2H Frost - Vote With Your Wallet

Don’t preorder the expansion. If you have, cancel the preorder. Let them know that they’re biting the hands that feed them. Outside of the month that Classic was released, FFXIV’s subs have been rivaling and/or surpassing WoW’s. They can’t afford to lose players. Let them.

If they don’t value you, why should you value them?

Not saying that I don’t agree with you or that I don’t want 2h frost back, but has Blizz released sub stats?
I thought they’ve been keeping it secret for the last couple of years.

They have. OP is making a claim with incomplete data.

I sat out most of last expansion due to the lack of a 2H Frost DK, I will do the same for this one if need be. I wont even buy the Shadowlands exp until 2H Frost is confirmed. If need be, I will just go back to my Dark Knight in Final Fantasy XIV. I would rather play WoW… But thats up to Bliz.

This is the last time we received information on the topic, short of after Classic’s releases when they received their biggest subscription boom ever.

I’m of the same mind. I have other games I can play if Blizzard wants to make this game unfun.

The account that posted that tweet followed up with a comment about taking the information with a grain of salt. So not really incomplete, but possibly misleading information.

Eesh
From 3.2m to 1.7m, that’s awful.

It was over a year ago though. We don’t really know what subs are at now.

Well, Legion was a popular expansion. BFA? Not so much. But, that’s not data, it’s circumstantial evidence.

I have to admit, the best thing for me to come out of BFA was the fact that we’re finally able to stand up-right.

Same. I’m an orc player at heart.

They also acknowledge that the number they were citing (true or not) wouldn’t have included China’s subs, which are huge. So it’s incomplete data no matter what, and under heavy scrutiny if it’s even true at all. Wowhead even stepped in contesting the number’s accuracy compared to their active users. Can’t really say this number was worth citing, or taking seriously.

I browse WoWHead, even when I’m not subbed. :man_shrugging:

Which is a noted possibility, the claim wasn’t that an active Wowhead user equated a sub, but 11 million unique/active US/EU users to the 3.2m/1.7m subs cited is a huge gap, and seems unlikely. The sub numbers were never verified and are still an unreliably source.

WotLK peaked (until the classic release) at 12 million subs. I think the very fact that WoWhead has 11 million active users proves that you can’t use wowhead as a reliable metric for WoW’s active subscribers.

That’s not what that proves at all, and I don’t care for whatever mental gymnastics you just did to reach that idea. That number is also just from one month.

The point was that there was a large disconnect in the claim and arguably the most popular user site for the game. It’s almost a guarantee that not all US/EU players even use the site. And that the claim was unverifiable and incomplete to begin with, making it a poor citation to use because it can’t be proven. Without verification those numbers are worthless, the Wowhead comparison was just extra reason to doubt the information.

If you think FF14 trash rivals wow then you deserve to go without at that point.

No it does not compare, if anything it barely does. It is still considered a lesser mmo.

What I said

I agree WoW is a better overall MMO, but the fact that I am being forced away from playing a game I would prefer to play simply due to Bliz randomly deciding to invalidate my favorite class/spec, speaks to the terrible stewardship of the franchise over the last two expansions. The devs keep trying to force their fan base to play the game how THEY see fit, rather than allowing the fan base to determine, for themselves, whats fun and worth paying a monthly fee for (assuming those choices don’t negatively effect the fun of others). But, again, in the end it doesn’t matter to me, the other MMO choices out there are fun enough and allow more freedom of choices. Bliz is the one who is losing the money I am spending elsewhere.

I’m sure you feel WoW is in a great spot if you really love playing a class/spec supported by Bliz at the moment. Problem for me is, I enjoy playing brutish two handed knight themed DPS classes/specs, especially ones with a dark twist to them. The prior two handed frost spec class fit that perfectly. Since it has been removed, I really only have two choices, Arms Warrior and Ret Paladins (Unholy DKs are a pet class and do not have the feel or look of a two handed DPS).

Please realize - People who enjoy dual wield classes have a plethora of choices to choose from, I really only have two spec to choose from in this entire game. Dual wield isn’t intrinsically better than two handed specs, Bliz just seems to like flooding the game with dual wield specs and felt the need to force feed one into the DK specs. So it was Bliz that forced me to look for another game. Final Fantasy XIV and Elder Scrolls Online have been decent stopgaps over the last year. Well see what Bliz does this expansion.

O I’m with you brother. I prefer using 2h over DW myself. It’s what made me fall even more in love with unholy actually.

The fight should be about getting what you want but not at the expense of other or projecting needlessly negativity though.
