 gear would you still do them?
What if warfronts gave 340?
I don’t see how my question is elitist. I am genuinely curious on why you think you should get the best gear for doing the easiest content. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
In the end, it doesn’t bug me that much, as gear is just a means to an end. But no matter what way you look at it, it’s still kind of a slap in the face to put hours into raiding and coordinating/communicating with 19 others only for the guy who plays mainly solo content to be equal to your ilvl.
I’m not angry, I just recognize that the reward structure is severely screwed up and goes against what it was originally meant to be. I will continue to use tools like raider io and warcraft logs to filter people because of this.
That’s right its not interesting after the first time just like everything else in life. In the past gear was used as an incentive, now that’s no longer true. Personally I don’t care at all about gear anymore as a consequence of the new system. It seems the people clamouring for the welfare epics care more about gear than anyone else in game because if they didn’t they wouldn’t be demanding it so much. Now I’ve moved on and I rp on alts all week long, I just pop into raid for AOTC and that’s it. Outside of raid I don’t log on my main at all.
Then the masses would have no reason to log in.
I’d rather fewer people not log in than more.
That would be very nice especially with arathi being quite out of date already and darkshore pretty much following suit.
Finally! A like given!
I thought it was going to be those stupid circular arguements for a long time.
I actually feel sorry for all my friends that ran mythic + over and over and over for the best gear. Soon they will realise the hamster wheel has sped up into overdrive and not bother too.
I don’t “rely on trivial solo content…to get heroic raid quality gear.” I do the things I like to do because I like to do them. I never asked Blizzard to give me better gear than I need for the content I do. Am I supposed to just vendor the stuff they give me because I didn’t earn it properly?
No – use whatever you want to use. Blizzard shouldn’t be over-rewarding players for trivial content. That’s all.
I definitely agree with this. It’s not that I don’t like getting 400 lvl gear, but it doesn’t feel all that rewarding when I didn’t really do anything to get it. I don’t need it, and it doesn’t make me want to run out and do heroic raids.
What blizzard did was replace ilvl with io. Nobody will take a low io scored person for anything now. I won’t. You’ll be 400 but still stuck doing world quests because you won’t get into that +10 and stuff under it doesn’t give equal ilvl so…grats I guess? I’ll have the popcorn ready for when I’m called a jerk for wanting a good score and rejecting your freshly 400 ilvl butt.
