I personally think T3 for Druid is easily their best set of all time.
Also, my Rogue, who has been using the BMAH since WoD (as that is when I made him) is short maybe…3 pieces, I believe? I love that there is no class restriction on the T3 sets.
The biggest piece I have left are the shoulders which are the one thing that ties the entire set together and I’ve only seen it once in the past two years, having been bought out by someone using a RMT third party service website to server transfer and gold-trade with a bot on standby (and yes they bragged about it but god forbid reports ever amount to anything because they don’t care to investigate whether they are telling the truth and there is foul play evidence on the account or if they were lying to troll me and others).
It’s good. Defiantly better than most of the druid sets, especially the recolor in wrath. But I actually like T4 and T5 better when it comes to classic sets. But I actually like the Legion sets the most for druids. For most classes actually. They have really strong class fantasy and are higher quality. T19 and 21 are super dope for Druid.
I mean this is still better than hoping it pops up on the BMAH but I disagree you should have to be spending gold for these old sets.
I honestly really wanted Warlock T3. I raided MC, BWL, and a little AQ40 in vanilla but we never made it to Naxx before TBC launched. I never really cared about farming it since transmogs was never a thing until after the set was removed. It was way to expensive and random for me to bother trying to get it from the BMAH. And now, it’s still way too expensive to justify the price. T3 are really nice sets, dated and pixilated, but still nice. I want it. But I don’t want it that much. Not for 2.8million gold. Not when I can get better sets for free.
After a week of grinding Naxx on 30+ toons turning in over 150 Raider helmets, and getting absolutely nothing, it’s safe to say this needs to be changed. I just made a thread venting about how this system is just hot garbage.
It’s crazy how people are focusing on the gatekeeping system which was initially hinted at by Ion and predetermined, as well as the gold sink which isn’t super farfetched, instead of the actually ludicrous RNG that exists with having to farm 8 pcs as well as being locked to one run of naxx in order to efficiently get tokens every week.
LMAO what was the fking point. At first I was like yay finally won’t need to be filthy rich and play BMAH for T3… only to end up needing as much and sometimes MORE gold to do it Blizzard’s way? What the hell? Better off scoring pieces for 10k on dead servers than wasting your time on this crap. Seems really at odds with making things like Feldrake and Spectral tiger cub more accessible??? RIght hand not know what left is doing?
I feel like that’s pretty much the consensus. There’s too much going on here between the absolutely abysmal quest chain to unlock a “secret Naxx” (which is really the new naxx with a random NPC in the rafters), to the absolutely obscene farm of Strat/Scholomance/Naxx (once a week btw) for Scourgestones only to play the trash RNG game, to the gatekeeping of those who, prior to this system acquired T3, to the then even further gold sink of the vendor mats/buying the mats off the ah.
All in all, the individual who came up with this absolutely asinine idea should be ashamed, at the very least, for even pitching this atrocity.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, Remove the RNG and keep the gold sink, or remove the gold sink and keep the RNG.
Blizzard expects you to buy tokens and stock up on gold so that in 6 months when you’ve grinded Naxx on 40 toons every week and you finally see a piece of T3, you can afford to purify it. It’s simple!
I don’t agree with the OP and believe the price is set fairly.
Some BMAH pieces can go for their starting value (10k) while others can go for 500k or more. It depends on the piece and the realm it’s up on.
Having a way to earn these pieces without fighting against others or having to wait until a specific day for a specific piece to be available is a good thing. Sure, it will still take time to acquire the necessary gold, but it’s something you can consistently work towards at your own pace.
Alternatively, you can still use the BMAH to try to snag pieces for less, but you’ll need to be on late at night to do so and you’re at the mercy of RNG to get the piece you want to show up at all.
Just remember that while the resultant items/appearances are not class restricted, the pre-cursor items used to make the pieces are. So if you want to finish that Dreamwalker set (Druid T3), you’ll need to unlock the pieces you still need on a Druid (if you don’t buy them from the BMAH on your Rogue).
the quest to unlock the scholo/naxx stuff is 5x more fun than the time rifts where i just afk in the middle and let everyone do the work for me
i still dont know why people are seething about the cost, just ignore trying to get the lamented pieces right now and make gold off all the new patterns/crafting stuff like i’ve been doing.
Unfortunately, I believe the usual Wowhead-driven speculation that is typically half-right set expectations for these pieces to be freely craftable without cost or restriction.
