shrug MMOs and other online games are relatively cheap activities, when you compare them to other things that you could be wasting time with. Heck, buying a good board game is almost $50 these days. $25 is two days of lunches at work. A video game with 40+ hours of gameplay is upwards of $50-60. A mild smoking habit (I am not a smoker) can be over $100 per month.
In the grand scheme of things, I do not think WoW is expensive at all. However, if you feel that it is no longer worth the cost, then it is great that WoW is not an essential activity to have in your life.
People who donāt want to subscribe. At the end of each month I make a decision whether I want to continue to play or not. However, there is a workaround the price hike as it is possible to cancel sub right away after subscribing. Blizzard is just counting on people forgetting about their active sub so they can keep charging. Itās a dick move by them.
This seems strange to me that some people donāt yet have a credit card. My bank basically begged me to get one. I was a highschool student back when I was offered one. I had a zero income and my family income wasnāt good either. Are things different in US than they are in Canada regarding banks?
You wouldnt have to remember. All it takes is a check box after buying X month sub that says āRepeatableā, so making concurrent sub purchases automatically is an opt-in system.
Thats the thing though, the Canadian Dollar has been holding relatively steady against the USD for years now, in fact its been going up the last few months. So its not that the CAD suddenly dipped to 50 cents against the USD and theyāre compensating for conversion.
The issue here is HOW can it cost more money if you are just buying game time when it doesnāt cost as much to have a subscription?
People are still using the same payment methods for game time as a subscription.
Explain how one costs more than the otherā¦
That is what everyone is trying to figure out. Something is definitely fishy hereā¦ and if it really does cost them more money to charge for game timeā¦ why doesnāt it cost more for everyone who buys game time instead of a sub???
Exactly. I pay every tiny transaction with my CC and my credit score is great as the result.(and I pay on time too of course) My bank has offered me lots of great things over the years. Things that usually require either good income or a co-sign by partner.
All I can think off is maybe the retailers take X % and Blizz suddenly woke up this morning and decided they want to get the full 100% of the game time card purchase?? Otherwise makes no sense.
