3-5 Hours of Maintenance Per Week

I’m one of them. My “weekend” is mon/tues

I play more than one game though, so when wow is down, i’m not here having a meltdown because the thing that’s been happening for 20 years is going on.

Isn’t this what the test realms are supposed to be for?
You know for testing the bug fixes before putting them on live servers…

Wat? Why dont we get them. That stuff went out for a solid year every day here when they first added 500MB-1gig plans. Thankfully its much better now.

say you’ve never worked in a tech environment without saying it… You can test everything out the wazoo and everything is perfect…and as soon as you upload it to production, something happens that causes issues. and then add in teh fact, that they are also trying to account/configure for all of our random technology/builds and make it work perfectly…okay yeah. try again.

One more friendly reminder that Blizzard did give 24 hours free game time to active players a couple of weeks ago, which is literally directly proportionate to the amount of extra maintenance since launch.

Again, if you didn’t notice and claim it, that’s on you.

Hey,

You don’t need to get an attitude or be rude with me. You’re the one who is ignorant of what is acceptable uptime for a web service. I’m simply pointing out what the industry standard is for web service hosting. It’s not about needing to get a life. I’m not even trying to play right now. I’m simply pointing out its unacceptable and terrible quality. They had three hours of schedule downtime, and two hours of unscheduled downtime today. When it comes to Service Levels Agreements (SLA) planned or unplanned downtime is equally an outage.

That’s totally fine that you are okay with a 97% uptime. I’m simply pointing out that is abysmally low and if I had a 97% uptime on servers that I managed and routinely was not able to finish my work within the scheduled time, I would lose my job.

Since this question gets asked about once every 6.4 minutes, I’ve prepared you a copy+paste:

  1. Limitations of Liability. To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, Blizzard, its parent, subsidiaries, Licensors and affiliates shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of your use of, or inability to access or use, the Platform or Account(s). Blizzard’s liability shall never exceed the total fees paid by you to Blizzard during the six (6) months prior to your making a claim against Blizzard, unless applicable law explicitly disallows this limitation, in which case Blizzard’s liability shall be limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

This, I couldn’t have said it any better.

That’s why it was in the form of a question Alex.
Regardless, I really don’t care what their problems are, just like they don’t care what issues I have at my JOB!
Some people can’t help being smarmy it seems.

I can agree with that. overestimate the downtime instead of underestimating!

Completely different worlds.

But hey, you get upset over nothing all you like.

personally? i think 2-3 hours at the end of the sub. you kept me from using those hours i should get those hours back. only makes sense. that is what most people mean by compensation i believe.

a normal person has a schedule of when they play so if you play say, like i do, mostly during the timetable of maintenance it means when maintenance happens i miss that day completely. Its fine if its just the regular 1 hour and only once a week but when it is 3-5 hours and lately multiple times a week it would add up to entire days of extra gametime that /should/ end up on the end of the sub if you had a halfway decent company.

A lot of older mmos would do this when they had extra/extended downtime. either that or a apology/thank you for your patience gift in game as some sorta bonus. And almost to a T all those other companies would also communicate what is going on, why it is extended or extra, ei what they are doing and why its needed urgently. Blizzard on the other had just says Extended Maintenance X hours or Tomorrow you are having maintenance. Just letting us know what is happening would go a long way to ease people from being upset to understanding.

Oh no, you can’t play a game for five hours, one day a week, the absolute horror!

ya should go back to how it was in the old days 8+ hours every Tuesday…that would get you all to stop complaining about 3 4 or 5 hours lol

There was a massive internet outage in Toronto/Canada a while back.

They announced they were going to compensate people for it.

I received a $1.00 credit to my account lmao

You’re behavior is the worst of all the people on this thread. You sound like an ignorant angry person in general looking to criticize others.

result!!!

Here we go. People losing their minds over nothing.

Exactly. Tuesdays used to be “No WoW Day.” People got spoiled when they switched to just doing server resets instead of multi-hour maintenance.

I’m not remotely angry. Again, if you are reading anger into this, that’s you projecting.

I can’t control you. :woman_shrugging:

You are still comparing apples to oranges, and your personal attacks won’t detract from that.
