2,000 Echoes of Ny’alotha

CVs are not usually the limiting factor, echoes are.
Why not? This is a video game, not a second job.

Blizzard has planted their seed so far up some players that they just accept the endless grind as fun.

I miss MoP.

I too miss when I made an alt in 5.4 and had a 9 week minimum grind for a legendary cloak.

6 weeks of it spent doing old raids.

Yeah, was legit one thing to grind and didn’t affect one half of the game (PvP).

Maybe think before you compare.

Never said it was fun man. But this sure as hell beats being time gated. Rather grind then know I won’t be at the max potential until September and be able to do nothing about it

The PvP side is true and sucks.

But for PvE you literally had 6 weeks of completely useless activities that held no value to your character by farming old raids. Or maybe you want the corruption catchup to involve farming Uldir and BoD for 3 weeks each (in series not parallel)?

3 weeks of Test of Valor (nerfed from 6!)

I left out you needed exalted with the black prince.

And the other various solo scenarios that themselves took longer than the current cloak quest. Including 2 BG wins.

And it wasn’t a gradual, every week get a little caught up doing mainly things you would do anyway. It was “so 9 weeks of irrelevant activities and THEN get a massive boost with your legendary” type system.

Maybe you don’t actually remember it well?

2k is cheap in my opinion, this game is meant to keep you playing and take time so if you lack time there are other games that would probably be a better fit. I mean you get like 750 echoes per vision, 250 from m+ so like an hour of work at most and you can buy an upgrade.

That’s what I’m saying if they want to be on even playing field from day one go play Fortnite or something. This is an MMO

I copied and saved this because I know we’re gonna have more threads about this lol.

It’s really not hard to collect them at ALL - I’m casual AF and i’m still managing to get all the stuff that I want.

People should be thankful they can even catch up at this point and stressing about alts is kinda silly when the expac is so close.

I mean I’ve seen some people that farmed world quests for months then logged in after quitting or taking a break, doing world quests again and then complained on forums and quit again because he didn’t get an upgrade from worlds quests. These are the people you’re catering to blizzard, they’re also the crowd that is killing the worthwhile activities and rewards this game had to offer in previous iterations. I say make everything take 2-5x longer, and make it 2-5x more difficult. You’ll found out which part of the player base sticks around is worth catering to instead of those that play for a few months and quit.

I do remember it.

The journey was linear. Do something to get something. There weren’t 100 layers of RNG that decided how strong your character was regardless of your efforts. Got conquest, bought gear. Raided, hopefully my piece drops.

You can hear the regret in Ion’s interviews. It may not even be genuine but just going back to ‘gear is gear’ is a testament that this expansion was terrible.

This was an opportunity to throw people that want to play their game and have fun a nice bone the summer before new xpac. Something to salvage the experience, perhaps even use these last months to create the illusion that BfA was fun.

They did the equivalent of giving a starving man a rotten piece of chicken.

If they double down and reduce the price of everything that costs an echo then I think that would feel much better.

I think I’ll just go ride my bike and have a some sort of quality life instead of grinding through all this nonsense.

The legendary cloak also wasn’t responsible for 20-30% of someone’s damage, nor did it fix any class/spec problems. Your comparison is ridiculous.

So dancing away from the significant 9 week minimum time gating grind issue in MoP which is the focus/comparison?

Involve old raid grinds, rep, 2 BG wins, the actual quests, etc.

Corruption doesn’t fix anyone’s class issue.

And 39 additional corruption resistance right now (not even a TD2) isn’t adding 30% more dps to anyone.

Corruption CAN add that much for sure, but not the deltas here which is the discussion. Going from a TD3 to TD4 isn’t boosting you 20% damage. The major jump is from no corruption to the first one.

Most of the sims are ~100 dps per corruption point.

So unless you’re simming Loooow that ain’t happening.

And the cloak was absolutely about 10%.

But essences do, something that you also need to buy with echoes.

Love how you’re comparing deltas for corruptions but totals for the cloak. Sounds about right lol.

Your cape was 1 item.

Echoes give you resistance, essences, and the corruptions themselves (which are on a 0-purpose, hamster wheel rotation).

You’re comparing a single item that was roughly a 10% increase to three different components that make your character not even worth playing.

Apples v oranges.

There in lies the problem…every single person complaining doesn’t want to put in any effort whatsoever to catch up even though blizzard keeps making changes to help them. Most of General Discussion is a lost cause unfortunately.

Good because it sounds like you want to be given things without having to actually play the game.

Remember your SPF!

The cloak was all or nothing. You had the legendary cloak or you didn’t. SoO only even dropped a single cloak because nobody would want it.

You have 50 corruption resistance with a rank 15 cloak. 60 with the essence.

The major step change is from no corruption at all to your first piece. Like having TD at all on a tank is a major step change in damage, easily 20%. Every rank after is great, but your total % damage doesn’t keep adding 20% every rank you get.
