3-3 / 6-0 losing rating then gain 0 rating, why care to play?

For sure, it’s annoying, but there is some potential upside to it as well. Let’s say you are playing at a rating below your actual ability level and unfortunately had a string of bad queues. It happens… Now you’re say 300 MMR below you ability level and 100 CR off as well. Well, potentially, the next few games might be easier wins with you out performing the other people in your matches by that 200-300 ratings worth of ability. You can then ride that win streak up and hopefully build some padding on your MMR.

I talked a lot about this in a few threads I made outlining my fluctuations in MMR as I pushed to 2400 on different toons.

You can see in some spots where I did drop down and then went on those win streaks and my MMR would often over shoot my ability level. Eventually it settles back in, but during nearly all of this, my CR is gradually going up.

It’s good to bare in mind that while you’re pushing up, you’re often being placed with players that are lower than your MMR. Basically 2 out of every 3 matches my MMR would be higher than the groups average.

In the end, stringing together wins is pretty important. If you have a string of losses, you really have to dig yourself out. In the end, more games played is the best approach if you feel you’re being improperly placed or you’re simply having a string of bad matches.
